Midweek change for Celtic

940

Busy article today, watch out for notes at the bottom on:

Magners ticket competition for 27 December
Mary’s Meals Malawi school kitchen appeal
CQN Annual, final few posting days before…..
CQN Christmas Raffle – winners have been drawn

One of the resources Ronny Deila has been short of since taking over is training days.  Players have stamina, fitness and speed training work to do every week, while there’s rest time before and after games, so time to work on technical aspects are a premium.

Believe it or not, this is the first midweek Celtic haven’t had a game, or players away on international duty, since the second week of July.  The manager has spoken of how difficult it has been to carry out the extensive tactical changes he has introduced spending only stolen minutes working on them.  The January break will give him another opportunity to spend hours with the players on tactical work.

Apparently newco are keeping McCoist as some kind of blubber human shield for Monday’s AGM!  Nice one.  There’s nothing degrading about that, very classy in fact.  Really disappointed for Ally, I’m sure he could almost taste the £400k he’s counting on – to go quietly.  Let’s hope he puts on a show on Monday and they sort him out thereafter.

It’s almost worth buying a newco share to get along on Monday.  Almost.

It’s been a while since I’ve paid any attention to the man who’s apparently lined-up to replace McCoist next week, Billy Davies.  After his interesting second stint at Nottingham Forest ended earlier this year, The Guardian wrote:

“[Davies] has paid the price for failing to control a personality which latterly seemed to have crossed the border into downright paranoia.

“[He] could never quite escape his self-destructive insecurities.”

It’s not often you read a national newspaper liberally speculating on the mental health, or lack thereof, of an individual.

Failing to control his personality, downright paranoia, self-destructive insecurities!  He’s perfect.  Is there a job in the land this guy is more suited for than newco’s manager?

Our pals at Magners have kindly offered a pair of premium seat tickets to the Jock Stein Stand at the home game on 27 December in support of our Mary’s Meals appeal.  You can win the tickets by email me at celticquicknews@gmail.com the answer to the question:

Who do Celtic play on 27 December?

Competition closes at 22:00 tonight (Thursday) so get your entry in.

If you’re entering the competition please consider donating £1 to Mary’s Meals here, where we are hoping to build a kitchen at a school in Chibwata, Dowa, Malawi, for their 909 children.

I’d a look at John Guidetti’s interview with Magners this week, he looks like he’s enjoying himself……..

We’ve drawn the CQN Christmas Raffle, winner of the Special Whisky and CQN Package is ticket number 976, from a lucky reader based in Lythm, we’ll be in touch.

The four runners up all win CQN Packages with ticket numbers 1072, 974, 1190 and 1051, check your tickets, we’ll be in touch soon.

Still time to order your 2015 CQN Annual for Christmas.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – oh, and there’s tons of photos, fresh stories and comment on the first time Inter faced the green and white hoops.

The amateurs I know are like that too. Never miss some kind of training, whatever the weather. Including going out at 11 for an hour before bed. Bonkers.

You want Celtic to come out of the CL when Juventus are in it? Proven to be cheats and demoted because of it.

Why would you believe Keevins? Scottish Football is a tiny goldfish, and nobody would have an exclusive like that for that length of time. It would have come out long before now.

I think the most plausible explanation is that all the clubs knew a deal was going to be made but were kept at arms length from the details. This would be seen as the best for both sides. Doncaster and Regan get what they feel they need and the clubs have deniability on being involved.

I suspect the likes of Eric Riley maybe even knew roughly what it would entail without being involved at the detailed level.

The notion that Celtic were involved in actually drafting it is laughable.

  7. LiviBhoy, I didn’t say Celtic should withdraw because Sevco are in a competition so that point doesnt really make sense to me at least.

I said I wouldn’t want to play them, not the same thing.

Juve, as you say were caught and punished, they did the time so to speak, not graciously, they still claim the stripped titles I think.

Sevco go unpunished, and are still spending more than they can afford.

So, no, is the short answer.

  8. Oops I missed the word ‘bowl’. Although I do quite like the idea that Scottish Football is actually a tiny goldfish.

  9. LiviBhoy, another point.

Why would I want Celtic to withdraw from a tournament because of anothers cheating?

What I would want, do want, is the cheat dealt with appropriately.

Weeminger. I didnt say I believed Keevins I said if it was right. It just makes me wonder and Celtic have not disputed it what the situation is with resolution 12 if Keevins is right. H.H.

You’d think that if a journalist were going to make a specific remark about, say Peter Lawwell, then that journalist would have checked and double-checked his facts before opening his mouth on air. You know – just to be sure there’s no possibility of legal action etc.

But then Mr. Keevins has previous when it comes to blurting out sensationalist nonsense designed purely to grab a headline. I find it impossible to believe anything he says.

  12. Doc

Rangers died. They can say all they want they are a new club but they are not. Whatever they won previously is irrelevant. Let them keep their tainted honours. It is now Celtic’s time. Sevco should never win the SPFL Premiership and neither should any other tribute act that come along.

What’s done is done. We know the truth. Their fans will disappear. They already are.

I would love the old club to be stripped titles but it isn;t happening. It may come around again. There are still outstanding court cases. If HMRC win their appeal then the case must be reheard for the EBT’s and titles may be stripped then.

I wouldn;t waste too much of my time and energy worrying about it. It is going through the legal process at the minute.

Juventus are cheats. There are cheats all over Europe and beyond. This is the modern game. We just have to get on with it. We beat what is in front of us. It’s on the pitch that matters.

I went to q&a session with paul mcstay here in oz.

He said he missed the huns .. I was gutted to hear that but had think about it.

Watching celtic beat rangers is one of my favorite things in life and seeing them suffer this past 2 years has been great.

But if I was a player id love to have the chance to beat rangers and score on a regular basis.. its what alot of us dreamed about as waines.

No matter what happens there will be a bigoted football club in scotland who wear blue.. of that I have no doubt. Best we can hope for is too dominent them and hopefully watch them struggle in what ever league there in

Oh and see celtic men bust their net when given the chance.

  14. Rube paid the fine and did the given time . They continue to claimed the stripped titles .

Rube accepted that one of their employees ( Moggi ) committed the relevant crimes but have always insisted that he was acting alone and without their knowledge .Moggi was jailed .

Rube recently ” forgave ” Moggi . Moggi responded that since Rube continued to claim the relevant titles , he felt no need to be forgiven . .

It should be noted that Milan were up to some of the same tricks as Moggi , they just were not as good at it.

Apologies just on my break. If we’re talking about the same person then I think you’re right.

Show Racism the Red Card are a joke.

For years anti Irish racism has been expressed in football stadiums the length of the country and their silence has deafened us and shamed them.

  17. Just passing through as I await Santa’s arrival at our usual meeting point….

Have to say this….Hugh Keevins has ‘more’ Celtic-ness in his little finger than, the entire Celtic hierarchy have amongst them – just like the Legendary Gerry McNee before him.

Then again….the more clued-up you are about the Celtic….the ‘more’ the hierarchy will see you as a threat and will tell the deluded sheep who canny see through them that, you are a threat or a, anti-Celtic bogey man or, a wolf in sheep-clothing like Fergus ‘childishly’ did with Brian Dempsey.

Yeah, the bigger the Celtic heart you’ve got….the more chance ‘you’ll’ be on the outside, looking in.

    Deluded / easilly-kidded sheep are killing Celtic…….slowly.

That has to stop – up the rebels – down with the sheep.

What will the cry of the future be?

“We don’t care what the animals say – what the hell do we care….for we only know, that there’s gonnae be a show and the Glasgow Celtic will be there.”

    Or, baaaaaaaa?

    Only ‘you’ can decide……

    Bye.

    Good post.

I have never understood this notion that a club which was liquidated ‘got away with’ anything. And the fiction they created can be unpicked without any effort.

The reality is, what has emerged as a tribute act, is the laughing stock of football. Supporters of every club in Scotland ridicule Sevco on a daily basis.

The make it so easy for everyone to do so.

  19. HT,

No apologies needed. I have been out myself and the ole tinternet has been playing up.

Yes, I remember this chappie, who seemed the big cheese from Show Racism the Red Card, being interviewed while queuing up outside Ibrox for a game once upon a time

  20. From this week’s Football Italia. Amazing how non-Scottish media have no problem with telling the truth :

Former Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso admits that he would love to manage Scottish side Rangers.

Current Gers manager Ally McCoist tendered his resignation last week, but it is not yet clear whether he will continue as boss at Ibrox as the club ponders whether it can afford to pay him off.

The club was liquidated in 2012, with a new club being granted entry to the lowest tier of Scottish football. McCoist transferred his contract over from the old club and helped Rangers up the leagues, but has resigned with the club in the Scottish Championship.

  21. I object to ex players saying they want rangers back – i have no problem if they said that they would like to play the new club.

  22. Joe Filippis Haircut;

Any chance you could point me in the direction of the Keevin’s ‘five-way-agreement’ (bendy-bendy)

And God help him if he is being less than honest in it because the Celtic Legal Eagles are circling to prove they are not all absolute masonic door mats.

  23. KevJungle – “RFC / SFA / Scottish establishments biggest fear is that – one day – Celtic Football Club will be run by rebellious Celtic fans who – dont – kow-tow to a hun establishment”. Simples.

I think we all agree that we like beating a Rangers team. We don’t like losing to them.

Do we miss the games? Course we do. In all honesty they are the ones we all looked for to. Time will not be kind to them. The courts are still working through their case.

What we face in the next few weeks is a new club in my eyes. The support is the same though and I hope Celtic go out and destroy them on the pitch. The best way to hurt them is to bulge their net multiple times.

Now, all kidding aside – ye know that your being rediculous, right?

I have been out of the Celtic scene as an active fan since MO’N left and, the ‘bored’ announced that they’d be bringing in WGS to start – downsizing but, failed to also point out that, although the ‘quality’ of the product on the pitch would be greatly cut(as the huns were downsizing at the same time)…the fans admisson fees would remain the same?

So, in effect….they wanted Celtic supporters to continue to pay top dollar for an inferior product and…not one sheep questioned this?

I wouldn’t have a scooby as to how to start a Celts For Change 2?

If, I knew how, I would have done so before now.

Who knows….maybe the growing number of empty seats will start a CFC2 far quicker than I could?

Anyway….as always…nice to talk – have to go now – Hail Hail – bye.

Does it not get exhausting being in a constant state of rebellion and outrage? It can be tiresome just reading some posts from yourselves and others so I can only imagine the strain it must put on your life with these thoughts running through your mind all day.

Most days over the last few years as well as enjoying Celtic winning trophies and big European nights I have indulged in a chuckle at a new club pretending to be a old club. It’s been a blast. These are good times, my friend.

Our board aren’t prefect. I don’t think anyone would claim they are. Neither are they siting around plotting how to damage Celtic and help Newco Rangers.

  28. I’ve listened to and read some eejits in my time, but anyone who thinks Keevins or McNee are dyed in the wool Celtic men is one sausage short of a breakfast. Keevins is barred from Celtic Park, and that takes some doing. I remember his article (anyone got it?) where he stated in print he would fearlessly report the truth. A bit like that Tory bloke who talked about the “Sword of Justice” and finished up in jail. To think that they have the likes of Hugh McIlvanney as an example to follow. Do they get someone to shave them in the mornings so that they don’t have to look at themselves?

  29. LiviBhoy:

Just imagine… now I’m only saying – just imagine – just for a moment now – hypothetically and all that – that the next time we ever play a senior Rangers (or a club calling themselves Rangers with the emblematic ‘five stars’ of hubris on their breast) club, just imagine they actually end up beating us….

  30. LiviBhoy, indeed.

    beating them was a joy.

    But it’s in the past.

It’s the future that concerns me more.

A big game is on the horizon.

    Bring on the Inter.

  31. Raymac:

Celtic barred a lot of young boys from Parkhead (post Motherwell and guilty of hee-haw) for being affiliated to the Green Brigade… just saying like.
