Migration is beneficial. Even in football

310

If Gary Mackay-Steven moves from Celtic to Aberdeen he will be the third creative midfield player to transfer between the clubs this window. Ryan Christie’s loan to Aberdeen was extended for this season. Jonny Hayes move to Celtic created a vacancy on Aberdeen’s right, and in doing so moved Mackay-Steven down the Celtic pecking order. On paper the move north would be great for the Celtic winger.

This is not quite the top two clubs collaborating on squad management, but it’s as close as you are likely to get. Aberdeen would have preferred to keep Hayes, but with money on the table for a player running down his contract he was sold to the highest bidder: Celtic.

Christie was brought to Celtic by Ronny Deila as a development project. Openings for the creative mid slots at Celtic are incredibly competitive. The risk to Christie is that his development, which was purring along nicely at Inverness, stalls in the Celtic stands. It is in Celtic’s and his best interests that the he plays regularly in an attacking team.

Mackay-Steven has a glorious first few weeks at Celtic but has been hampered by the perennial burden of wingers: consistency. His confidence appears shot. If he moved to Pittodrie, Derek McInnes may be able to get the best out of him.

There’s an empirically established economic fact: migration is economically beneficial for both the gaining and losing nations. This summer’s proposed migration between Celtic and Aberdeen is likely to fall into this category.

    TTT,

Oh and he coached him to be good enough to become an Aberdeen regular eh, just the type of quality we need for the champions league.

  3. Canamalar, You are entitled to your opinion re GMS & Hayes, but it appears that Brendan disagrees with you, which is far more important than either TTT or myself.

For the record I agree with TTT, I think Hayes will be very effective in the SPFL maybe not what is required for Group Stages Champions League but overall a very valuable squad member as we set out to defend our Titles.

There’s a problem with Celtic not taking the tickets for Friday’s match. Some Tims will inevitably attempt to go and place themselves in real peril.

  6. TONYDONNELLY67 @ 6:31 PM,

You are of course correct though.

We should not get too overwrought on Penalties and Title Stripping.

    A review is what’s called for…

Due to a certain amount of confusion on my part I read some of the SPL Commissions Decision Document.

It is worse than I remembered and in hindsight is very embarrassing in key places.

I’m in Benidorm now. The place is so big with at least 60% Spanish holiday makers, not to mention Dutch Belgian and Russians that I’ve come across. In the grand scheme of things the huns (most NI) are a drop in the ocean. They’re only noticeable because they insist on wearing their gear even in 85 degree heat.. Up until today I saw very few of that mob but Holy jeezus what a sight now. I was watching a band at four o’clock when five NI couples walked in, FTP tattoos the lot. The grotesque looking wives were worse than their men, who just looked aggressive and drunk. Anyway they didn’t get served thankfully. I heard last night a group of them were sashed up on the promenade and a fight kicked off but as is usually the case the Spanish cops don’t mess about, and some were huckled. This sounds like a bad review but I can’t see past Benidorm for all it has to offer. It’s just that the Orange Hun are not only a blight on Scottish and NI society, they export it to some holiday resorts every July, just like their Oldco warmongering fans used to do all the over Europe. Btw every Tim I’ve met has called for title stripping. It’s also reassuring to hear Spurs Liverpool and Millwall fans being well up to date on the tax verdict.

    Grammer? seriously? :-)))

For me, enquiry and inquiry are generally interchangeable but, of course, inquiry tends to mean formal rather than just asking. So, in that you are correct, but rather a pedant perhaps. Nothing worng with that ether.

Totally agree. They are the same thing but Inquiry was the official name.

But actually, as there was a SFA LNS Inquiry and a SPL LNS Commission (both were Enquiries BTW:)))) it can be confusing.

Noticed Celtic called it the SPL Commission.

Think there was good reason for that.

  15. The despicable sentiments aimed at Scott Sinclair on the bonfire in celebration of “peepil kulcher” are unsurprisingly shocking. I don’t anticipate any public criticisms from Terry May’s lapdogs. In pretty much the same way as Scottish politicians ( who normally struggle to keep their trap shut) evidently lost their tongues after Monkey-man and the convicted sex offender targetted Sinky and Broony during the 5-1 hammering.

I also see that the blog , Celtic Fanzone, note the inexplicable silence from wee Budge since the Supreme Court judgement. They speculate that might be due to her loyalty to Sir Davie. Budgie and Murray were 2 of 12 business dinner guests at Bute House in March at the invitation of Sturgeon.

I’ll be surprised if Sturgeon, Budge or Salmond ever have the Guys n’ Dolls to openly criticise the Mint but they way remains open once they fully digest the detail and implications of last weeks Supreme Court ruling.

Finally Celtic fans attending on Friday will be goaded and provoked as never before. However difficult please maintain dignity and don’t rise to the inevitable bait . Meanwhile to the players …….stick five in the net !!

  16. Happy Birthday BMCUW… Hope your having a Grand Day…

    BLHADE @ 7:09 PM,

You know, when you consider that Club 1872 own 10% share in Sevco and aspire to be majority owners of a Scottish Institution, not to mention the Director is Club Secretary, that Statement is truly appalling.

Who has to state in official statement they would use “Every Legal Means”…

Why would anyone assume you are going to use anything other…

“Every Means” would suffice any upstanding organisation, or was it a Freudian Slip?

    Hail Hail

  17. Is it just me or does anybody else think that stripping them of their tainted titles would not be sufficient in terms of ‘punishment’?

For example if somebody nicked your car would an appropriate form of punishment be for them just to give it back? I don’t think so. Then, to add insult to injury, this car thief won’t even give it back as he says he nicked it fairly and squarely and so should be allowed to keep it, and even brags about having it.

Now, to make matters worse, almost every dodgy car salesman in town backs him up and is advising you to move on and just forget about it. Maybe because that’s where he takes the car to get it serviced…

  22. BLHADE @ 7:28 PM,

Yes I think by highlighting the SPL Commision aspect and Sporting Advantage aspect Celtic made some key points without upsetting the Lawyers.

Which is another point re: the Club 1872 Statement. Remember this underhand insinuation.

“We are also aware that historically the SPFL lawyer, Rod McKenzie has taken an extremely hostile attitude towards Rangers Football Club which we do not believe is founded in his legal opinions.”

If you look at Mr McKenzie’s contributions baring in mind he was the SPL’s Prosecution Counsel.

Evidence was given by Alexander Bryson, Head of Registrations at the SFA, who described the registration process. During the course of his evidence he explained that, once a player had been registered with the SFA, he remained registered unless and until his registration was revoked.

Accordingly, even if there had been a breach of the SFA registration procedures, such as a breach of SFA Article 12.3, the registration of a player was not treated as being invalid from the outset, and stood unless and until it was revoked. Mr McKenzie explained to us thatSPL Rule D1.13 had hitherto been understood to mean that if, at the time of registration, a document was not lodged as required, the consequence was that a condition of registration was broken and the player automatically became ineligible to play in terms of SPL Rule D1.11. He accepted however that there was scope for a different construction of the rule, to the effect that, as the lodging of the document in question was a condition of registration, the registration of the player would be liable to revocation, with the consequence that the player would thereafter become ineligible to play. He accepted that no provision of the Rules enabled the Board of the SPL retrospectively to terminate the registration of the player. It became apparent from his submissions that Mr McKenzie was not pressing for a finding that Issue…

If you think laying down on that ones bad…

…The SPL presented no argument to challenge the decision of the majority of the Tax Tribunal and Mr McKenzie stated expressly that for all purposes of this Commission’s Inquiry and Determination the SPL accepted that decision as it stood, without regard to any possible appeal by HMRC.

Maybe if he goes to Sheep he will get fouls for it. Not at Celtic.

Now, more than any other time, I feel confident that common justice will be accomplished. Achieved.

The information is out there thanks to RTC and their ilk. Cool heads and logic need to be employed for it to go the distance required. let others nail their respective flags and be seen as the peepil they are.

I also believe the Celtic are in control. Let us self-guard against becoming the new peepil, though. That would be ugly. the more we dehumanise, the less human we become.
