Medical tomorrow as player agrees terms

620

I heard two bits of good news today.  First, and most importantly, season ticket sales have been fantastic.  We’re well on track to reach target.  We don’t know what next season will bring from several revenue streams, most importantly what European football will deliver, but knowing the income arriving from season tickets allows the club to make early decisions.

Specifically, a couple of hours ago we agreed terms (with player and club) for the outright purchase of a player, currently registered with an English Premier League club.  He  flies north tonight and will sign subject to a medical, booked for tomorrow.  I understand the coaching staff are delighted at the capture as he’s been our number one priority for some time.

Tip for the day: don’t ask ‘sources close to the club’ what the consequences of today’s result at Fir Park are for us, unless you want a lecture about how:
We’re on our own……
We know we’re on our own……
We’ll stand or fall on our own merits……
We don’t need money from two derby games that we could almost match from a good run in the cups……
We need to build a successful Celtic team……
We need to pull a squad together for the qualifiers……
We need five-in-a-row……
And none of this is changed whatsoever by who else is in the Premiership.  Not.  An.  Inch.

That’s me told.  I also got the feeling no one at Celtic has any appetite to be involved in the kind of scenes we witnessed at Fir Park today.  It’s not the image we have for our future.  We want a successful, family club, open to all.  As it has been since 1888.

Anyway, I’m sworn to secrecy on the identity of the player, but you’re smart, you’ll figure it out.  Well done with the season tickets, take a bow.

What a day. Just wish my dad could have lived to see this. But no doubt he’ll be having jelly and icecream up there with other good bhoys and Ghirls. I am soooooooo happy and I don’t care what this says about me – it’s bl**dy brilliant and I’m having a ball. Renewed my season tickets and can’t wait to get back to CP.

Hail Hail and here’s to a hun-free SPL

  4. I don’t give a tinkers F… What happened to that mob, up or down, we will rip them up like toilet paper, best thing that happens to Scottish football, in my opinion, and that differs from Kev J, is they are fecked, and that must pish him off, because that’s his safety net and they are still in the lower leagues, I blame the Motherwell goal scorers , and Peter Lawell.

  5. I’m a big feartie who knows nowt aboot fitba’………..that much is obvious, I expected the MIB to feature significantly today, delighted to be wrong.

  6. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Speylad from the last blog, that wee nyaff Valdimir Weiss, who the defunct club still owe Man City three hundred grand for, was another who got caught up in the ‘special atmosphere’ of playing for one of the two clubs that have played at Ibrox.

Novo is the worst example of it.

When Butcher was at Ibrox, he was askedif he liked bands like U2 and Simple Minds. He said no as he related both to Celtic and hated them.

Thankfully, Butcher’s wife put him back on some sort of sanity path.

i don’t think anyone has mentioned Craig Thompson today

He could have (in my opinion) have sent Pearson off early on, yes it may have been harsh BUT could have……instead he booked 3 of them in the first half.

    thoughts anyone.?

He’s been reading on here and realised how pish they really are; ergo the Mibbery just wasn’t worth it; ipso-facto the Hun Cheat couldn’t be arsed/feared us pumping them into abject humiliation.

Feb 1st, Broony puts LG cleans through to score our 3rd against them with only half an hour gone. Thompson hauls the game back for a late challenge on Broon after the ball was gone and denys us the advantage, prevents a riot/slaughter of the Zombies.

Barca score from an identical situation in the CL semi. Advantage played, goal given..

Hi bhoys and ghirls a wee appeal my daughter Elizabeth a long time season ticket holder since our return from hampden, and now has a son and daughter, season ticket holders, is running the Edinburgh marathon today Sunday 31/5/2015 on behalf of Celtic charity, the Celtic foundation. She has been training very hard and is looking forward to the run. If anyone would like to donate to the cause this is her address.

A wee aside Elizabeth’s birthday is on 6th November 1987 exactly one hundred years to the day, brother Walfrid, formed Celtic, a born Celt.

Well that’s the run over she finished in a time of 4hours 24minutes it was a great moment seeing her come up to the finish line. Proud as.

When we got back to the park and ride depot me and the wife went in to the premiere inn for a bite to eat, just as Motherwell scored their second goal a great day became a brilliant day, Hail Hail and thanks again to all CQNrs who sponsored Elizabeth and sent good wishes.

Sat thru losing league cup final against faith rovers.

    Sat thru Neuchatel etc.

Watched us sign players out the army.

Watched our best player Paul McStay running about trying to do it all, getting booked and sent off etc in frustration – ending his career like Terry Hurlock instead of Pirlo. (To a certain extent anyway)

    Plenty of us did.

    I was in my 20s.

    It was hard to take.

I didn’t mind today at all.
