MESSI, AGUERO BOOST

CELTIC’S Euro rivals Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero received a further boost today.

The pint-sized strikers have been called up by boss Edgardo Bauza for Argentina’s two World Cup qualifiers next month.

Messi, who was persuaded to peform a U-turn on his decision to retire from international football, is bang in form as he demonstrated with his three-goal display in Barcelona’s 7-0 win over the Hoops on Tuesday.

Aguero missed the 1-0 win over Uruguay and the 2-2 draw with Venezuala with a calf injury.

However, he, too, claimed a hat-trick in Manchester City’s 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach at The Etihad in midweek.

Aguero and Co will be at Parkhead a week on Wednesday for Matchday Two of their Champions League group.

The dynamic double-act could team up against Peru on October 6 and Paraguay five days later.

Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, overlooked by Bauza for the last two games, is also back in favour and there is a place, too, for Paris Saint-Germain’s Angel Di Maria.
