Como! Who knew? You might expect the side who finished 10th in Serie A last season would be a source of players for Celtic (Reggina were 13th when we signed our former right winger Shunsuke Nakamura from them 20 years ago). Now Como are signing teenagers from Betis for €22m and apparently Nicolas Kuhn for €19m.
This is the world, there’s no point complaining about it. Como are the plaything of Indonesian owners, who have funded a rise from Siere D (where Reggina now are). We have seen similar vanity projects playout across Europe. They seldom end well, but before they burn out, there’s millions to be made for football players.
No one should expect anything other than Nicolas Kuhn making the most of his earning potential. It is why he came to Celtic in the first place and why Celtic continue to attract players from across the globe to live in Glasgow, protected from harmful sun rays 99% of the year. This is the world, let’s make the most of it.
It would be remis of me not to mention how some in the old media, followed by many online, treated the news of Nicolas signing for Celtic. A know-nothing from Austria (billed as an “expert”) was given a platform to explain how “rubbish” the player was. Celtic have an incredible ability to sell rubbish for €19m.
Whatever the process was that identified and selected Nicolas Kuhn, let’s have more of this “rubbish”.

You should think of puttin a wee quiz together, maybe a picture round, used to be a given.
Just seen the goal.
HH
Good to see Brendan taking player development seriously….
Giving the younger players a chance, to prove themselves, all at once…..
Job done….
This quiz question just popped into my head for no reason.
How many ex-Celtic players share a surname with US Presidents.
So far, I’ve come up with six.

Darren ( Jackson )
Jim / John ( Kennedy )
Johnny ( Hayes )
Mikey ( Johnston) ?
Peter ( Grant )
Tosh ( McKinlay )
Paul/Mark ( Wilson )
If the rags have it right, Kyogo is now set for a move to Birmingham City.
For a guy who left us to notionally improve his chances of re-securing his place in the Japanese squad by playing at a higher level than at Celtic, it’s been an absolute riddy of an exercise for the wee mhan.
Not since Paddy Roberts decision to head back to Man City has a player moved from hero to zero quite so quickly.
Agents; whit’re they like !!
BSR – impressive.
I had Tommy Johnson.
Missed McKinlay
Davie Adams – legendary goalkeeper from first six in a row team.
Frank Munro ( different spelling, so cheating a bit)
Surely ‘Jimmy’ Carter-Vickers can sneak in ?

Evening all.
BIG JIMMY
What price are tonight’s Celtic Team at the Bookies?
I’ve found some loose change down the back of the couch.😉
Mind in not fall asleep before the game ends.😂
The BB extended family are asking for you, big fella 💚💚
Keep bashing the Bookies.
………………….
I FAILED to Bash the Bookies last night as Celtic only won 1 – 0 v Queens Park.
I placed a small wager on Celtic to win 7 – 0 long BEFORE I saw the team news.
Celtic were 1/6 ON with the Bookies just to Win, so I only did a Correct Score Bet….or in my case…An ” INCORRECT SCORE BET”, that went Doon the Stank
LOL.
I hope that you and ALL the Family are Fit and Healthy.
Thanks for being a great mate.
HH.

Microphones picking up bad language at the game – must have been BRRB
……………….
IF only Celtic FC and Queens Park FC had KNOWN that BRRB was a CELTIC CASUAL for many years they wouldnt have given him that Complementary Ticket.
BRRB is the OLDEST Celtic Casual in town.
LOL
HH.
Good morning all.
Celtic casualty more likely. 😂

Ole Ole
Morning, all.
A big shout out to BRRB’S and AT for turning up and showing their respects yesterday, particularly with the horrible weather.
A truly great send off, fit for a Lion
Also great to see football nobility out in force, including my favourite pundits Roy and Ian.
HH to all.
So we have 2 plucky British players reaching the last 16 at Wimbledon yesterday but the bbc goes bonkers in their tennis coverage on the girl who lost in the last 32 in straight sets to a woman who has never won Wimbledon and who has won neither of the past 2 majors, despite her having massive partisan home support. Independent ….. yeah right ! This girl also likely to lose her recent ‘Britain number one positon’ but you probably wk t read that.
Greenpinata
Great turn out as it should be.
Everything about it was right and fitting.
EmeraldBee \o/ A Double Niner!! – 4th July
@ 2:16 pm,
”Chairbhoy, 100% in agreement there. That was as obvious an assault as you’ll see anywhere in the world of football, but not, it would appear, at Ibrox when perpetrated by a Sevconian. I thought he genuinely looked shocked at what had happened to him and who could blame him?
I’m repeatedly concerned that these types of assaults on our players, and they are frequent, usually draws no vocalised condemnation from our club. The reaction by Oor Brendan to the assault on Hatate up at Pittodrie was welcome (to me anyway), but not usual. These players of ours are at work and as such should be protected by the normal Health and Safety regulations.
If nothing else our club should recognise that their ‘assets’ are being harmed! (Will Reo be available for the start of the season?)
We see players of other clubs assaulted in other games across the country and the referees react instantly. But not when the green-and-white are involved?
I still maintain that Kieran’s growing fitness problems (in his early years with us) stemmed from some of the ludicrous kickings he got. The day he got stamped on the inner thigh, when he had just cleared a ball from a Motherwell player (and perhaps strangely it wasn’t Lasley in that instance) was the most vicious thing I’d seen in years, but no action taken, no great reaction from our guys on the touchline either. I would love to see our coaches react strongly and loudly when our players are badly fouled.
Ave Ave
Yes, well said, we need to express complete disgust at these assaults, with our players getting serious injuries, modern footballers won’t risk their careers.
We need to see many more red cards for these offences and once reviewed and the intentional and dangerous nature of the assault established, a longer ban imposed.
The only way I can see this is by getting someone like Nick de Marco KC involved.
Hail Hail
Spikeysauldman
Thanks for sharing the perspective on the 2 footballers demise.
A really thought provoking comparison.

Brilliant podcast and a very good guest Chocy bhoy
Enjoy
Good morning CQN.
GGH – Adams and Munro. Belters.
Adams in particular.
Celtic’s history is incredibly rich.
There are so many players from our past – particularly our first 65 years IMHO – just waiting to be storied.
One for the matchday experience folks I’d suggest.
Every domestic home game – how difficult would it be to run a 2-3 minute piece on the large screens …
Perhaps called “If you know its history” ….
With a montage of images and text about special people who’ve served the hoops since 1888.

Hail Hail Hayato
Big Hayato Inamura, well your face might be tripping you if you arrived in Mount Florida on a Friday night having come from Japan. Never heard of him? – which is exactly why he’ll be brilliant.
Defender from with a haircut that screams ‘will score against Rainjurz by accident,’ and a running style like Izaguirre in a wind tunnel.
I see the usual ‘net spenders anonymous’ group getting itchy fingers again. Same of the ones who called Reo a “squad filler” Daizen had “two left feet” and Kyogo was “invisible”.
The board are being careful — and that’s no bad thing when one big splash we made was Barkas and a box of Greek mythology.
Brendan’s clearly got a plan. You don’t bring in Tierney and now this Japanese ( ahem ) thoroughbred, unless the system’s locked in. This is the Celtic blueprint — not scattergun, but scalpel.
And while the rest of Scottish football is rearranging deckchairs on a boat they don’t own… we’re building a team that might actually do a turn in Europe.
Get the manager signed up. Get the players in, and keep the doom-mongers away from Eastern promises of our city.
Brendan’s comments on Kuhn lead me to believe he didn’t try very hard to convince him to stay. Definitely a good deal all round.
The chappie who comperes Off the Ball (not Tam Cowan) made a big mistake there (I think). He was saying that he would have loved to have been at the Real Madrid v Eintracht Frankfurt 7-3 game. Says it wasn’t live on TV. I am sure it was. I was about 10 at the time.
Brendan being undermined again, signing players he doesn’t want
Brendan wanted 4 players to improve the first team so far we have KT & Benji.
I strongly feel we need another midfielder who can win the ball able to protect and shield and pass quickly and make us more adaptable ideally with experience remember how good Mooy was for us and is the Japan forward Yamada the next poacher for all the chances we are going to create.
Mikey Johnston is poised for a move to Brazilian giants Flamengo after an impressive offer from the Rio de Janeiro-based club.
The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who left Celtic last summer, has scored three goals and provided five assists in 41 outings for West Bromwich Albion last season.
Flamengo have lodged a £5 million bid, which Albion appear close to accepting. Johnston has already said his farewells to the Baggies squad and will not be joining them on their pre-season tour, as he prepares to fly to Brazil to finalise the transfer.
The winger enjoyed a successful spell with Celtic, emerging from the academy ranks to make over 100 first-team appearances. During his six years at Parkhead, Johnston claimed multiple league titles and League Cups, earning praise for his flair and work rate.
Appears to me that Kühn has attitude issues and his body language over recent months shows that. A good profit and no loss, so we move on.
Welcome To Celtic Hayato Inamura…
Not made the updated squad list yet but it’s interesting reading – a bit of housekeeping yet to do there…
