MJALLBY IN BOSS SWITCH

JOHAN MJALLBY has been appointed the new manager of Swedish side Gefle.

The former Celtic assistant manager, 46, played for the Hoops for six years, winning three league titles, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups and joins the Superetten outfit from Division One outfit Vasteras.

Mjallby spent four years as Neil Lennon’s No.2 before linking up with his former team-mate again at Bolton.

Having narrowly missed out on promotion with Vasteras last season, Mjallby moves to Gefle to replace Poya Asbaghi, who recently quit to take over at IFK Gotheburg.

The former Swedish international utility star has signed a two-year deal.

He said: “I look forward to working with Gefle in the development environment and organisation that the club offers.

“It is a great challenge to continue building on the positive development that the players and the team are in.”
