Midweek change for Celtic

940

Busy article today, watch out for notes at the bottom on:

Magners ticket competition for 27 December
Mary’s Meals Malawi school kitchen appeal
CQN Annual, final few posting days before…..
CQN Christmas Raffle – winners have been drawn

One of the resources Ronny Deila has been short of since taking over is training days.  Players have stamina, fitness and speed training work to do every week, while there’s rest time before and after games, so time to work on technical aspects are a premium.

Believe it or not, this is the first midweek Celtic haven’t had a game, or players away on international duty, since the second week of July.  The manager has spoken of how difficult it has been to carry out the extensive tactical changes he has introduced spending only stolen minutes working on them.  The January break will give him another opportunity to spend hours with the players on tactical work.

Apparently newco are keeping McCoist as some kind of blubber human shield for Monday’s AGM!  Nice one.  There’s nothing degrading about that, very classy in fact.  Really disappointed for Ally, I’m sure he could almost taste the £400k he’s counting on – to go quietly.  Let’s hope he puts on a show on Monday and they sort him out thereafter.

It’s almost worth buying a newco share to get along on Monday.  Almost.

It’s been a while since I’ve paid any attention to the man who’s apparently lined-up to replace McCoist next week, Billy Davies.  After his interesting second stint at Nottingham Forest ended earlier this year, The Guardian wrote:

“[Davies] has paid the price for failing to control a personality which latterly seemed to have crossed the border into downright paranoia.

“[He] could never quite escape his self-destructive insecurities.”

It’s not often you read a national newspaper liberally speculating on the mental health, or lack thereof, of an individual.

Failing to control his personality, downright paranoia, self-destructive insecurities!  He’s perfect.  Is there a job in the land this guy is more suited for than newco’s manager?

Our pals at Magners have kindly offered a pair of premium seat tickets to the Jock Stein Stand at the home game on 27 December in support of our Mary’s Meals appeal.  You can win the tickets by email me at celticquicknews@gmail.com the answer to the question:

Who do Celtic play on 27 December?

Competition closes at 22:00 tonight (Thursday) so get your entry in.

If you’re entering the competition please consider donating £1 to Mary’s Meals here, where we are hoping to build a kitchen at a school in Chibwata, Dowa, Malawi, for their 909 children.

I’d a look at John Guidetti’s interview with Magners this week, he looks like he’s enjoying himself……..

We’ve drawn the CQN Christmas Raffle, winner of the Special Whisky and CQN Package is ticket number 976, from a lucky reader based in Lythm, we’ll be in touch.

The four runners up all win CQN Packages with ticket numbers 1072, 974, 1190 and 1051, check your tickets, we’ll be in touch soon.

Still time to order your 2015 CQN Annual for Christmas.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – oh, and there’s tons of photos, fresh stories and comment on the first time Inter faced the green and white hoops.

What I would like to see is an honest game honestly governed.

What Rangers have done is irrevocably broken the trust on which all sport, not just football is based.

They cheated -end of – and it does the game no favours to pretend it did not happen.

That leaves us two options in respect of their future

    A. To stop them playing in our game.

    B. To allow them to play but change the rules to stop the kind of cheating they indulged in.

That basically took the form of not providing the information they were supposed to provide under the rules to allow an honest game to exist.

I can cite examples from 2000 to back up this point.

So left with a club you cannot trust but whose income you want, what do you do but strengthen the policing of the rules so that proof is required that what they say is actually true.

That means putting in place a governance system that is up to that job.

You can have A but stronger governance by SFA is essential if B is the choice taken.

So far I see little recognition of the real problem hence no sign of required solution.

I was walking back to the station after filming my interview and thought, ‘I’ll call my Mum and tell her how I got on…..’ Then you remember.

No more ‘no shows’ from you mind. You had us all worried!

In my opinion should B be the option our board will have to communicate with the fans of Celtic FC who are staying away at present due to the issues you mention, how this has changed , to expect the absent support to come back in any numbers without this will just not happen, I hope the board are aware of this.

  17. Auldheid I was going to respond to Horrid Henry earlier but I didnt know where to start. As ever you display a patience I do not posses.

We need to face to some very ugly truths as oppossed to the normal beautifully crafted lies that the scottish football authorities and our MSM have been spinning.

Celtic colluded on the 5 way agreement. There is no way that they didnt. Ergo we must conclude, despite previous denials (now gone quiet) from our host, that they wanted the Sevco in the SPL but punished scenario.

Once the fans revolted, celtic got scared.

They realised that this could permanently damage celtic. The support would schism badly and many thousands lost forever.

They couldnt deny their collusion because, in the fullness of time it would of course emerge. Better say nothing then and hope when it comes out everyone has moved on.

But who could bet on the stupidity of the newco inherited from the oldco. The circus hasnt stopped and now the cards are starting to be shown.

PL goes into panic mode and starts telling us it costs 10M a year without the hun. It is of course nonsense but he has to scare us.

The truth is slowly being seeped into the mainstream. They hope we are so bored and innured we wont notice.

But sadly there are many who are watching.

And the real ugly truth and hard thing to accept?

We now know the game in scotland is rigged. Its a play. Rooted in sectarianism (bigotry is good for business after all) and pretend pantomine heroes and villans.

The whole set up is rigged. From the government to the football authorities to the MSM. How could it not be when they all spin the club/company line together, in unison. How else could airdrieonians re-emerge and noone say a thing.

And if this can be arranged then why not fixing the matches themselves? Havent we thought that for years?

So how to respond if you are a non sevco supporter and in particular a celtic supporter.

Do you pretend this hasnt happenned or isnt happenning? Do you play your part in the pantomime? That of the plucky underdog. doomed to be dominated by the establishment club. Pretend that you are fighting a cause, a rebel, that could result in a positive outcome. Feed a club that was born to support the poor but is an embarresmment in terms of corporate governance that would shame the banks?

Feed the sectarianism because its good for business?

    Or do you face reality?

    The gig is up.

    A rigged game.

    Where we are willing victims.

Sent to the back of the bus again.

Do we turn our backs on the farce that scottish football really is and what our club has become?

Or a third alternative. We rebel against those colluding within our club?

Its isnt easy giving up something you love so much is it? But are you willing to live a lie?

  20. Hun skelper. The media are now talking openly about it. Celtic say nothing. And in any case it is simply inconceivable that celtic didn’t know and agree to the 5 way agreement.

    Are you denying that?

  21. For those that cant get link opened.

LEIGH Griffiths will lead the line for Celtic tonight in the Development Squad’s English Premier League International Cup match against Sunderland.

Stevie Frail’s side will take on the Black Cats Under-21 team in their second match of the new tournament after drawing 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park on November 25 in their opening game.

Griffiths will be supported by Paul McMullan, Joe Thomson and Kieran Tierney in attack as part of a 4-2-3-1 formation as the Hoops look to solidify their position at the top of their group in the prestigious competition with a win on Wearside.

CELTIC (4-2-3-1) Fasan; Fisher, O’Connell, Findlay, Waters; Henderson, Lindsay; McMullan, Thomson, Tierney; Griffiths.

SUBS: Hart, Keller, Nesbitt, McCart, Breslin, Donnelly, McIlduff.

I must confess that The People are serving up some wonderful seasonal fare this year.

Unlike their hapless footie team they really are good value.

You need conflict for drama and the dignified ranks of the uber loyal at Ibrox have not failed us.

Well that is not correct in every sense as they have in fact failed in every sense, but hey ho.

It is clear to this outsider that, as a group of people The People are horribly divided.

    This just won’t do.

What is required is for some chap to step forward and be suitably Churchillian.

Personally I would like to see Mr Bomber make a return.

As we approach the centenary of that iconic kick about on the Western Front someone will have to step up and walk slowly forward extending the hand of friendship. A bar of Sainsbury’s chocolate might help.

Failing that a kebab would do.

At the moment the managerial reputation of Mr Super is hanging on the old barbed wire.

Even he now seems to be a cause of dissention in the ranks.

Of course as the ripping and tearing becomes more vicious so the wounds will heal.

Where once there was brotherly love there is now only enmity.

    This is very sad.

AS fir the rest of Planet Fitba, well they are either averting their eyes from the appalling vista or ghoulishly rubbernecking at the carnage.

The footie experts I have spoken to in the last week have all said without prompting that they do not think that The Rangers Football Club are guaranteed to make it into the top flight via the Play Offs.

Sadly a lot of them focussed on Mr Super and said that, in their opinion, he lacked the basic abilities of a football manager.

The usual board meeting today will have a seasonal flavour. It is the time of the year for mince pies and party games.

I suspect that “Llambias says” will be on the agenda.

Anything else is simply a charade.

The New Year will not be a happy one for The People.

Yes yes I know they claim not believe the output here.

However I have sources that inform me that this site is becoming something of a guilty secret among the more erudite of the Ibrox tendency.

If you care, dear reader, to look back across this year on this site then the broad narrative has been correct in all major issues.

At the moment The People are in pain.

Moreover, they are disunited and they have no plan.

It is all rather sad to observe.

However, the truth that they needed was always here.

  23. Ands it’s not another pop just the same old one. Just reminding you of it. Some seem to have forgotten.

  28. Have just seen the team news for the development squad.

The term “constructive dismissal” seems to be in vogue at the minute, particularly in terms of Swally, the poor wee soul as the SMSM amazingly still dance to his tune.

However in some ways it seems to me like Celtic are behaving in exactly the same way playing Griffiths tonight in the development squad. Very, very shoddy behaviour, IMHO and I think unbecoming of our great club. The player must be feeling pretty low with, I believe, this undeserved treatment.

  29. Bhoys & Ghirls,

the reason oor club has unbroken history? We stuck together in oor hour of need.

Sevco support has mair divisions than a primary 7 maths test. The establishment want us to self implode to make their path to the top a clear one, don’t let that happen. We’re on the one road (must be a song in there somewhere). Back the team back the club and smile at our former foes, kills them you know.
