McGREGOR: SFA JUSTICE!

ALLAN McGREGOR will NOT be punished by the SFA after kicking out at Kristoffer Ajer in Celtic’s 1-0 win over Sevco Rangers on Sunday.

Earlier in CQN today, Hoops legend John Hughes called for a retrospective ban for the goalkeeper following the shocking incident.

McGregor clearly caught the Danish international defender in a flashpoint incident at Parkhead that was caught by the TV cameras and witnessed by thousands of home supporters.

The rival players went for a right-wing free-kick taken by Callum McGregor and there was a collision with both ending on the ground. It was clear the keeper had a kick out at Ajer.

Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard admitted McGregor was lucky to stay on the pitch for the first-half incident.

He said: “He’s lashed out. Of course, I will speak to him about it.”

Remarkably, the veteran Ibrox shotstopper has been cleared of any offence and no action will be taken.

The decision was made after three former match officials were consulted, as per the disciplinary procedure, which is now led by new SFA Compliance Officer Clare Whyte.

No unanimous decision was reached when the officials reviewed the footage and they did not deem it worthy of prosecution through the governing body’s fast-track disciplinary process.
