Celtic got the job done at Ross County yesterday with a performance that was far from their scintillating norm this season. This comes on the back of a home win over Hibs last time out, where again they struggled to breakdown an opponent, who on that occasion played the majority of the game with 10 men.
The games against County and Hibs were both played without Aaron Mooy and (apart from 13 minutes v Hibs) Reo Hatate. Celtic were poorer for their absence. Even defenders were less assured in possession, such are the options created for them by Reo and Aaron, not to mention their more obvious creative talents. We have learned some midfield truths these last two games.
Aaron will be back for Saturday. By then, Reo’s hamstring injury will have three weeks convalescence, which is just on the cusp of viability. Important though this game is, the Scottish Cup semi-final is the biggest game this month. I would be reluctant to jeopardise Reo for Hampden.
We don’t do this often enough, so…. great spot by VAR at Dingwall. Only Cameron Carter-Vickers saw the penalty. Sky TV’s “Shocking decision, it hit Carter-Vicker’s shoulder”, became “Shocking decision” only, when their video made it clear this was not the case. If only Sky staff watched Sky Sports their product would improve. Funny watching them squirm, I suppose.
Ah, Brendan, it was always going to end this way. Our former manager got 4 years at Leicester City before being mutual-ed out of a job yesterday. He improved Celtic immeasurably in his time here before throwing colleagues under the proverbial bus when they obstructed a bumper move to China. More on this later.

Unique goals at Ross County

PB,
aye, noted.
also 8 minutes of added time , if celtic had been 3 up they wouldf not have played that amount.
argentina, argentina , argentina
Ross County were well organised and made it difficult for us yesterday. Their pressing was good and as soon as a Celtic player received the ball a RC player was tight on top of him to deny him time to pick a pass. As I watched I wondered how long they would be able to keep up that level of concentration and endeavour. The answer: around 75mins. From that time onwards I noticed that we were receiving the ball without the immediate challenge from opponents. We started to get time on the ball and had passing options as our movement began to improve too. Oh proved to be a handful and he battered, barged and skilfully beat their defenders and had some good efforts on goal. We stuck to our task, played our football the Ange Postecogleou way and won the victory that our players’ efforts deserved. It
might not have been pretty to watch but that wasn’t exactly Celtic’s fault. We were trying to play football while Ross County were trying to stop us.

Didn’t know about Mike Pratt’s musical career or songwriting. I was also unaware of his early demise.
I’m pretty sure Little White Bull must have been a decent hit for Tommy Steele as, like you, I can remember hearing it a lot as a youngster.

428 days since Newco Rangers conceded a penalty in the league (29 January 2022).
1,266 days since an opposition team was awarded a penalty in a league game at Ibrox (14 September 2019).
Mike Pratt’s son is Guy Pratt, a very successful pop/rock bass player. He toured with Pink Floyd many times after Roger Waters quit. Was also a regular with Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry and has toured or played with just about everyone including Gary Moore, Madonna, Peter Cetera, Michael Jackson, the Smiths, Robert Palmer, Echo & the Bunnymen, Tears for Fears, Icehouse, Bananarama, Iggy Pop, Tom Jones, Debbie Harry and Whitesnake.
He does a great podcast with Gary Kemp called Rockenteurs. Some brilliant interviews.

I am going to bet that we get a penalty on Saturday.
An incident that is so blatantly obvious that they just cant not give it.
Maybe a diving save with two hands pushing the ball round the post by Goldson.
Or a Lundstrum last man tackle from behind as out player was about to put the ball in the empty net.
Or maybe McGregor with one of thos karate kick knee up lunges to a player on the edge of the box.
You know VAR favours us in these decisions ……… we have seen them all given (em ………..)
Good afternoon all from Ruglen, the home of the late and truly great, Bobby Murdoch.
I think I got called a “CQN stalwart” last night. How the hell did that happen? How do you become a stalwart? How did WITS manage to become one too? Is stalwarts the same as clique? Will I need St. Stiv’s to get me a new password? And is Opus Dei the next step up?
The only secret societies I have joined are The Boy Scouts and the Tufty Club, though I did win membership to the Marmalade Fan Club, via a Radio Luxembourg competition and got to meet them in a club in St. Enoch’s Square.
Seriously, Canamalar, if you think my silence on this issue had something to do with you revealing sources of funding, you can go on and declare yourself the winner. It is a convenient closed system- anything I like and agree with is due to the absence of nefarious funding (even if it is funded) but the guys doing the vast majority of the research are already bought and sold by Big Pharma, Big Tech (not Musk though), or Big Ears (definite shades of paedophile grooming going on there), then it’s heads I win and Tails I don’t lose- I just dispute the validity of Tails as a concept.
There were three reasons I stopped getting involved –
1) It was quickly degenerating into name calling and , while I can do it fine, I get no enjoyment out of it.
2) I didn’t feel I was dealing with someone whose ears were open and debate could be had without the rancour- more heat than light being generated
but the most important reason was
3) I can read a room; this was boring the arse of all other consumers and participants on CQN. I said I would leave if I thought we were becoming a cross between Fox News and Russia Today. The response of most CQNrs convinced me that this was unlikely to happen. But, as I said, feel free to call yourself a debate winner. I am just happy to see CQN not go down the rabbit hole after you.
P.S. Don’t be a stranger on my account. I welcome the views of TET and yourself on many issues – I just hope that you are happy in yourselves because you don’t sound it at the moment.
Death
Mike Pratt died from lung cancer in July 1976, aged 45. The following month, a show was staged at the Aldwych Theatre in London in his memory. The cast included Glenda Jackson, Kenneth Haigh and John Le Mesurier.[8] Of his co-star in Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased), Kenneth Cope said:
“Michael was a great loss, both to the industry and as a friend.”[8]
Personal life
His son is Guy Pratt, a session bass guitarist best known for his live performances with Pink Floyd (since 1987) and offshoot solo projects with David Gilmour and Nick Mason.

Cheers SP.
At what point, I wonder, could opposition managers say
“Sevco NEVER concede penalties in the SPFL”
Without being pulled up for it by the authorities.
Took over four minutes for VAR to rule on a West Ham goal yesterday, before ruling that the scorer Aguerd was not in an offside position from the free kick that preceded the goal. Fact is though there were at least three and almost certainly four West Ham players offside when the ball was played, in line with the asst ref. Four minutes to get the decision so wrong. VAR for the most part has been reduced to re-refereeing handball and offside decisions. A complete and utter waste of time and money, in our case Celtic’s money. As for our penalty, well, as Michael Stewart pointed out last night, this is what happens when decision makers do not understand how football is actually played. The softest penalty we will get all season.

“The boy scouts and the Tufty club. Ffs hahahaha 😂 😆
SFA chief Ian Maxwell moved to cool the panic over VAR – telling concerned players and coaches there is “no doubt” the technology is working in Scotland.
Virtually every manager in the Premiership has had a gripe with the technology since its introduction back in October, most recently Malky Mackay who was left fuming at the penalty awarded to Celtic against his Ross County side this weekend. Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes claimed it has affected referees who have been leaving big decisions to those in the video room while pundit and Record Sport columnist Chris Sutton recently called for it to be scrapped until Scottish refs can “use it properly.”

SFTB,
Oh dear, you say you can read the room, well done, some great room reading today eh :oD)))))
Did you ever read/look at any of the links/info provided?
That is usually when you go silent after your normal statements that justify yours and anyone else’s wilful ignorance.
Oh and you provided what was it 3 sources? to support your argument and every single one was debunked not all based on funding but you know that or would if you’d deemed the reply worthy of reading. You then slithered off without a word which implies you did read it because that is your usual strategy, do an oozlum bird until you think most have either forgotten, only to return with a completely new subject and fresh impetus. I’m seeing classic signs of narcissism in that behaviour too, I’m sure you also see it too, it really should embarrass you but I expect the typical behaviour that will do one of two things, slither off into silence again only to return with brand new observations about me, or try to turn the observation inside out and convince the world that I am the guilty one. And, while you will likely receive a lot of support (being a stalwart) the actual evidence is all laid out in black and white for any objective review.
‘GG on 3RD APRIL 2023 1:16 PM,
I’m surprised only three commented on the treatment of Kyogo.
A meeting of the Shipbank Shipwrecks has been called for 12pm at Saltmarket on Friday. I realise it’s Good Friday but if you can make it ,would be great to see faces old and new.

The REAL Tufty Club are meeting by the docks this Thursday to discuss “fings.”
Celtic Mac – I watched that game and yes, it took far too long to come up with the decision. I understand it’s difficult to come up with a definitive, factual way, to determine these decisions that will work for everyone. I’d prefer to go back to referees making the calls as they see them with some kind of oversight after the event to monitor ref’s decision making.
The goal that West Ham were given was in my mind offside because there were 3 or 4 players clearly in an offside position and interfering with play. The scorer came from deeper, but the defenders had to contend with the offside players before they could try make a challenge. Rather unfair on Southampton.
Kinglubo – The reason we got the penalty yesterday was because it hit the defenders arm. No need for any conspiracy theories.
P.S. was your P.S. a classic demonstration of the narcissism I referred to? Certainly looks that way, don’t you agree? or am I mistaking something else for narcissism prey tell ha ha ha ha.
I listen to what Ange actually says – he’s no liar! Hatate , Mooy and Taylor are fit and available for selection on Sunday. He said Hatate caught the tweak to hamstring early and smartly came off (professional unlike the Mickey j / Lennon incident – kept him out for weeks!!)
Play our strongest to win the game – psychological advantage for the semi
The weakness in out team is Taylor and Starfelt – EVERY team in the league targets their space! Lets hope they are back on form for this game – their distribution was woeful in the last couple of games (pitch didn’t help of course)
Given Kenneth Cope is still alive and Mike Pratt has passed they could change the great TV programme to Hopkirk and Randall (deceased)
Then again maybe not

The Japanese boy who did the Kyogo Documentary translations has now managed to do the whole documentary but isn’t able to put it up on You Tube due to copyright. Craig 76 on Sentinel Celts provided this link instead.
If you bookmark this twitter link you can go through each section at your leisure. Spoiler alert- his translations are very good but there is a great mistranslation of Dundee United in one of the episodes.
Enjoy!

When is a handball controversial ?
When Celtic get a penalty
That take, turn and run by Oh yesterday reminded me of a piece of superb skill that began West Brom’s Cyrille Regis’ Goal of the Season winner v Norwich back at the beginning of the eighties.
The late big Cyrille fair cannonball kid’d the finish right enough from 35 yards out, but Oh has plenty of time to learn how to put such icing on the cake.
