Midweek change for Celtic

Busy article today, watch out for notes at the bottom on:

Magners ticket competition for 27 December
Mary’s Meals Malawi school kitchen appeal
CQN Annual, final few posting days before…..
CQN Christmas Raffle – winners have been drawn

One of the resources Ronny Deila has been short of since taking over is training days.  Players have stamina, fitness and speed training work to do every week, while there’s rest time before and after games, so time to work on technical aspects are a premium.

Believe it or not, this is the first midweek Celtic haven’t had a game, or players away on international duty, since the second week of July.  The manager has spoken of how difficult it has been to carry out the extensive tactical changes he has introduced spending only stolen minutes working on them.  The January break will give him another opportunity to spend hours with the players on tactical work.

Apparently newco are keeping McCoist as some kind of blubber human shield for Monday’s AGM!  Nice one.  There’s nothing degrading about that, very classy in fact.  Really disappointed for Ally, I’m sure he could almost taste the £400k he’s counting on – to go quietly.  Let’s hope he puts on a show on Monday and they sort him out thereafter.

It’s almost worth buying a newco share to get along on Monday.  Almost.

It’s been a while since I’ve paid any attention to the man who’s apparently lined-up to replace McCoist next week, Billy Davies.  After his interesting second stint at Nottingham Forest ended earlier this year, The Guardian wrote:

“[Davies] has paid the price for failing to control a personality which latterly seemed to have crossed the border into downright paranoia.

“[He] could never quite escape his self-destructive insecurities.”

It’s not often you read a national newspaper liberally speculating on the mental health, or lack thereof, of an individual.

Failing to control his personality, downright paranoia, self-destructive insecurities!  He’s perfect.  Is there a job in the land this guy is more suited for than newco’s manager?

Our pals at Magners have kindly offered a pair of premium seat tickets to the Jock Stein Stand at the home game on 27 December in support of our Mary’s Meals appeal.  You can win the tickets by email me at celticquicknews@gmail.com the answer to the question:

Who do Celtic play on 27 December?

Competition closes at 22:00 tonight (Thursday) so get your entry in.

If you’re entering the competition please consider donating £1 to Mary’s Meals here, where we are hoping to build a kitchen at a school in Chibwata, Dowa, Malawi, for their 909 children.

I’d a look at John Guidetti’s interview with Magners this week, he looks like he’s enjoying himself……..

We’ve drawn the CQN Christmas Raffle, winner of the Special Whisky and CQN Package is ticket number 976, from a lucky reader based in Lythm, we’ll be in touch.

The four runners up all win CQN Packages with ticket numbers 1072, 974, 1190 and 1051, check your tickets, we’ll be in touch soon.

Still time to order your 2015 CQN Annual for Christmas.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – oh, and there’s tons of photos, fresh stories and comment on the first time Inter faced the green and white hoops.

  1. For all their cheating, for all the help they got over the years from various sources especially the SFA, where has it got them?

We have a pic on the CQN Magazine Facebook page – Bun fight at Poundland. Have a look – the misery is there for all to see.

For those who haven’t ordered a copy of the fabulous CQN Annual there is still time to receive it for UK delivery before Christmas. Indeed all orders at http://www.cqnbookstore.com will be posted same day and first class so you should receive Saturday or Monday if you order today.

  4. Interesting doc on the mind of a cyclist. Talking about the mental side of the sport. I think it shows how important mental “strength” is. About 20 mins in Chris Hoy talks about his training and his expectations… I think some footballers could take note.

  5. Tom, it’s more than that.

Only a few days ago, the SFA went public to warn Ashley about having too much influence and control at Poundland, in direct contravention to assurances given to them.

    His reaction?

To put his right hand man in the top job. No hiding, no sleight of hand. Just a massive vickies to Regan and the SFA.

If the SFA do nothing, they look pathetic, and are more clearly than ever unfit for purpose. But if they try to kick him out, life support is removed from the Ungrateful Dead (c. James Forrest).

The press have been quick to pounce on Tonev for breaking the rules. Clear as day, Ashley is doing the same. We await the reaction of the bold Tom English et al…

I pointed out the very same thing with Jake the snake this morning!

    Very strange.

What I find even more strange is Celtic and Tonev still have the option for take it further yet every man and his dog want an apology or are calling out for this and that.

He’s clearly guilty in their eyes and that wont change even if Celtic and Tonev do take it further.

To me it signals that Ashley is here for the medium term at least. He wants control, and Ibrox will be run his way.

He wants his loans paid back, and he wants to protect his control over the club’s merchandising.

His contempt for the SFA is obvious, and utterly humiliating for them. This is what happens when you spend years trying to appease a bunch of sociopathatic bullies. They’ll never thank you for it.

What all that means for the Huns in the longer term is too early to say, but I don’t think he comes bearing gifts this Christmas…

  8. deniabhoy,

It must be either a very large carpet with all of the other matters buried under it or perhaps they’ve got a magic carpet that makes their embarrassing shenanigans disappear completely.

The ‘only way to alter that sad state of affairs is to

    Sack The Celtic Board.

There is only one group of people who, if driven properly and focused…can knock Scottish Football down and, rebuild it – properly.

That group of people….the supporters of Glasgow Celtic.

Not too long ago, I believe I would be correct in saying that Celtic’s fans generated 33% of the financial turnover in Scottish Football?

If I’m wrong…I bow to whoever has the superior knowledge.

Now,back to my point….Celtic supporters – organised / driven / focused…could save the game in this country by, flexing their considerable muscle and, it is considerable.

If, the Celtic support are driven by a desire for ‘freedom from the masonic clutches’ and not allowing themselves to be ‘easily’ duped by cheap Rory Bremner types of throw away lines at yet another ‘cosy’ AGM then, positive / honest / productive initiatives could be embarked upon with close allegiance with ‘all’ other clubs fans and not just a chosen few to, take the bold steps to move the game forward and not – park it in a lay-bye – awaiting the return of the cheating / mibbery-assisted huns.

First things first…Celtic fans, before they become all revolutional or, rebellious…have to solve the problems in their own home.

The current Celtic board have to be gotten rid of or – the game in this country will die due to, self preservationist hun collusion.

Get the Celtic support to with-hold next seasons SB money and, if DD wants to be in control of Celtic then, he’ll have to realise that with that control comes a, great responsibility. The with-holding of SB money might sound archiac and, probebly is.

But, wasn’t it equally archaic when Celts For Change ‘influenced’ to support to, bhoycott the Killie game at home in 1994 – to save the club by Sacking The Board?

The 1994 Celtic Board were sacked to allow Celtic FC to rebuild and move forward by building a stadium that the Celtic fans paid for with their own money.

There is a different dynamic involved with the, 2014 Celtic Board.

This time the fans ‘have to’ get rid of a Celtic Board who, by their own duplicity have made ‘every’ Celtic fan a potential criminal. That is not on.

The present Celtic Board have sold the clubs soul to all the devils at park gardens.

Or, their in the process of doing so.

They cannot be trusted and have to be gotten rid of.

So, it’s up to each Celtic fan to decide to either, realise that ‘you’ have the key to Celtic fans freedom from the SFA / hun establishments bondage or, ‘you’ can continue to, not even get on the bus to sit at the back….?!?!?

The simple formula….tell the board that, if they want ‘your’ SB money, then they will have to hand over control of the club to – Celtic supporters – just like Fergus promised….Aye.

    Sack The Board

    Tamerlane.

    The personification of evil.

I cannot say for certain if the information written below is historically accurate,or not:

Tamerlane’s body was exhumed from his tomb in 1941 by the Soviet anthropologist Mikhail M. Gerasimov.

It is alleged that Tamerlane’s tomb was inscribed with the words, “When I rise from the dead, the world shall tremble.” It is also said that when Gerasimov exhumed the body, an additional inscription inside the casket was found reading, “Who ever opens my tomb, shall unleash an invader more terrible than I.”In any case, the same day Gerasimov begun the exhumation, Adolf Hitler launched Operation Barbarossa, the largest military invasion of all time, upon the USSR.

Incredible if true all the same.

  22. Mornig All,

Can some post Winning Captains e-mail address please, need to ask him somethig.

    Thanx in advance.

  23. I was reading back to captain beef hearts views on the term the back of the bus.

The term is of course analogous. It represents the special treatment meted out to a victimised minority.

I am of course not making a direct comparison to the suffering of black Americans. However the root cause of the alienation of irish catholics in Scotland and black Americans is the same. The homogeneous majority, largely through fear, castigating the minority.

In Scotland it just so,happens that that minority are irish catholics and in particular celtic fans.

I have noticed a change in Scotland and not for the better. Those claiming this is ancient history of course merely need to be referenced to the OB act and the actions of the police thereafter.

But the change I now see is that growing numbers of celtic fans are now falling for the wallowing in victimhood line and or stating that celtic fans are taking a holier than thou attitude.

I find it interesting that this notion is growing in popularity. My friends count among this.

Here we are with open and wanted corruption taking place around us. I charge celtic with engagement in that. It’s purpose is to restore upon us the main vehicle for sectarian acts against us. To return us to what the majority see as our rightful place in society.

And yet growing number of celtic fans are turning on their own for being self righteous about it. Why?

    I honestly can’t fathom it.

I know many of the guys I go to the games with just want a return to playing the Hun. Like a normal order will be restored. I can figure it out? Why go back to being a vi time. Isn’t that wallowing in victimhood.

Perhaps the good bloggers of cqn can hel me understand?
