McLeish frank admission, Aberdeen get it right. Will we?

1909

BBC’s series, Scotland’s Game, has become compulsive viewing. Tales of redemption for Celtic, Hearts and others, and tales of woe for some. Last night’s episode had a few remarkably frank admissions.

One which caught the eye was former-Rangers former-manager, Alex McLeish, who admitted his title winning team “would’ve been behind [Celtic]” had they not funded their squad through EBTs. We should all take note for when the Big Tax Case reaches the Supreme Court.

Pleased to see the appropriate amount of damage done to Rangers by majority owner and chairman, David Murray, was correctly attributed, with one or two character defects throw in for good measure by contributing journalist, Tom English.

Aberdeen have nailed their proverbial flag to the mast this week with the word, “No previous meeting found” on their fixture list comment on a forthcoming game against Newco. It’s a simple comment, it’s accurate, has been confirmed in writing by Uefa and will position the club shoulder-to-shoulder with their fans.

Get it right, Celtic.

THE GREEN MAN SAYS SACK THE BOARD on 2ND SEPTEMBER 2016 12:15 PM

    BSR

Big Peter will probably apologize on their behalf:)

    Without telling them first:)

    ——-

As the Celtic fans start singing ‘you’re not Rangers anymore’ PL will be seen shaking his head in shame before kicking back on his heated Directors seat.

  2. Good Afternoon Bhoys, Well done the Dandies, We must follow suit or the games a bogey.

We don’t need them and never have, Has our own board fooled itself into believing we need the cheats?

Cause us nothing but hassle in every shape and form.

Judging by the ticket prices for the game on the 10th, they are quite prepared to be cheated for 12 years and take the bigot pound. I hope I am wrong.

Silence on Res12, any kind of condemning comment in the past 4 years and now the ticket prices has me doubting the soul of our club.

We will be cheated this year and have been already and if we some how lose of the 10th you can bet your bottom dollar it will be because of an honest mistake or two and the club will say nothing and expect us to get on with it. Rubbish.

Aberdeen have shown us how easy it is to make a statement without battering the drum, let’s see what happens.

  3. I have had this post typed up since Saturday evening. Today is an appropriate time to post it.

Admittedly over the last couple of years I have been a bit of a protagonist getting involved in let’s say “banter” that it’s not acceptable on CQN by Paul67’s standards, up to and directly attacking individual’s rather than their views. I today apologise for that.

However, as I discussed with someone close to Paul67 last Saturday before the game, I actively set out some time ago to see just how far the blog had fallen. To see, what depths my postings could plummet to before they were deemed, and this is a horrible phrase used far too frequently on here if you know the history of it, “Beyond The Pale”. Just what has become acceptable “banter” (a very hun like phrase) on CQN.

From the days of Super Sammy and his attempts to undermine the blog trolling as a Hun in a Tim’s clothing, to the accepted & excused casual racism of Kojo, who was very capable of posting some great stuff on Celtic and especially our youth setup, I was saddened to see this place turn from the Dear Green Place it once was to what it is now.

I once moderated for Paul67 for a short while with one or two others. I was not the correct personality for that job and it became apparent quickly that my personal views on other’s posts would override any attempt to judge a post on just its content. Therefore rightly so I didn’t last long as a moderator and that period ended. I don’t believe Paul67 has any moderators now. However after this period I did highlight, via email to Paul67, many posts that I believed broke the rules of his blog until such a time as the numbers of posts being highlighted were becoming more and more frequent and it seemed a pointless exercise. I know of one other blogger who also did this frequently.

So instead after some time, I thought I would test my theory of how far acceptable standards had fallen. I started of lightly with “banter” that just about crossed the line, and then over the weeks took it up a notch or two and little by little a bit further until in the last 6 months or so I have been right up there in your faces. I have used expletives frequently which would never be accepted 3 or 4 years ago unless provided in context within well constructed posts. Even then these were few and far between. I have attacked individuals directly rather than the content of their posts based on previous post without even reading what they have just posted. I have attacked personally individuals rather than the content of their posts without thought for them or fear of how my words may impact them. Most of us are thick skinned but really how are we to know who is on the other end of this virtual bar.

Sadly not once have I had an email from Paul67 with a single complaint about some of my post. Not one single blogger took enough offence at a single post I have made, especially so in the last 6 months to take the time to email Paul67. I can count on one hand the number of times a blogger has posted that I have taken things too far. Only TBB, JJ, and one other that I noted felt strongly enough at my direct attack on Tony Donnelly with regards turning his use of the phrase “Grooming of kids” as a direct attack on his personality and that I feared for any children being in his company. Not one individual emailed Paul67 to complain. No matter what I think of Tony and his particular use of that phrase, I do not particularly like him as a blogger nor do I believe I’d like him much in real life, that particular post of mine was and is unacceptable by anyone’s standards never mind CQN’s. But for me it highlights how far this Dear Green Place has fallen.

I unreservedly apologise to you Tony Donnelly for that post. I don’t expect you to accept my apology as is your right. But it is offered in good faith.

I accept that at times my posts have come across as bullying. This may well be true in that I was attacking individuals inappropriately using inappropriate references, language and manner. However I don’t accept that posters who take offence and call out others who frequently post inappropriately material, who Troll, are Huns in a Tims clothing, engage in casual racism, use language that is inappropriate, flower attacks on individuals or groups within acceptable language etc. should be called out as bullies or cliques. This happens far too much on here. Posters should call out every single post that is inappropriate without fear of being labelled a bully. Funnily enough, as I see it, it is always the same group of posters who view those calling out inappropriate posts and posters, as bullies. It says a lot for these individuals.

Anyway, back to just posting, scrolling and occasional lurking for me now.

Please note:- Unless specifically stated all my posts from this point on are just opinions and where they are fact based I will state this. I also refuse to use Wikipedia but if ever I do so I will not copy & paste the sections of references that suit my agenda, I wll copy & paste the full reference. Just so yeez ken. 

I tell you…it is indeed despicable, that a Celtic board will uphold the ‘Big Lie’ and support the Hun agenda, so that they can pretend that the ‘new club’ is Rangers, so they can charge their own supporters £50.

That my friends….is rotten to the core.

What kind of people are they?

    Are they Celtic supporters…Really.

If the PLC are prepared to lie to their own supporters, what good are they?

They obviously dont have the best interests of Celtic supporters at heart, not if they are prepared to back the Huns.

When are we going to stand up together against the Hun agenda?

    When?

What’s this? , a mere website update issue nobody existed before 2014 on Aberdeen’s

Sadly, I think if Celtic were going to expose the ‘big lie’ then we’d know by now, however there hasn’t been a game at Celtic Park involving rANGERs.

I think Celtic we’ll ignore ‘the big lie’, ‘for business reasons’ therefore here’s my tuppence worth

To continue with the same allocation is complete and utter

stupidity, and a real opportunity missed by Celtic ..

It’s was the one decision that the PLC really needed to make ..

Immediately across from the monument ( above where the lift from the dome comes out ) you will find the monument to Maria Clementia Sobieska – wife to James Stuart and mother of Bonnie Price Charlie making the Stuarts the only “Royal” Family to be buried and honoured in St Peter’s.

  14. This unfortunate week goes back to the leak of information and addresses, in my view and the assumption posted by ‘others’ that Kill Ultra was in some way connected to an individual from Level 5 who had apparently been banned from Twitter.

PJ55 in an attempt to validate Kill Ultra mailed me. I was concerned by some of the mail’s contents, given the doubts about KU. I was asked not to share the mail here. I don’t know PJ55, he had mailed the dublin2016 address before. Unfortunately being in the public domain that address has been subject to trolling.

I corresponded privately with WC’s earlier in the week and I was relieved to read that another regular poster was able to clear up any uncertainty regarding PJ55.

I was happy to apologise to PJ55 for any anxiety caused on my part and commend him for his efforts to support his friend.

It’s been positive to see BRTH and Kill Ultra engaging in a positive manner today. It’s also a little troubling if Kill Ultra’s identity might have been known and not verified by a poster. If that’s case that was a bad call especially in the context of KU’s commitment to the Celtic family.

In my opinion, any comment from Celtic now on the “new club” would be pathetic given the ticket allocation the “new club” has received and the price charged for said tickets.

Why would the price for “new club” tickets be around double of that you would expect to pay against the likes of Aberdeen.

There have been many opportunities for Celtic in the past to make it clear that the continuation myth is exactly that, a myth but they chose the route of avoiding the issue.

The old firm nonsense is alive and well in the boardroom at Celtic Park but as a 20+ years season ticket holder they can count me out on sept 10th.

I hope they choke on the blue pound.

  18. THECLUMPANY on 2ND SEPTEMBER 2016 12:15 PM

Celtic absolutely MUST get their handling of the Sevco league game correct. No excuses for failing to do so. Giving legitimacy to something which pretends to be an entity which cheated the club, its fans and its shareholders would be outrageous.

    Get it right Celtic”

After all the hours and millions of words on this subject it all boils down to one message.

The more I consider what I would accept as a final word from Celtic, in terms of their stance on the issue. It Is this:

Website and match programme iclude a short description of their recent journey through the lower leagues…

‘We would like to extend a warm welcome to the Ibrox club on their first visit to Celtic Park. May the best team win’

For me that one line settles the debate once and for all and helps me to move on.

Any subsequent actions resulting from the forthcoming Supreme Court ruling and any stripping of historic titles all sit with courts and SFA. Not for Celtic to even so much as comment on.

    So, Get it right Celtic

    Well done Dons

Hertz and Hibs can continue with same, and the message is delivered cleanly and without unecessary fuss!

Cue an urgent recall of programme print runCSC

  20. I was curious as to how the beeb were going to handle the death of rangers in their Scotlands Game programme. They did acknowledge the liquidation but then went on to say that the outcome was that ‘rangers’ were placed in Scotland’s lowest division. Charles Green buying the assets and starting again as a newco was very neatly side stepped, not even a mention. Once again, the beeb have got clean away with distorting the truth about deidco.

  21. GuyFawkesaforeverhero on

I went round the Celtic Park tour with family and visitors last Thursday and at the end of the showing of the club video, narrated by Kris Commons, we were invited to take away a match programme for the recent Betfred Cup-tie against Motherwell as a souvenir of the day.

Knowing there’d be interest in Celtic’s disclosures about Sevco next week, I’ve looked at what we said about Motherwell last month.

Six pages dedicated to them; a brief summary of games to date this season, a full list of 2016/2017 league fixtures then 4 pages of player pen-portraits ending with a current squad list. No honours list.

There are a further two pages describing some of the 17 league cup-ties between the two clubs in past years.

If this example is typical of the current season’s match programmes, then my guess is we’ve prepared a side-step in advance hoping to minimise controversy. Time will tell how that works.

  24. MOONBEAMS at 12.35 – glad to read that the old MWD is back. Can’t really decide whether what you did recently was for the best but, after all, it’s only a blog.

More generally, I’m still having a raging debate with my own conscience on whether or not to attend the game on September 10th. Like BSR I think that if our custodians were going to have done anything (yes, anything!) to distance themeselves even 1mm from the same club argument they would have done so before now. Charging a higher price than all otehr league games along with an increased away allocation did nothing at ll to reassure me on that.

  25. Something on these lines from Celtic below —– would provide the clarification of UEFA rules (that have been in place prior to 2012).

UEFA have dropped the SFA (and depending on their response, Celtic) right in it.

However I expect that nothing will be said for fear of a reaction the blame for which will be pinned on Celtic by the very media whose livelihood depends on propagating the Big Lie. The underlying narrative is that thugs, aided and abetted by a fearful media, are running Scottish football.

    ————————-

How UEFA Interpret Their Rules (explanations in Square Brackets) based on Traverso.

How UEFA Interpret Their Rules (explanations in Square Brackets)

” To sum up, as a consequence of decisions taken in 2012 as well as the administration of the club and the events/measures that followed (including the NEW club/company [that means TRFC/RIFC] being ineligible to apply for a licence to participate in UEFA competitions for three seasons [because the new club/company did not have an SFA Membership in 2012 that was older than three years ] there is clearly no need for UEFA to investigate this matter any further since the club [this time that means RFC] was not granted a licence to participate in the 2012/13 UEFA club competitions [because they had an overdue payable and no ratified accounts], the new club/company [back to TRFC/RIFC again] entered the fourth tier of Scottish Football and it was not able to play in UEFA competitions for the next three years in any event” [because it was not in in the top tier of the SPFL until 2016]

The separation of Club A (RFC) and Club B TRFC/RIFC (which has a club/company construct and is new to UEFA) is as clear as day. It is based on Article 12 of UEFA FFP whose purpose is to stop a club or a club/company trying to ditch debt that enabled UEFA competition qualification, from participating in UEFA competitions.

An investigation into the charade BRTH describes earlier would ask why SFA Articles lack an UEFA FFP Article 12 equivalent. The problems it would have avoided.
