Mind the Kayal Gap

794

Neil Lennon, his goalkeeper and defenders will not be too concerned at the loss of their first goal in domestic football yesterday since Noah was a boy.  John Rankin’s pot-shot from 20-odd yards clipped the post on its way in but the Dundee United player scored from an area of the field that is usually vigorously monitored by Beram Kayal.

We’re going to miss that guy……

The contempt for Fergus is like the contempt for WGS is like the contempt for calling for an away boycott.

Admit a large fraction of Celtic supporters are really too stupid to be Celtic supporters. They should support

I don’t deny any of that nor do I wish to airbrush those achievements of Fergus out of history. I was only trying to give a little context to why the booing took place.

There was a body of opinion who wrongly got on his back because there are those among us who don’t like to be second and who get frustrated when our leaders don’t do everything in their power and then some to keep us as no.1 just as there was back then. Remember the support had had to endure a decade of Rangers getting bummed up regarding their spending and sections of the Celtic support saw spending big as the only way forward (we all know with hindsight where their money was coming from but to the untrained eye it was a bit more black and white – spend money, spend money – the media told us that was how you win and people believed it).

We had no CQN back then but it might have made interesting reading had there been.

What Fergus accomplished in the face of what we now know regarding their level of cheating (we knew about Farry but not about the financial doping) was nothing short of a minor miracle but to forget the reasons why frustrations came to the boil is wrong. Moreover the booing was even more wrong and in no way am I defending it. I merely wanted to think back to the mood at the time among some supporters. It did happen and for the reasons previously stated. It didn’t happen for no reason and I only tried to put across what I remember people being frustrated by.

I think it is important to remember those reasons. It was still unacceptable and please don’t think I’m trying to justify it, I’m merely trying to remember why it happened.

Anyone, is it definitely a given that Celtic FC will NOT vote for allowing a Rangers NewCo direct entry to the SPL?

Can just imagine the ‘Celtic holding Scottish Football to ransom’ headlines (should Rangers meet their maker).

What is familiar is the juxtaposition between Celtic’s prudency and Rangers foolishness.

Had they played as prudent a game I doubt they would have fared so well and our lack of football success is down as much to their failings as our own. That may not absolve Celtric from all of blame but it does make quite a difference in my book.

I’m not sure what Rangers spent in 98, I see £36M? mentioned but here is a link to what Fergus spent to build the 10iar stoppers. (£10.7M) It also shows an estimate of what that quality would cost now (£39.2M).

    Sobering.

Easy to forget that these were ordinary people living in extraordinary times. The human suffering is often forgotten in amongst the statistics.

Our people could easily have accepted the status quo of second class citizen. In reality it was never an option for this community. Some incredibly brave people were/are not to be denied, against all the odds.

Have The Celtic bored ever asked the SFA or the SPL on the “rumours” of Ranger’s tax debacle

and the serious impact implications thereof? And if not? why not?

One or two CQNers who have had personal conversations say Celtic are not in favour.

    Logically why should they be?

They have spent the last four years or so pilloried for their financial prudence and yet will vote to allow a club who took full advantage of it and gave the foundation for that criticism, to carry on as if it had done nothing wrong?

Does that sound logical to you?
