Transfer rumours are the easiest way to earn money in the margins of the football industry. The vast majority of it is an invention by someone masquerading as a journalist or with an interest in building a market for a specific footballer.
This transfer window, rumours about Celtic signing Hogh, Duran, Hassan and Baur all landed. Good information was acquired and disseminated. That creates a reliability reputation that is not always deserved.
There will be no such thing as a quiet news day until after the window closes, even if there is no news. It’s not all the media’s fault, either. Agents earn money when their client gets a move. Some do their best to build a market for their player when none exists. That is happening right now, with Celtic’s name being leaked without any serious interest in the player. This will feed a ‘Celtic miss out’ narrative, if the player in question moves on, but that’s just another news item.

The problem with a lot of the rumours is we often “want to believe them”, and fall for the clickbait.
We have fan media supposed Celtic ITKs on twitter, but the reality is ITKFA is a better description.
Of course, some will always get stories wrong, but I struggle to find anyone with a remotely decent track record.
Even the more experienced MSMs are publicly admitting Celtic are watertight.

In monetary terms it’s the biggest match of our season and the biggest match of their history. It means a lot to both sides for sure. We have the advantage but they are at home and have nothing to lose now.

Hope just a precaution with Trusty, we really do not need to be losing half of our back four in August. Scales is not my favourite player, but he has the experience to step in if required. My bigger concern is that 3 of our back 4 are prone to injury (AJ, CCV and KT) and Trusty now may be joining them. We need at least one big addition, if not two, to give us some kind of depth on the bench.

I was listening to Paul Elliot recently about his time in Glasgow(can’t believe he’s 62). He was a really fine centre-half. Obviously, he talked about the racism he and his friend Mark Walters experienced during their playing days. This made me think about when I first moved to London. In1968 in Glasgow there were no black people as such, brown Asians yes, there were quite a few but no Caribbeans nor Africans. Of course there were exceptions but I’m speaking in general. However, London was totally different, there were so many black Caribbeans, from Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados etc. My upstairs and next door neighbours were Jamaican. One was Sir J the Emperor, a DJ who introduced me to Reggae music, not the Bluebeat I was hearing in Glasgow but a rawer version of sunshine music. And when I say he introduced me to it, it was a case of being imposed on me as it came pounding through the walls until all hours. But I loved it and was happy when I finally met him and was invited to his home to enjoy some splendid aspects of Jamaican culture, some of it cuisine. Anyway, I began playing for a team in the West London amateur league. We had a black guy, a winger called Bobby, who was a fine player and a lovely person as well. I talked to him about the total absence of black players in the English leagues. He told me he believed it was racism as there were many, many fine black players around in amateur football. And it was true, I came up against players who impressed me with their skill and natural ability. The story was that black players, though skillful, were not tough or physical enough to play top level football. This was despite the likes of Brazil and Eusebio. It was soon after that West Ham signed a guy called Clyde Best, a striker who at 6′ 2″ rubbished claims that black players were not physical enough. He was a strong, powerful striker, good in the air, a typical English centre-forward at that time. Although he eventually became a favourite of the Hammers’ fans, he was racially abused at most away grounds. Harry Redknapp and Bobby Moore took him under their wing and looked after him during that period. He was still a teenager, recently arrived from Bermuda. Clyde Best, to an extent, broke the mold, becoming the first black star in the English first division. It took another 10 years before we saw a black player in an England strip, Nottingham Forest’s Viv Anderson. Paul Ince was the first black captain of the national team in 1993 but even then black players were still targeted. Jason Lee was lampooned by David Baddiel and Frank Skinner in their tv show Fantasy Football, Baddiel blacking up his face and with a pineapple on his head making fun of Lee’s hairstyle and his ability as a footballer. Apparently accepted then, outrageous today. I mention all of this because yesterday I watched the Newcastle v Liverpool game and number of black players on show. It was the same in all the other games as well. Much as I cringe at some of their goal celebrations, black players have enhanced our game tremendously and I can’t help but remember players like Clyde Best, Viv Anderson and Jason Lee and the racist obstacles they had to overcome in order to make a living from the game.

Our fans only acted in self-defence when, once again, and they are well known for it, the Celtic so called supporters over celebrated by entering our field of play to taunt and physically attack our players and staff. Shameful conduct with no dignity at all.
There is also no evidence what so ever that the people wearing masks were indeed Rangers supporters, in the absence of proof (wink wink, and a wee masonic distress signal) there is nothing that This Rangers, still the same club Rangers mind you can do about that, and it is reasonable to think that the Police would manage these situation accordingly.
With this in mind, we ask that the panel act accordingly, banning Celtic from association football for a period of 10 years, and admonish the people and award last seasons Scottish cup to the mighty Glasgow Rangers.
Anything else would be a conspiracy and corruption.
