Celtic will face Zenit St Petersburg on the last 32 of the Europa League in February next year. The first leg will be at Celtic Park on 15 February, three weeks before Zenit’s season resumes after a three-month winter shutdown, with the return leg a week later. They take to the field for the final time before the break tonight.
After going through the nerves of tackling mid-season Scandinavian opponents in the Champions League qualifiers, this draw is encouraging. While Brendan and the players have plenty of work today before our own three week break, they will be encouraged at the prospect of extending our run in Europe into the spring.
We’re happy.
Nice delivery this morning from the guys at @CQNMagazine @CQN Many thanks to @Cairney2 for the personal message. pic.twitter.com/83OUplyGDx

Good morning CQN – I would be grateful for the thoughts and prayers of this community for my friend John McG, wife H and family. John, a retired Fireman, originally from Hamilton has been based in Mansfield for many years, yet has commuted to Glasgow regularly to take his seat in section 105 of the North Stand in support of our team. A few months ago he told me of his son Graham, 44yrs of age, married with 3 young sons, a serving Fireman being diagnosed with an insidious form of cancer, secondaary deposits already in major organs. Despite surgery and aggressive Chemotherpy and Radiotherapy Graham lost his fight on 23rd of November. Thank you for listening.

That’s Sinclair now Boyata Lennons had a go at I would like to see him being called out on his comments on these players the sheer hypocrisy after the penalty in the Semi -Final and the tug back on Sinclair in the league game.He is not the Celtic manager and shouldn’t have a free pass to criticise our players as he pleases.
*Looking at the criticism/scorn we get fae wanker and ebtmccann I’m more than convinced it’s because we chased them or snubbed them, it’s a bit like the lemon curd you fancied and she lumbered someone else or dumped you (never happened tae me BTW lol), in your eyes they were now pigs with knickers on although if they came your way you would have run straight intae their arms.
If my memory serves me well I believe the latter had his agent contact us prior tae signing for them but TB reckoned Brian McLaughlin II was a better player and when he did sign on at bader park he was asked if he had a choice who would he have signed for, his reply was them as he would win more medals there.
I now see Lenny in the same vein, we replaced him with a manager he probably thought was inferior, mibbees he forgets about Ross County at hunden or ICT up there where a loss gave naesurname the League. Ronny won us 2 Leagues an LC and was cheated out of more cups, he also gave us KT.
He should be on his knees thanking the Lord he had the opportunity not just tae play for us but captain and manage. Don’t hear Stokies or wee McGeoch having a go at us, nor Nial McGinn either.
Don’t know what charlie nicks problem is, we gave him another payday when he was done even after he snubbed us twice, once for highbury and the 2nd time for the pen, should never have worn the hoops again.
Never hear former huns slagging off them either, no even ones that purport tae be Buddy or Morton fans. That blood oath must be powerful.

Russian and not Soviet then.
Dynamo Kiev (9 of whom were the Russian national team at the World Cup) kicked Tommy Burns off the pitch and knocked Celtic out of the European Cup in 1986
DESSYBHOY
Just next to Finland Dessy I guess one hour difference like here in Basel…
The travel/time thing shouldn’t bother us..
Bring on The Zenit’s!!
dessybhoy, it is about 2½ hours to St Petersburg by plane, then 2 hours to get from the airport to the stadium avoiding ambushes from groups of heavily armed thugs.

Are you serious about the armed thugs/
I’m sure Hawthorn will aware of the problems, no laughing now.
O.G.Rafferty, indeed, no Ukrainians allowed. We have played Dinamo Kiev on 6 occasions, winning just once (plus 3 draws and 2 defeats). They even had the audacity to eliminate the European Champions from the Big Cup at the first hurdle in 1967-8.
But they don’t count because they’re no longer Russian!

Sad stuff for your friends family

I take it you meant Walker :-) but other wits is probably more accurate :-)
dessybhoy, I’m sure there was a documentary all about the Russian football hooligans at a recent World Cup or Euro Champ Finals. And I seem to recall them mentioning armed gangs of Russian hooligans.
Doctors are reporting a national shortage of buttock implants and manufacturers say that they have a production issue that prevents them from meeting the supply – with no end in sight, doctors expect buttock implant demands to bottom out.
Wits should be word !
No wonder I only post at the weekend !

It’s easier and probably cheaper to get a firearm in Ruski than it is to get a Big-Mac :-)
Ammunition for said firearm is a totally different story :-)

my love and thoughts for your friend and family
Turning down the job he has cherished since he swapped his Predators for a padded gillet. Breaking the hearts of his own children who are not just Rangers diehards but who have been growing up at the family home in Renfrewshire over these last four-and-a-half years wondering if the guy with the whitening beard really does exist.

As Oscar Wilde said about the death of Little Nell,
“One must have a heart of stone to read the death of little Nell without laughing.”
Show me round your snow peaked mountains way down South
Take me to your Daddy’s farm
Let me hear your balalaikus ringing out
Come on and keep your Comrade warm
We’re back in the USSR
We don’t know how how lucky we are Bhoys

So are we now meant to dislike Neil Lennon?
As it happens he was never really my kind of player – though he was an effective one- and as a manager he had his downsides but he was better than his immediate successor and in Europe had some big nights which Brendan has not yet matched. And unlike KevJ recalls they were not all done parking the bus either. Far more on the credit side of the ledger for me
I do not mind ex-players or managers who do not sycophantically tow the Celtic line whether they be pundits or more actively involved in the game. I would though exenpt Andy Walker who really does seem to have sold his soyl.
Perhaps it would be better though if all our ex-players were sinoly more articulate versions of Derek Johnstone.
Still sniffling

Our games against St Johnstone at home and Aberdeen away will need to be moved to Sunday kick offs.
Dangerous territory.
Extreme language difficulties.
Everyone best stay at home.

*aye, another one that should never have been brought back, Macca made him first time round.
Dis-appointed in Lennon making derogatory comments about Celtic, you don’t get former rfc players or managers putting the boot in,they hold a consistent line.
Bit of self awareness for NL required,he can talk up his players all he wants, and that’s fair enough, but it is not his place to bad mouth the opposition.
Is he really saying given a choice he would have ” foul with impunity McGinn ” in his team for Wed. ahead of Brown, were he given a choice.
Lets see what he has to say after the game Wed.I hope Hibs win,but I fear they will be rolled over by that team we continue to laugh about but are now second and 4 points behind.
Zenit is a good draw.
Never thought I’d ever say this but I will be rooting for all the EPL clubs and Real Madrid in the CL knockout stages.
G64- the Thursday games are a pain, there was a plan last year to move EL to different midweek from CL, and play on a Tue/Wed, didn’t happen…

So are we now meant to dislike Neil Lennon? No,its the hypocrisy and singling out of Scott Sinclair in the League cup final after the penalty they got in semi final that annoys me.
