McGregor, no better finisher in Scottish football

327

Very grateful to whoever at the BBC researched that Celtic are the third team in European football history to achieve the Double Treble, after The New Saints (TNS) and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).  This level of brilliance it exceptional by any standards.

Despite the levels of dominance TNS and PSG enjoy in their domestic leagues, neither were able to complete a Treble Treble; only Celtic can do that now.

The Scottish Cup Final was an exercise in game management by Brendan Rodgers.  His team took a two goal lead and set about making sure Motherwell would be unable to lay a glove on them.

The strongest weaker foot in the game

Among the remarkable performances on the day, special mention has to go to Callum McGregor.  Yet again he scored on the big stage, yet again with his supposed weaker foot, yet again the crucial first goal.  His game intelligence bought him the space to attack when the ball was headed out of the Motherwell penalty area.  The shot, hit on the drop-volley, was controlled and crisp.

I doubt there is a better finisher in Scottish football.

I moved to Camden at the same time as Charlie moved to Arsenal. Went to Highbury to watch and support him. He was a hero of mine for a wee while.

  5. DD, You know Michael (Bobby) give him a phone, I’m a bit worried. His posting has gone to next to zero. Make sure he is OK.

Sad to see one complete half-wit seems to have got his way again.

Might be time to find another blog to read, the guy is just a dafty and I will bet he has never called out a stranger in a pub for supporting Celtic, seems as though he is on a won man mission to destroy this place.

  8. Good morning, friends.

Was it last Tuesday that we learned that the SFA had issued a notice to Edminston Drive regarding licensing issues? Did the Notice allow them 7 days in which to respond? Asking for a friend.

  10. Skrtel would be a dreadful signing for Sevco – exactly what they don’t need. Another Alves: slow, over the hill, and expensive. No sell-on value, no room to improve. Another one-last-payday signing.

  11. Heroes are forever- thank you for sharing the memories of Helen with us. May her soul rest in peace and God Bless you.

Helen will be smiling down on you, as she will be watching some team in the real paradise. Again God Bless

Delaney’s re Owen Paul. I’m sure when he had his hit(s) in the early eighties , it was mentioned in the media he had played for Celtic Boys Club and was on our books at one point .

His older brother , Brian, was Simple Minds’ first drummer. Brian used to sit about 5 rows behind me in the South Stand .

Another fantastic first in Scotland last Saturday for us. Let’s build on the strong foundations we have plus improve our European results preferably in the Champions League

  22. Hard to believe some of the stuff that is apparently viewed as genuine here now from and by otherwise savvy Tim contributers…… I mean, just re-read some of it………..fabrications, made-up spoilers, trolling repetitive guff

    CQN still has its diamonds……..

………..but the odd “nuggets” are totally unbelievable. Laughable.

Mick, read your post last night and I agree with everything you said. The amount of people on here who

defended him over the years has been incredible.

If you can find fault with Celtic after this weekend then the is definitely something wrong. The Celtic Way, The Double Treble, Open top bus parade and stll nothing positive.

I stopped reading his posts as I do not think he EVER had a good word to say about CELTIC, be it the board, fans or the team. I did not comment when I read your post as it would look like people were ganging up on him (who shall be nameless) . I normally by pass his comments. His main problem IMHO is when he goes oot, he somehow comes back in

Keep posting Mick, enjoy the HOOT (I’m in Idonesia) but I’m sure you’ll have a great time.HH
