Media fast and loose with Neil Lennon comments

906

The annual raft of idle speculation unsettling Celtic’s playing and managerial resources is well underway.  One newspaper headline today proclaimed, “Celtic boss wants Canaries to approach him”, based on Neil Lennon when talking about moving to England saying, “There has been no offer, there has been no concrete phone call or anything like that, so I haven’t really had a decision to make on it”.  Countless others have followed in a similar theme.

Neil Lennon has not really hidden the fact that he would like to manage in the FA Premier League one day, but none of the journos with pages to fill have any notion on his thoughts of dropping a division in England.  In the real world, Neil is showing no reticence in pursuing team development plans for next season.  We’ll be involved in Champions League football two months from tomorrow, the manager is busy on the matters in hand.

Best wishes to John Brown for his inspired attempts to take down Newco Rangers.  More power to you, John, I hope you have any many lemmings lined up as possible.  Some months ago the plotters had a notion that they would starve Newco shareholders into handing over the club for zilch, or £1 less than Rangers were sold to a liquidation expert for.  It remains possible that Sevco will starve, but notions that there will be an outcome for the plotters which is more desirable than an existence under the current crew are fading by the day.

Don’t forget, we’ve Tommy Gemmell, live on the blog, on Friday between 13:00 and 16:00.  He’ll be here to chat and answer your questions.

Issue 20 of CQN Magazine, CQLisboN, is out and enjoying great reviews. Click here to read for FREE.

Thoughts are with the Turkish miners today.

People should be going to jail for this disaster.

If anyone does go to jail,it will not be those responsible. This country has the most corrupt government in its history.A dictator for PM,who unashamedly feathers his and his families nests,in full view of the country.Who has arrested hundreds of army personnel, and placed his own men in their place.Who will next year bring out new legislation to gerrymander the voting system, elect himself President, and rule for another 10 years.

Justice for the dead miners?.Too many brown envelopes have changed hands for the guilty to be charged.

Seen as you have your Dylan T shirt on Today I thought I would mention that Moville in Co Donegal are hosting their annual Dylanfest in Aug this year.

    It’s from Thurs 21st – Sun 24th Aug.

I’ve been to Moville quite a lot over the years but never for the Dyalnfest so I’m heading over this year & from what I hear it’s supposed to be a great weekend.

Interesting comments re. the SPFL and I’ve had the same fears.

The big difference between the SPFL and the leagues you cite is the supporters – there are a number of clubs in Scotland which, if harnessed properly, can thrive by bringing fans back to the game. Look at Aberdeen/Dundee Utd/St.Johnstone for the cup finals, Hearts and Hibs have pretty huge supports, even Dundee brought almost 12000 to their final home game in the Championship.

Its getting more of them to matches on a regular basis – signs are good though.

Thankfully I don’t think the comparisons with the leagues of Ireland/Wales are valid because a trip to any matches there are more like the mid-lower end of the lower leagues in Scotland. Even cup finals struggle to half fill the stadiums in those competitions.

Thats what gives me hope, though I think we have to think outside the box to improve the product a bit more to allow Scottish clubs to compete with clubs down south.

I was serious about the Dutch being the weakest of those 3, though Australia’s hard working team might find the slower pace and more technical football, required to play in a S. American climate, will be challenging. As will England.

I didn’t see much of Norwich last season, but what little I did see led me to believe that any striker would struggle to score goals, given their style of play.
