On Saturday morning I opined that Hearts were a busted flush. They’d shipped 10 goals in their previous four games, failing to win any (against Hamilton, St Johnstone, Inverness and Kilmarnock). They were certainly not a team I expected to see sitting second to us this morning.
All of a sudden there’s talk of the manager leaving and players look like they are fighting to impress.
You know how this is going to turn out? Hearts, who are chasing second in the league, are after Newcastle’s assistant. Newcastle’s owner isn’t likely to be hard to deal with. If Ian Cathro gets the job, you can expect to see Newcastle’s player surplus heading north in January. And unlike the five who left Newcastle for Glasgow two years ago, Cathro will know and select each one.
Which is good, as it might give us some competition in the second half of the season. As for those gambling the family aluminium that qualification for the Europa League next season will bring in a necessary £7m?
They may eventually conclude that having one of Europe’s richest men inside the tent is a whole lot better than making an enemy of him. Just a thought.

Correct me if I’m wrong but did you not – repeatedly – post a personal spread sheet on here outlining why – commercially – we needed the Auld Firm rivalry?
I apologise if I am mistaken.

I’ve highlighted DETRIMENT OF THE INTEGRITY as the reason why Art 12 exists and you have to wonder why Scottish football does not have an equivalent. It would have stopped the 5 Way getting off the ground on the terms it did, terms that still poison the game.
*The 5 way agreement lies in the fact that that most clubs are run by businessmen. The financial side of not only travelling through the outer regions of Europe but also hosting games against teams whose names hauf of Scotland have a problem pronouncing during the late summer months should be contemplated.
In the past few years other than us no Scottish club has progressed too far and some have been absolutely embarrassed. I believe this venture when taking in travelling expenses etc against clubs from “wee” countries actually costs them money, think St Johnstone actually said that.
So taking intae consideration that the opportunity of at least 2 home games against sevco might have swayed their decision tae let sleeping dogs lie. A bird in the hand etc.
From the online Record today. (Seriously).
‘Tynecastle is arguably the best stadium in Scottish football, and it would compete favourably with any arena in Britian’.
And……
‘MK Dons have always been the pantomime baddies of the game down south after they became the phoenix club of Wimbledon FC in 2003, and re-branded following their move up the M1 in 2004.’
(Interesting, in that someone at the DR knows what a phoenix club is).
I know, I am easily entertained……:)

Derek McInnes would be insane to leave TheSheep to go to Ibrox, it would be the ultimate rat jumping on to a sinking ship move. I don’t think he’s that much of a hun that he would jump on board the SS Strapped in all departments just to satisfy a boyhood dream
*behave yourself, as I’ve posted before, I was listening tae SS when he labelled himself derek kai johansen mcinnes and referred tae naesurname as the gaffer, this BTW when he was managing St Johnstone.
VFR800 IS NOW A MONSTER 821:
I would not do it because it would be unwisely subjective but if you were to threaten me with torture then I would tell you that both the posters you mention are – without doubt – two of the most concerned and committed Celtic supporters that it has ever been my pleasure to know.
They don’t waste their breath, or yours, giving you their preferred Celtic line ups or marks on their favourite Celtic snack, they give you thought provoking opinion and insight. It used to be common place on here.

Does anyone have any info on who provided the £2.9m emergency loan to Sevco in October?
***
I confess …. it was me.
I figured, I would lend them the money, they wouldn’t repay it, and then I’d close them down.
And I borrowed the money against what I was sure were the 2 million quid that I was going to win on LMS ….
recently realized that I seem to have misread the amount in Jobo’s first email about how much was at stake in LMS …
oops!
KITALBA
Hibs and Dundee Utd both up, the 2 plastic pitches down (I’d miss Hamilton but not Killie) shouldn’t be allowed in a top division, I don’t care what they say about how improved they are from the early versions, so are microwave chips but they’re still shite.
Kitalba,
So it is a waste of breath, on a Celtic supporters` site, to offer a preferred Celtic line up, is it?

not if you think so but for me, I’ll opine after the event. If at all because Celtic employ grown ups to do that particular job. Not meaning to offend but that is how I see it.

I agree, perhaps more than you might think, that ` Celtic employ grown ups to do that particular job. `. Whenever I post a preferred team selection, it is usually when the C in CQN seems to have been forgotten and my team selections are an attempt to get us back into Celtic mode.
No offence taken, ( like J B Priestley`s Inspector, I never take offence).

no offence was intended mate and I’m glad none was taken. It is just not for me. The ‘member’ link is relative, how many times can you tolerate nostalgia before your ears won’t swallow anymore and you find yourself certifying your beloved brother… 100,000? 200,000? Life is huge in choice but finite by time.
Today we laid My Uncle Peter to rest. He finally succumbed to motor nuerone disease. Him and my uncle shug took me to my first game at Celtic Park, during the sack the board days. We won 2-1 against Aberdeen in front of a half full stadium. Gerry Creaney scored with a close range header. I was sitting on one of the barriers to be able to see the pitch. When Creaney scored I got so excited my legs to involuntarily spasmed and a kicked an old boy in the back. I still feel bad about it.
But in spite of what I now understand was a bleak period in Celtics history, I caught the bug that day.
Thanks for the memories Peter! Rest in peace.

May your uncle Peter rest in peace. I’ll say a wee prayer for him.
