Missing defenders when the squad is light

229

The 25th of May is our sixth cup final between now and then.  Sunday’s visit to Dundee could scarcely feel more important.  On-loan Liverpool left back Owen Beck has received much of the attention in the Dundee defence this season, but central defender Joe Shaughnessy has been a bigger part of their success story.

Beck has been injured since last month while Shaughnessy is set to miss his first start in a league game of the season against Celtic on Sunday.  He was hooked 10 minutes into Dundee’s last game, although the defence were still strong enough to stop Newco scoring.

Missing two from four first choice defenders is a challenge for a team with the resources of Celtic.  It will be a very unwelcome scenario for Dundee manager, Tony Docherty, as he makes a push for European football next season.  We have to expose their weaknesses.

    From last thread

I hope they are not considering Charlie Mulgrew for any coaching role at Celtic.

Was he not one of the group of players who undermined Ronny when he was manager and who were frozen out of the first team picture when BR took over as a result?

Just a wee piece. Leslie was on the receiving end of a four goal defeat by Celtic in the SC semi finals. In goals for the hoops Frank Haffey. LL was meant to play fof Scotland v England, was unable because of injury,FH deputised….. 9-3 for England.

Had a wee wonder into DR for a laugh, they never fail….

“While talk of a reunion (Gerrard) with Tavernier have swirled in Saudi over the last few months, the rumour mill appears to have shifted into overdrive. Multiple outlets are now reporting that an offer is being “prepared” with a view to snapping up the Rangers Hall of Famer this summer.” 😅🤣😂

*or has since been revealed the diamonds were in negotiations with the Hammers for his transfer at the time so he was pulled out of the national squad, his deputy was seven past niven who also conveniently pulled out so big Frank was left to be crucified between 2 thieves.

One Saturday after noon on the tele I heard him utter these immortal words “and here is the result the whole of Scotland has been waiting for “hearts 4 Celtic 1” unfortunately for the hopes of the loyal and true we had clinched the League 3 weeks earlier at Methil.

Incidentally he was only capped twice for the national side, a token hun

If a keeper loses 9 goals it says more about the defending than the goalkeeping . Yet big Frank got hammered for it .

Good afternoon all from the Victoria Bar. Weather seems to be fair in Dundee on Sunday. According to the BBC that is which probably means there shall be a downpour of biblical standards. 🙄

  8. Just entering the run in and already the media starting on the transfer guff. When they start quoting Miovski at 8 million, and talking about ,B leaguers, you know its gonna be a long, long summer. My picks, easy.

Love your wish list but I think return of Lawal is the only bit that’s likely .

    We can but dream .

  11. BRRB,

H,mm.BBC saying it is pissing down T F S,and just heavy on Sunday.

True . I just think Keleher , Tierney and Smodicz will end up at bottom half EPL clubs on wages that would make Peter Lawwell’s eyes water .

BTW , BRRB is not Michael Fish , he’s his Polish cousin Drynxlyka .-))

  15. Re Sunday, there is rain forecast every day in Dundee until Sunday but is likely to be light showers so, hopefully, the pitch can be protected and in good condition.

We don’t want to have to issue a statement!

  16. Who kidnapped 418 and replaced him with the doppelganger above?

That was a sensible and constructive comment…….

    Chapeau

  17. KT is at £10 mullions on transfer market

Mainly due to injuries and lack of starts

    Maybe we could afford him…..

  18. I reckon at 10 mullion, a combination of Greg Taylor and KT would be good

He would take the cut in wages

Rodgers would love to have him etc etc

I would love to see the board make that happen
