Michael, they have taken you away… from Ibrox

1425

If you aggregate the nods, winks and rumours around Celtic this week you might be inclined to think we’re in the market for a target-man striker with a few years’ experience under his belt.  I agree with the principle that we need a target man and I’m also of the view that short-term deals are not nearly as desirable as permanent contracts, but as we know, it’s too easy to load the club full of squad players who cumulatively cost a lot of money but scarcely trouble the first team.

Hooper, Stokes, Samaras, Bangura, Rasmussen and Murphy are all under contract for next season and we cannot be confident of attracting bids for any of those Neil Lennon might want to move on.  If we add a seventh striker, his name better be on the team sheet before Gary Hooper’s.  Signing an exotic version of Daryl Murphy would add spice to our week but would only consume scarce resources.  I’d rather not.

Co-opting a media partner works in theory.  It’s always better to have good relationships with the media than the kind of relationships Celtic perennially have, but what happens when your media partner plays with a straight bat?

Rangers media partner, STV, today report Nigerian trialist, Michael Uchebo, boarded a plane out of Glasgow a few hours after arriving (Michael, they have taken you away….) as the VVV-Venlo striker with 8 career goals to his name had “a poor first impression of” Rangers.

Michael, you clearly have a rubbish strike rate but you’re a remarkably perceptive individual.

  4. Celtic must wait a further month before discovering if they are to be punished by UEFA for crowd incidents during their Europa League match with Udinese.

The Hoops were charged for “the displaying of an offensive banner and setting off of fireworks by fans” at the mid-December game in Italy.

The SPL leaders subsequently banned a supporter for life who they said was responsible for displaying the banner and attacking a steward.

UEFA’s Control and Disciplinary Body had been due to hear the case on Thursday but it has since been moved to 24th February.

  9. I forgot to say that Pawel Brozek had few other options including those from other lands. Wisla Cracow, Polonia Warsaw tried to get him on loan. Legia Warsaw sent signals that would be interested but he played for our bigest rivals Wisla before a move to Turkey. He wanted to try again out of Poland.

Before that move to Turkey Fulham watched Brozek for longer than one year. They made a offer but Wisla wanted more.

When your media told that Brozek was close to Rangers I think it was TonyG the poster who asked me about my opinion. I told him more or less the same I told you today. I was not happy with the news about Brozek going to them and I was not sad. My opinion is Legia Warsaw fan opinion. As I said, Brozek played for our biggest rivals in Poland.

  10. Evening all,

    Long time, no post.

Stopped when it all got a bit negative then the team picked up and did better the longer I left it.

Did the same with Andy Murray today – every time I started watching he’d broken a server or won a set. While I watched, he only dropped points.

Was in Ireland for a few days, just back tonight.

Aye, the young fella was robbed of all his money yesterday, the money is not the bother, it’s his bank card, the company have gone from the cctv was grainey to the cctv was not working, I have told him to call the guards, he is reluctant, but, ffs, you should be able to go to your work and not be robbed.

The agency told him not to go back, they will find him something else next week, they then told him him the place has a reputation for robbing, sad state of affairs.

Shattered btw, so feckin tired I can’t sleep :>)
