Milne’s prompt for Aberdeen fans

522

A few points about Stewart Milne’s comments this week. Immediately after the Court of Session overturned the earlier rulings on Rangers EBTs, putting the issue of sporting advantage in the spotlight, I noted that it would be the clubs who would decide if this matter would be looked at again, and that if Celtic were unable to gain support from a number of clubs, the issue was dead in the water.

The conversation has been parked until after BDO hear about their application to appeal to the Supreme Court but the issue remains active. Celtic are not alone on this matter, but as you hear from Milne, everyone is not on the same page.

I was a bit surprised Milne spoke openly on the issue but this needed to come out. Just as the SPFL’s decision to act or not is in the hands of the clubs, Aberdeen’s stance on the matter is ultimately in the hands of their supporters. If they care enough about the issue, they must express this view to Milne as clearly as they did in 2012, when they changed his plans on an earlier matter.

Milne’s comments about Scottish football’s position relative to the game in England were among the most futile ever uttered. He is one of the few people in a position to work for change. Aberdeen have more going for them than Swansea – a smaller club based outside England who earn over £100m from Premier League TV rights each season.

No wonder we’re outside the party when one of the men in charge has only just recognised a party exists.

Many thanks to all who donated to our Mary’s Meals appeal yesterday. The generosity of one or two of you blew me away. If you entered the Magners’ ticket competition, check your email this afternoon, as the winner will be notified shortly.

There’s still time to order a book or DVD from CQN Bookstore. Take a look at what’s on offer.

Awe Naw – I think you’re getting your posters mixed up ! The eejits as you called them are taking there self away from here because the gestapo types are coming in daily, dropping their perceptions as gospel then leaving. Auldhied refuted everything Neg2 said and has done so on many occasions, point by point. I don’t see him responding, the next time he drops in it’s with the same rhetoric and out again. No discussion.

    Quonno?

You might be happy about paying a fine from your ST money that could be spent on better players or services, but I’m not.

Apart from the safety aspect, those responsible show total disregard for their fellow fans and the club whom they put themselves above at no cost to themselves. Perhaps footing the bill will concentrate minds.

And lets not bring in whataboutery in this case that’s the language of the dark side.

Hopefully the threat will be enough to encourage the folks responsible to act responsibly.

West End Res 12 should have been the clubs job.

No disagreement from me there and on some of the other points the Club should be standing up and being counted, I’m not a happy clapper where the board are concerned but I don’t blame them for every decision made in Scottish football as some on here do…

    Awe_Naw @11.05 am

No one has had the guts to officially proclaim them the same club – not the SFA, not the SPFL and, unless I missed it, Celtic have not said so either.

“Really !!! after the kids got booted out this season if Sevco came back up – without consultation or fore warning

Such a decision (i.e to marginalise our attending children and I suppose alienate their parents/guardians) is not made lightly. It also reinforces the concept of A RETURN to Old Firm pricing. I.e a better product, a chance to make more instantaneous money rather than develop a relationship with those children. The return of Sevco and the bigot pound that it generates is considered far more important than our children. Then 6 months later when urged at the AGM to address this issue we are told that it will be reviewed.

I deduce lots from this stance and it is not good with the caveat that if this has been done to let the outside world think that the plc is going along with Old Firm reincarnation but somewhere along the line they will pull a rabbit out the bag. If you believes this then IMHO (honest and humble) then you are hanging on for nothing.”

It is circumstantial evidence that they will be prepared to resume a level of economic cooperation with the Ibrox clumpany when their new team appears in the top division and they will do so because they will believe, probably accurately IMO, that there is a strong appetite in our support to obtain a substantial ticket allocation for our first ever Ibrox fixture against this club. However many of us who are or were entitled to seek an Ibrox ticket pre-2012 who would choose to boycott this fixture will be replaced by 5 times our number willing to step into our shoes.

What the reciprocal ticket bendover will show is a (rare) willingness to look out for the demands of our fans. What it most definitely NOT is proof that our club will treat them as and call them the same club. They MAY, in future, be prepared to go to that length but they have NOT done so thus far.

Auldheid these players we could sign with the fines can I ask who in non league football you have in mind? Cause let’s be honest that’s what you’d get for all the fines in recent seasons.

BTW I have no issue with puris being banned in the stands as the ignighted flares are an obvious danger but for me the smoke ones are a different issues as even the club use them to celebrate lifting the SPFL trophy eye and if there were safety issues re the smoke why do the club use them as they can’t control the direction of the wind.

The board’s ability to make statements about fans in Turkey contrasts with their ability to make comments on the attacks on free speech last week, etcettttttttrrrrraaa. I know we live in an imperfect world/land but jeezo just give an indication that we are not in a club led by “b”ank(i)ers.

My recollection was that a Youth Final at CP was advertised as such but, like the LC semi-final in February, it was advertising a competition organised by another party. Using the name Rangers rather than Rangers IL or Sevco is not the red line for me. That is a bit of frivolous nonsense that we can indulge in to our heart’ content. The club has to be a bit more douce and buttoned-up in the way it describes things.

Not that I agree with the use of flares that can endanger supporters, especially with breathing difficulties.

I find the board only make statements when hit in the pocket and pander to some supporters that are too quick to herald them for doing so.

Whilst as other have said…turn a blind eye to the hypocrisy that has been going on for years by a deid club/new club.
