McLeish frank admission, Aberdeen get it right. Will we?

1909

BBC’s series, Scotland’s Game, has become compulsive viewing. Tales of redemption for Celtic, Hearts and others, and tales of woe for some. Last night’s episode had a few remarkably frank admissions.

One which caught the eye was former-Rangers former-manager, Alex McLeish, who admitted his title winning team “would’ve been behind [Celtic]” had they not funded their squad through EBTs. We should all take note for when the Big Tax Case reaches the Supreme Court.

Pleased to see the appropriate amount of damage done to Rangers by majority owner and chairman, David Murray, was correctly attributed, with one or two character defects throw in for good measure by contributing journalist, Tom English.

Aberdeen have nailed their proverbial flag to the mast this week with the word, “No previous meeting found” on their fixture list comment on a forthcoming game against Newco. It’s a simple comment, it’s accurate, has been confirmed in writing by Uefa and will position the club shoulder-to-shoulder with their fans.

Get it right, Celtic.

    I know where i stand….on principle.

Some people on the PLC, are quite willing to sell their souls for money, and willing to sell the soul of Celtic as well.

    Some of them…dont support Celtic

Some of them, obviously dont have our best interests at heart.

Some of them…shouldnt be there in the first place.

    Ive no time for liars.

I knew you were up to something. Some of your posts were not from the guy I’ve come to know since I joined CQN, particularly on TD.

Listen, why dont you all refuse to give the £50 bigot con any credence whatsoever, by boycotting one solitary game ffs.

It’s not fifty quid if you have a season ticket. I’m going to see Celtic play whoever is put up against them, whether that’s Barcelona, Alloa or anyone else.

  4. How much do you think our bhoys will pay when we go to Poundland? The exact same, these prices are agreed by both clubs at the start of the season

Football can sometimes shoot you down when you start thinking ahead too much. But I could definitely see myself playing in Scotland. I’m a bit of a Rangers man so it would be nice to play there one day.

“The Old Firm games are quality and I try and get up there as much as I can to watch them. The Ibrox lads have sorted me out with tickets a few times.

“Rangers is just a team I’ve followed since I was a kid so it would be great to play there in the future.I’m still young and hope to play at the highest level I can.

“No disrespect to the SPL but at the moment it’s not where it should be. But one day in the future, who knows.”

I’m a Celtic supporter, with a season ticket.

I go to all home games that I’m able to attend, to support my team.

I am able to attend next week, and will be going to the Celtic match as scheduled.

That’s my view, and this is my team.

My son is also a season ticket holder, and is able to attend next week.

However, he has a student season ticket, which is not valid for this match.

In order to attend the match next week, he requires to pay for his ‘season ticket seat’.

Like many students, he works for minimum wage on zero hours in the hospitality sector.

Celtic are charging him £40, equivalent to an 8 (eight) hour shift at work, for the ticket.

He has paid for his ticket for the match. Fair play to him.

He is, after all, a Celtic supporter, something that cannot be said without reservation of those who decided ticketing policy.

  9. Green Man,

Who knows what is right or wrong now?

I know there is Good and Evil.

    I know Celtic is Good.

One thing is certain, God uses Everyone, if he didn’t then there would be no point being here?

I know Celtic is really Good.

I know my Bhoy is going to spend a lot less Time with me in the future, as he leaves School. He is an incredible Person – His Mum is the True Hero.

When he asked for a Season Ticket, there was no way I could say NO – he wanted to be @ the game against the Huns.

I hope we take 10 off them on the Tenth. Highly unlikely I know. ;)

In general I think standards across cyberspace totally disintegrated in the run up to the Scottish Indy referendum. Yes the issue may have galvanised political awareness, but at what cost?

Everybody is busy these days, so a level of self moderation is required. However did you witness the absolute disgusting posts on a link to a ” Rangers ” forum last night. Their teachers must be so proud. What is so evident is they are so ignorant and delusional that normal debate with them is impossible.

    Really? I never knew that.

It is about 6 years since my son had a student discount ST ( having progressed as a juvenile under the original family section arrangements on the clubs return to Paradise).

Anyway…..his discounted ticket ( which btw had to be paid in full until proof of his return to university was provided) NEVER excluded a match against them.

Are you sure it’s not because of where his seat is rather than his student status ST?

Of course the rules may have changed in the meantime.

  14. MoonbeamsWD,

Some people just want to watch the Celtic play.

After the Juventus game I was so sickened I didn’t want to watch fitba anymore.

Celtic had mastered the art of scoring from corner kicks, it was such a powerful weapon in the Champions (lOl) League.

The Confirmed Cheaters were allowed to do what they done. We might not even have won over the 2 legs because we are basically pish away from home but after giving so much effort and hard work, to be cheated so feckin blatantly was especially galling for me.

    God Bless Every Celtic supporter.

Rules changed for this season. All children/student season tickets are for all league games except Sevco where they need to pay £30/£40 for an individual ticket for that game(s)

We cant let young Celtic fans down…thats for sure.

But….that doesnt mean the adults cant hold the PLC to account for trying to sell the soul of Celtic, to the Huns.

Celtic are in my heart, and i cant stand to see the PLC try to dilute what we are.

Celtic supporters tell the truth….The Celtic PLC, lie for money.

    Thanks for that.

I’m amazed….what is the possible justification for that? Has the discounted cost come down over recent years? That is the only thing I can think of which could provide any sort of explanation though even it isn’t a good one!

I don’t stray onto their sites now. They got more vile by the day after their destruction that it was not funny any more. They are vile.

I so hope that this new club/company does compound itself and dies and we no longer need to discuss the any potential Old Firmist meeting or Old Firmist board.

Excellent post; it has been a bit toxic, particularly over the last week or so; unfortunately I have also contributed to that. However, it’s anew day!

Tony Donnelly manfully came out and apologised today; a number of people have apologised to Papajoe55; BTRH and Kill Ultra are discoursing in a civilised manner; a couple of posts have been removed by Paul67. This is progress and we should all take note and make sure that the standards that CQN is known for are adhered to and we make this a welcoming, lively debating chamber!

Similar story to your own. He’s had the seat man and bhoy, 10th season now. Had to pay full shilling for the season ticket this year, then get a retrospective discount when he provided proof of status.

The ticket does not include the two fixtures versus Sevco this season, which require to be purchased additionally, price £40.

No juvenile or student concession season tickets include these matches this season, irrespective of where the seat is located. For youngsters, the additional charge is £30. For students, £40.

Clearly, the folk who decide these things think this is a good idea.

I have an alternative point of view.

Nah. I”ve been using messageboards of various types since the earl 2000’s and the nature of abuse is not better or worse. There’s simply far, far more people using comments sections etc to blow hot air.

    Paul,

According to Aberdeen they are not entering the new club debate. All games played prior to 2014 are not included.

Stewart milne wants us all to move on. The top teams belong in the top league.

Children’s tickets have been cheap for a few years now, price is the same this season as last but it excludes Sevco game this season. Depending on age its £50, £105, £159 for children and students are £199.

  25. My take on the ticket malarkey, after talking to 3 different people on our bus who it affects is that if Celtic had no 50 quid tickets and charged £110 for a kids season book nobody would give a rats erchie.
