Miku, Lassad and Ambrose need to stretch legs

842

If you are going to Celtic Park tomorrow you will see a lot of photos like the one above.  Outside the ground 200 bucketeers will be collecting to raise money to send Oscar Knox for treatment for neauroblastoma.

Be prepared.  Bring spare cash with you, have it ready and do your bit for Oscar.

For the second week in a row we take on the team at the bottom of the table; see how that worked out last week.  After an awful August which saw Dundee’s return to the SPL marked with one point and no goals scored from four games, they picked up three points at Tynecastle before losing a lead late in the game against Motherwell last weekend.  Manager Barry Smith will have watched how St Johnstone went about their business six days ago and will believe his team can nick something at Celtic Park.

Neil Lennon (and some of us) will welcome the drop in intensity from Wednesday’s Champions League tie as Celtic are likely to give game time to those who joined the club three weeks ago.  Miku, Lassad and Ambrose all need to stretch their legs.

Big shout again for the guys raising money for Celtic Youth Development through TicPick.  It’s £1 to enter and you win £1000 for predicting 10 results.  I’ve gone for Celtic to beat Dundee, West Ham to beat Sunderland, Aberdeen and Motherwell to draw, Man City to beat Arsenal, St Mirren to beat Killie, Dundee United to beat Hearts, Man Utd to beat Liverpool, Hibs to beat Inverness, Chelsea to beat Stoke and Spurs to beat QPR.

  1. O.G.Rafferty – Yup.

They’ve never really “done” humour – “Nakamura Ate My Dog” pretty much sums them up – but since their generation of domination in the 90’s started crumbling, and particularly since the football authorities took some half-hearted steps to get rid of their sectarian songbook, they’ve been even less inclined to laugh than usual.

Which is ironical, because I can’t stop laughing at them. (thumbsup)

  2. OK bhoys – a heads up for England based Tims.

After reading about the bike ride from Celtic Park to Belfast in aid of wee Oscar which is being organised by some very goods CQN’rs I have decided to do the same from Leeds.

Starting from Leeds on Friday March 15th 2013 and (hopefully) ending up in Liverpool on Sat 16th – just in time for the overnight ferry to Belfast.

Arrival in Belfast will be 6.30am on St Patrick’s day where we should meet up with the lads from Glasgow and hopefully Oscar and his folks to say hello. It should be party time.

The bike ride will be along the Leeds-Liverpool canal and is 125 miles long approx.

There will be one overnight at a point approx halfway along the route.

I will be flying back to Leeds on Monday 18th and will arrange for the bikes to be transported back to Leeds the following week unless it’s goosed and I’ll ditch it.

If there are any of you who fancy joining in for a great cause and a good craic then let me know. There will be very little road cycling for those who, like me, would be a bit nervy of that. I’m crap on a bike and never cycle so useless eejits are more than welcome.

There are already a couple of us confirmed but the more the merrier.

Paul67 has my email address and I would be grateful if he would pass it on to interested parties.

For those who have wanted a challenge like this for years, now’s the time. All aboard.

  3. Who wants to see some skinny thirtysomething’s Royal Doulton?

I’ll tell you who: women. (thumbsup)

  4. So back to basics tomorrow, would be nice to get in the goal scoring groove again.

    I would go with

    FF

    Matthews Wilson Ambrose Izzy

    Brown VW Mulgrini Paddy

    Commons

    Hooper/ Miku

I do not know if Hooper will be fit or even broonie , but James Forrest is way off the pace right now. Mulgrini , would do a job at dentre back at home in the SPL but that is it for me. He lacks pace and concentration to be a top defender, a lovely footballer is he , but defending is not strong in him as Yoda might say.

I would like to see Lass and get a look at him as well on home territory, he looked lost last week.

  5. Re the hullabaloo with the banner, Wonder what will happen when World War Z is released and they find out that Bobby Petta is in it

  6. Just catching up on today’s comments.

Can I suggest that the next time a donkey wanders onto the blog mid-morning braying loudly that we resist the urge to bray back.

That way we may not have to wait so long to listen to the sound of his little hooves disappear into the distance as he heads off oot again.

    Or should that be hoove’s?

  7. Nimmo Smith just served them their dinners then.

“On 14 June 2012, when the business and assets of Oldco were purchased and transferred to Newco, Rangers FC ceased to be a Club”.

  8. Kilgore Trout

Do you think Mr Negativity really does go ‘off out’ or does he drop his grenades and then lurk to lap up the stir he causes?

  9. re Adidas and the huns. I would be very surprised if the huns appear in adidas kit, because quite simply it is unlikely that adidas will sponsor them. Aberdeen and Hearts play in adidas kit just now, but they do not have a ‘kit deal’ with adidas the company – rather a deal with a supplier, who give them ‘off the peg’ generic adidas gear. Aberdeen were the same when they had Nike a couple of seasons ago. Nike only has a few ‘partner clubs’ globally, including Barca, Inter, Arsenal, ManUre, and Celtic Glasgow (to give us our Champions League name…) Plenty other clubs play in Nike kit, but if you go into the Nike store in berlin, or Amsterdam etc, you will normally only find a select handful of football kits – those of the partner clubs.

The Louden tavern could play in adidas tops – doesn’t mean they have an adidas kit deal. The huns could also buy (and play in ) adidas gear – and they could probably buy a whole ton of it at a very reduced rate. It still doesn’t mean they have an adidas kit deal.

For that reason, i would not be surprised if they went with a smaller manufacturer (umbro, diadora etc) as they will at least be paid by those compannies to sport their logo.

  10. So the cowboys of Govan are trying to get a tie up with the cowboys of Dallas. lol!

£500 minimum to own a part of Sevco.

  11. LuxCelt – For that reason, i would not be surprised if they went with a smaller manufacturer (umbro, diadora etc) as they will at least be paid by those compannies to sport their logo.

    Hi-Tec it is then. (thumbsup)

  12. further to my post on the huns and adidas – the only source i can find for this ‘multi million pound deal’ is the daily record, and i refuse to click the link, so as it is a ‘Record Exclusive’ it is unlikely to be (even close to) factually correct.

  13. Afternoon all. Still glorious here in north Ayrshire. Makes for a very pleasant change.

I felt during the game on Wednesday (and even more so now) that we will badly miss Ki during the Champions League. I know his transfer fee was very welcome but he would really come into his own in the CL. We need to learn (and quickly) how to use possession well. It comes naturally to Ki. He might even give us the confidence to play pass and move.

indeed i hope so. But Mitre and Gola are both likely to be in the running too. I notice they were in their tennents sponsored jerseys this week when they were beaten by a team sponsored by:

    Doonhamers Travel Club.

Good on you for taking up the mantle from Leeds,I very much doubt I will be joining you but there are quite a few of us on the route you are taking,we can meet you and the Bhoys at Bingley Five Rise Locks with sponsor money and oxygen masks.

What on earth is going on in Perth?

Following on from yesterday’s case of causing fear and alarm with a black pudding, this from the BBC:

“A man has appeared before Perth Sheriff court accused of causing fear and alarm by spraying tomato sauce.”

This food violence is getting out of hand. Whatever next for Perth? Razor Clam Gangs roaming the streets? Assault with intent to rub and crumb? Conspiracy to pervert the course of hares? Malicious flour raising?

Thank heavens the custard pie has been outlawed.

  18. A ‘multi-million’ kit sponsorship deal with Adidas?

About as believable as the existence of zombies.

    HH!!

  19. The pdf above with Nimmo Smith’s reasons for deciding preliminary issues is a long and detailed one but I like his Oldco Newco language and I might be warming to him if he keeps this up.

  20. Rieperman,

Thanks for the Thai Tims link this morning,

I wish someone would forward it to RTE, asking them to include it in their “Up for the Game” special.

Tully57 and all you guys who will be in Dublin on Sunday, inside Croke Park or not, have a great day.

The team won’t let us down.

My two boys will be there, but I won’t. Telly for me.

I took my boys in ’92, so they have never seen Donegal lose an All Ireland Final!

For my penance, after my goalkeeper aberration this morning, I had to spend the day shopping in LK.

Rory Gallagher, of Winning Matches fame, did an hour long spot in the Courtyard Shopping Centre and had the audience eating out of his hand.

I hope he washed them first!!

Unfortunately, the eponymous Jimmy was unable to get a visa, so he had to stay with his day job, selling watches in Lanzarote.

    See you soon, Sam.

  21. Philvis (for it is he) – Sevco should be sponsored by Kickers.

    Lennon n Mc….Mjallby.

Many thanks mate. Will keep posting details every now and again so keep and eye out for it.

Make sure you bring beer to the locks!
