Mind the Kayal Gap

794

Neil Lennon, his goalkeeper and defenders will not be too concerned at the loss of their first goal in domestic football yesterday since Noah was a boy.  John Rankin’s pot-shot from 20-odd yards clipped the post on its way in but the Dundee United player scored from an area of the field that is usually vigorously monitored by Beram Kayal.

We’re going to miss that guy……

‘Good Evening Bhoys/Ghirls, whilst enjoing my usual pre match drinks in the Investor Lounge, our new chairman Mr Bankier appeared in and was talking to various people, he then came to our table and i asked him if the board would vote for R****** Newco to be given an SPL position if they lose the Tax case to which he replied DEFINETLY NOT, so there you have it straight from the Chairmans mouth’

If, as Paul 67 has suggested, the matter of a newco huns admission to the SPL is for the board of the SPL it doesn’t matter a tinker’s fart what the Celtic Board decide.

Eric Riley would have to vote for what’s in the best interests of the SPL, not Celtic.

Ian Bankier is a corporate lawyer and knows that perfectly well, even if his questioner(s) didn’t.

Did he say how the SPL would deal with the matter, would it be decided by the board, or by the members?

Or did no one think to ask the question?

Did he say what steps, if any, Celtic would take if the SPL decided to allow a newco huns straight into the SPL?

Or did no one think to ask the question?

Never mind, I’m sure it was all very convivial.

If any of them had even the most remote interest in the game, we would not be facing the calamity in front of us.

    Shame on them all.

Perhaps one of the most profound comments on the entire sordid state of affairs made to date!!!!!!!

  3. As I was suggesting earlier that I feel we need the likes of Stan Petrov giving guidance and support to our young team, I would be delighted if Clarence Seedorf were to give us his services for the remainder of the season. He would definitely fit the bill for me.

Ernie – you make very good points there. Scottish football has slapped us in the face many times and this could be the biggest yet.

The club should engage with the various supporter groups now and formulate a plan of action prior to the Huns going bust, not just wait and react after the SPL board do the unthinkable….which they will.

BTW, there was no need for your final comment. I can only assume that your Johnny Giles are playing up!

And trumpets ‘there you have it straight from the Chairmans mouth.’

That sort of naive gullibility is what you’d expect from the huns. A little bit of flattery, a few words of comfort, and they swallow the lot, hook, line and sinker.

It’s part of the reason they’re in the mess they’re in.

  6. Scott Brown: Can’t tackle; can’t/won’t? jump for an aerial challenge; poor passer; can’t shoot; no guile. Couldn’t fill the Gap in Beram’s tooth never mind his role in midfield. At yesterday’s goal, he tracks the runner already about to be picked up and doesn’t have the awareness to cover the awning gap beside him being left for the scorer.

  7. Tricoloured Ribbon,

If you think, as I do (and so too quite a few other CQNers) that our young team need someone like Petrov or Seedorf, would you have any suggestions of whom we might be able to attract? Personally, I think we have plenty of potential but the confidence and self-belief still have a fair ways to go.

  8. Keeping in mind the Vanessa appeal,I read with disgust that Tony Blair paid just £315,000 tax on one of his

company,s earnings of more than £12 million last year !

With the Orcs, the Blairs and many other tax dodgers, this country is morally bankrupt while funds are required

to send a young girl to America to have treatment the NHS cant afford.

    Disgustedcsc.

Thought we played superbly first half and ok second.

Was more disappointed with the reaction of the fans than losing the DU goal, which was well struck.

There were fans around me going nuts because we weren’t pushing on more with just a few mins on the clock/ I mean we were winning at that point, no need for madness like that.

Anyway, I enjoyed the game and thought the scoreline flattered DU a little. Not complaining about that either as their confidence can be our friend. :)

    Yes.

Why Rangers failed and Celtic didn’t.

    Excellent link, my friend.

There are many Celtic supporters who should be ashamed of themselves for their treatment of Fergus.

What he achieved at Celtic was in spite of those people, not because of them.

On my first visit to CP, after an absence of fifteen years, there were people handing out envelopes, which contained details of Fergus’ plans for Celtic; should he gain control.

Included in the package was a questionnaire, which he asked to be returned to him.

    Everything was spelt out.

Unfortunately, his takeover bid failed at that time, but he still responded to every reply, thanking us for our participation and wishing us well for Christmas.

That attention to detail and courtesy was enough to convince me that this was the man. Add in his Croy credentials, and you have a deal.

In case there was ever any doubt about his love for the club, he made a telling and, at this time, significant statement.

After he assumed control, he said it would have been easier and less costly, if he allowed Celtic to go into Administration.

However, he said that he would never allow the club to be harmed or risked in that fashion.

Game, Set and Match to the Bunnet.

  12. I wonder if, when we went on our record clean sheet run in 1914, there were as many Celtic fans on scapegoating and criticising individual players, as there are when we have won our last 11 games.

There seems to be an outbreak of Anhedonia in our support.

Yip an ok day apart from the late winner for Rangers at Perth thanks….

A 64-0 win for the boy away at Edinburgh Academy was a good start…….

Good Celtic win, although the crowd got nervous. The Patriots smashed the Broncos though in the NFL, but no real surprise.

Hope all is good with you and your girls are all doing well.

However, bearing in mind whats happened in the last three years my worries remain.

We should have made a statement of intent to bury this shower into the deck.As per, so far we are sitting on our hands.

Ok what happens if newco are accepted straight back into the SPL. Celtic state their intention to resign and are told,”Well on you go then!”

Celtic then resign with the intention of a.n.other league in England or elsewhere in Europe and are told, “Naw!”

Says a lot for the man. Of course, there’s more to it than that, like the sale of assets, those we still hold to this day and those amongst the playing staff with a saleable value (McStay, Collins?)

Others, however, would appear to view Administration as part of the best case business model for improvement. In fact, it would appear to be the only feasible model elsewhere at the moment, but this could change somewhat quickly over the next couple of months.

FWIW my only issue with Fergus was that he didn’t have Lennoxtown up and running before he left, which means we’re still waiting for its benefits to accrue.

If you haven’t, why sarcastically crriticise others for not having asked them….?

Some of feel the Board are handling this situation well (and our finaces, through this recession)…..others don’t…..but you seem to be the only one who’s comments stink of general bitterness against the Board…

You are in danger of transgressing ‘prat’ mode, into ‘fud’ mode, I’m afraid…

We can only deal with the SPL as and when any situation develops which warrants it, as can the Board / SFA / EUFA / FIFA….the basic Laws etc of the game will have to apply…..I would imagine also that, if rankers are afforded any ‘favouritism’, other clubs who have been treated differently in an administration situation would have something to take the ‘beaks’ to court on……

Meanwhile, get off you high horse, and treat others with respect……

TBB summed it up superbly in an earlier post. The don’t care about football or even history – unless it’s for the purposes of pathetic oneupmanship.

Fergus understood that our history and honour must be preserved as it meant much much more to us.

Elsewhere dignity, honour and history are low on the agenda, despite their rhetoric.

Well the SPL have just made a mockery of it. We weren’t going to be a party to it so we resigned from the league.

Now help us into another league.

The point is though it wouldn’t happen. If Celtic make it known from the start that they will resign if the other clubs alowe the newco huns straight into the SPL, it won’t happen.

Just before I watch Sherlock, was going through the blog to see suggestions of Stan or Clarence Seedorf coming to Paradise. As much as I would dearly love that to happen, it ain’t. Stan is playing every game as captain for Villa so he will not be allowed to leave by McCleish, even if he wanted to. Seedorf, as much as he says he likes Celtic, will never come.

However, the principle of getting someone in, even for 6 months, to a) fill the role left by Kayal and b) to add experience for the title run in that won’t be needed as much next year if we do win the league as the players would have gone the course of the season and won the league.

Unfortunately, I cannot think of too many people that could match the criteria set above, so I ask, who do we bring in?

Obviously a striker is required, I would love that Salihi form Rapid, whilst another CB wouldn’t go a miss (Ivis ? spelling).

So who is the mystery midfield maestro that we require?
