Media fast and loose with Neil Lennon comments

906

The annual raft of idle speculation unsettling Celtic’s playing and managerial resources is well underway.  One newspaper headline today proclaimed, “Celtic boss wants Canaries to approach him”, based on Neil Lennon when talking about moving to England saying, “There has been no offer, there has been no concrete phone call or anything like that, so I haven’t really had a decision to make on it”.  Countless others have followed in a similar theme.

Neil Lennon has not really hidden the fact that he would like to manage in the FA Premier League one day, but none of the journos with pages to fill have any notion on his thoughts of dropping a division in England.  In the real world, Neil is showing no reticence in pursuing team development plans for next season.  We’ll be involved in Champions League football two months from tomorrow, the manager is busy on the matters in hand.

Best wishes to John Brown for his inspired attempts to take down Newco Rangers.  More power to you, John, I hope you have any many lemmings lined up as possible.  Some months ago the plotters had a notion that they would starve Newco shareholders into handing over the club for zilch, or £1 less than Rangers were sold to a liquidation expert for.  It remains possible that Sevco will starve, but notions that there will be an outcome for the plotters which is more desirable than an existence under the current crew are fading by the day.

Don’t forget, we’ve Tommy Gemmell, live on the blog, on Friday between 13:00 and 16:00.  He’ll be here to chat and answer your questions.

Issue 20 of CQN Magazine, CQLisboN, is out and enjoying great reviews. Click here to read for FREE.

Can’t let a mention of ‘Jonathan Goes Country’ go by without saying how much I love it. Not a country fan at all, but ‘JGC’ is a great album with a crazy sleeve!

    ———————————————————–

    Crazy sleeve, crazy guy!

I love it myself. It falls firmly into the “niche” category – but then so does everything by Jonathan Richman. Just listen to “Hospital” for reference!! :-)

  2. Hooper , Snodgrass, a decent LB cover for izzy and no significant exits and I would be happy as a sand bhoy!!

Min. Semi final in C League and a treble .

    Roll on next season

I have just read your diatribe from last night and I will attempt to clear up a couple of points.

You accuse me of not willing to discuss the issues on Independence. You have been disingenuous a few times in your posts by asking for information and your response being to belittle the info provided: whereas it’s factual or not. You did this last night when I attempted to answer your question on defence. The info is in the public domain and if you really wanted it you can easily find it. Alternatively you can go to a Yes awareness meeting which are proving a massive success with most venues being packed out.

Regarding debate: please explain why the Yes voters must explain and provide a case for Independence and the the No voters just ask questions.

Apologies if I have missed it but I have yet to see someone on this site putting forward an economic case for retaining the status quo of a Westminster Government.

If you would answer this question, or even better, put forward the case I would definitely listen to what you had to say and I would respond in a courteous manner.

The last sentence leads me nicely on to your gripe with me regards Ernie.

You may have missed these bits but I have been called a liar, a coward and a halfwit by him. Do you seriously consider this is ok? I have also seen him issuing really nasty comments to a few others as well, usually the ones he calls Cyper Nats.

This is one of the reasons I bypass his blogs now. The other is,and I find this a bit strange, why so few pick him up on the following.

He asks questions often and usually gets answers. Yet, I have never seen him answer a question: particularly the one about if he is a member of a political party.

There are people on this site who know you and people who know me but Ernie keeps his identity secret, although he did make a mistake by once saying he didn’t have a vote then changing that statement. However in saying all that on Ernie I do remember in the distant past some blogger challenging him on staying in Croydon and being a pal of Gorgeous George Galloway: the catholic tim whilst in Scotland, and the Muslim whilst in London.

I have said before I have no desire to fall out with folk but I will never ever just sit here doing nothing whilst Scotland and its people are labelled horrible and bigoted.

I hope you take his blog in the spirit it

is intended and look forward to hearing from you.

    We`re talking `67 here.

Given that the entire basis for the show is political these days, I’m suprised it’s Graham Norton rather than James Naughtie or Jeremy Paxman that presents. :-)

Reminds me of the comedian at the Kano do saying how his wife has no sense of humour

I think we need cover at centre half , Charlie and Mikel Lustig can do a job but they are better elsewhere in the side. Don’t think the youngsters are ready yet

  8. My friends in Celtic,

Well there we have it, a glimpse of the future.

Holyrood as guided by the majority party votes down the concept of a mandatory living wage for government contract workers.

Proof that talk is cheap and is in fact just populist empty rhetoric.

Actions speak louder than words and this action is the clearest vision to date of what we can expect in with “freedom”.

Corporation tax down. Living wage, Oh lets talk.

I make no apology for bringing this up, as in contrast Celtic were rightly pillared about the living wage.

We can expect the usual drivel of excuses “our hands are tied” European law, Westminister law, blah, blah.

    HH, always in Celtic.

PS : I would just like to echo WeefratheTim’s post @ 13.15 hrs about the remarkable Stephen Sutton.

Starting to equate being calked a cybernat to being called a Fenian. Both terms aimed at individuals or groups with distaste and to be derogatory.

Yet proud to say I am happy to be called both.

MWD says Aye because he is no unionist.

    —————————————————————–

Utter bollox! CyberNat is a term that’s been used by the SNP and others alike – it refers to the (rather novel and clever) tactic of using online, websites and social media in order to bolster support. Put away your faux hurt – there’s plenty of real discrimination out there if you want to take umbrage. Someone strongly arguing against your point is not.

However, we are being told (by the CyberNats on the blog) that if we don’t vote Yes then Celtic fans are as bad as the BNP and the Orange Order. I’ve never heard such utter, utter nonsense. If anyone should be offended it’s the those of us who fall under this accusation. You should start your own singing section – “Hello, hello, we are the bully boys”.

    REFUGEE

“A refugee is a person who ‘owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality, and is unable to or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country”

The subject is very divisive. People have strong feelings on both sides. So a reasoned debate would be the best outcome. Alas, we’re already in the mire in terms of extreme language and name-calling. That reflects the tone of the debate overall IMHO. Lot of rhetoric, little substance.
