It took a late goal from Anthony Stokes to secure Celtic’s win at Tannadice in August. That led to a five match unbeaten run for Dundee United, which ended two weeks ago at Pittodrie before Inverness knocked 10-man United out of the League Cup on Tuesday with a 120th minute goal.
Jackie McNamara has stabilised his team and they are likely to finish in the top three this season, but the defeat on Tuesday, which led to a storm of controversy over the behaviour of Nadir Ciftci, will be a major challenge ahead of United’s trip to Celtic Park. The champions should win comfortably.
There was little glibness evident in The Herald’s sombre interview with Dave King, published this morning. Despite apparently getting along famously with antagonists on either of Rangers International shareholding, he was unable to reach a deal, perhaps because he didn’t speak to the Organ Grinder behind the club playing in Rangers colours.
Indeed, neither King, nor anyone else trying to oust, or do a deal with, the current board, knows the ultimate beneficiary behind Blue Pitch Holdings et al. Is it you? It’s not me, but I suppose that’s what everyone is saying right now.
That question, is the only show in town.
King wrapped up his comments to The Herald by saying “Over the last two years we have all witnessed the destructive value when individuals, who should be putting the club first, advance personal agendas through the media in an attempt to influence the most important stakeholder in Rangers Football Club – the fans”.
Self-awareness is a rare thing.
Mr King is 100% correct on the destructive influence those who have divided his new favourite club have had. Without the modestly self-named Blue Knights causing ultimately unproductive havoc, Charles Green’s consortium would surely not have over-paid and under-charged, leading to the situation King believes could lead to administration. The question now for those on the outside is, do they have the votes, or are they just peeing on the Broxy Bear Burgers?

See the Dundee Utd lad in big trouble for manhandling a linesman.
Pity it was not Calum Murray who was there. He would have assured Mr Lunny and co that at no time did he feel threatened!
Hope wee Jackie remembers that one when the player appears before the beaks.
I’m sure once again we’ll get more evidence of the Rangers rule ( no punishment) and the other 41-club rule where the book can be thrown!

Philbhoy – Bring it on!!!!
You are talking about a country that has a high number of poverty and the punters are more likely to buy a copy jersey than an official one. I worked in India for a period of time and the majority of people are coming round to football but can’t afford to buy an official cricket jersey which is their number 1 passion. You can buy a copy football jersey for a fiver and they are just as good as the real thing. The same will happen in China. I would imagine Celtic are looking for Chinese companies to provide sponsorship of some kind probably pitchside. I would invisage a few players coming our way to train with the first team too. No problem with that to be honest. Maybe we can set up a club there or an affiliate club although I am not sure what we have got from the affiliate club in Mexico yet that Crosas joined.

I think the strangest thing of the lot is that Lawwell is going with Alex Salmond. Salmond has really written off the Sevco vote with that arrangement!

Mowbray has been the rumour all week although Kenny Sheils has been at a few games including Wednesday’s match.
I really feel for the Hibs fans. They are no Celtic lovers believe me. Some have a soft spot for Celtic usually the RC Hibs fans in Edinburgh. Some do not and treat us like any other club and the die hard Hibees detest us with a passion because we stole their team over 100 years ago.
Hibernian have many similarities to Celtic in their rivalry to Hearts though. They try to play good football. They might be mince at it but they do try to play that way. They have a top training facility and a top class stadium for the size of the club. They have manageable debt and don’t put the clubs existence at risk to chase trophies.
The Hibs support hate their CEO Petrie because he is always looking after the bank balance and looks for the result of the balance sheet before the team. Sound familiar?
On the pitch their results are up and down. They are seriously lacking a decent striker and Griffiths was more important to Hibs than Hooper ever was to Celtic. He was a huge loss. They played like Celtic did against the deid team in the 90’s for the first 20 mins on Wednesday and got beat 1-0. It appeared they beat themselves. If I could cherry pick the league table I would always have ourselves top and the other team in green from Edinburgh 2nd but then my mum and wife are supporters of Hibernian. The least I would like to see for Hibs is to beat Hearts. Living and working in Edinburgh myself you really can’t imagine how smug and alike they are with their Glasgow cousins.
The Hibs fans want Mowbray or Shiels. I think they would be better aiming higher than that and going for Neil Warnock. God knows who they will get but one things for sure. They should be beating Hearts!

They’ll go for The Cat In The Hat……………………..
Your grinding my organ man. Here’s to more peeing on the Broxy Bear Burgers.
Thought Celtic’s SB appeal was not wise. Only surprise was it was appealed.

Spot on jimmci, exactly what I thought as soon as I heard about it.
Hope you’re right about Jackie.
It is crucial that MSP’s are contacted ahead of Tuesday’s meeting of the Justice Committee where they will decide to have an early review of the offensive behaviour at football act or not.
@FACKilltheBill
Is your MSP Alison McInnes, Colin Keir, John Finnie, Margaret Mitchel, Roderick Campbell or Sandra White?
Email them immediately if so.
@FACKilltheBill
Not impressed by the contempt in which she holds football supporters ?

@TheCelticTrust
Sandra White, Glasgow Kelvin, has only received 11 emails. She might need more convincing. Come on westenders, call her or drop her a note
@TheCelticTrust
Is your MSP Alison McInnes, Colin Keir, John Finnie, Margaret Mitchel, Roderick Campbell or Sandra White? Give them a call before Tuesday!
@FACKilltheBill
We need to keep the pressure on to make them realize that we will not go away.They have to answer to those they would rather remained silent
Do you have a couple of minutes to do your bit to have this act reviewed ASAP?

Livibhoy-i agree,though Petrie has managed the club well imo .They have a habit of picking managers from left field ,so could be a surprise again.Paul Hartley ?
Our Wall’s value has just shot up – Hart dropped by Man City.
Jimmci, thanks for clearing that up, I thought I was loosing in there!

!!Bada Bing!!
Petrie will forever be remembered by me as the SFAs sleekit go between with Chuckles Green.
!!Bada Bing!!
Petrie is in the same situation as Lawwell. He is controlled by a board that want to keep the club in as strong a financial position as possible.
I think Ian Murray with an experienced number 2 would be a shout to be honest. A Hibs man would get more time than anyone else. If Hartley goes there and fails the ribbing they would get from the Jambo’s would be as bad as ever. The Hearts fans really obssess over Hibs and hate Hibs more than they love Hearts. The 5-1 thing is childish and tiresome.
I have a real dislike of Hearts living through here. I’m no lover of Hibs but would love to see them pump Hearts as much as possible!

leftclicktic-you’re right mate,i wonder if he feels “duped” HH
While alive you and yours had naught but infamy,
you rendered shame and ignominy on the earth.
You house harboured such a craven following,
Since your demise there has been a year of mirth.
Because your family pretend that you’re thriving,
but it’s been a year and a day since you died.
Your death was not sudden, you languished,
on the day that you perished they cried.
But your family could not take the anguish,
so together they came up with a plan.
Like “Weekend at Bernie’s”, they animated your corpse,
they have the I.Q. of the Heidelberg Man.
Instead of honouring their cursed memory of you,
and letting you pass on with some form of grace.
They continue their labours to preserve a status quo,
if we felt concern we might think it a disgrace.
They ain’t fooling no one, their ruse is futile,
we witnessed the death, we were there!
The corpse was sold back to the delusional horde,
no one likes them and they don’t care?
Long may this black farce continue,
the macabre zombie puppet death throes
as it amuses those of us not swimming in denial,
but don’t let the door hit your ass when you do go.
