Momentum ahead of Valencia tie

235

Having come through a tortuous December, Celtic will have the opportunity to regain momentum with six of their next seven games at home.  The only away match in the series a return to McDiarmid Park, where they inflicted a 0-6 defeat on St Johnstone earlier this season.

Sixth placed St Johnstone are the highest-ranking domestic team they face on that run, who Celtic also play at home on 30 January, before facing Valencia at Celtic Park on Valentine’s Day.

Forthcoming games against Airdrie in the Scottish Cup, then St Mirren and Hamilton in the league, will give Brendan Rodgers an opportunity to give Timothy Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo some game time.  We have time to prepare for the big game on Valentine’s.

  1. Is the Stage erected ,for Big Ya Ya,also I see Celtic asking young Hoops fans to come along to Celtic Park and do a tour of the Stadium,on there School Holidays,£7-50p a pop,and that’s your whack,no drinks,no french fries,no Beef Burgers,no Pizzas, one of the many things that’s wrong when supporters and Tourists visit Celtic Park, but big Pete and others need there Bonuses.

  2. Joe Filippis Haircut on

The rumours on incoming transfers are getting wilder and wilder now at the height of his career YA YA TOURE would have been completely unafordable now at 35 I would swerve any deal in the past high profile players at the end of there career has not really worked out for the hoops. Now Wanyama would be different due to his age but financialy I dont see it happenning. The window is rapidly drawing towards its end so Celtic need to get a move on if they wish to sign anyone else.H.H.

  3. Two weeks into the window and we have acquired two loan players one forward one midfielder. We have signed a forward for 2 million pounds and that is it. I wonder if big Ya Ya can play in defence. Starting to feel like groundhog Day all over again.

It hasn`t even reached the half-way stage.

  5. Gene- watched a really good programme with Viv Richards and Ian Botham the other day, looking back at VR career.

  6. Bada and Gene

I feel that Botham , like Beckham, was very good indeed but neither one was as good as the Media portrayed them.

Viv, on the other hand, was superb and was recognised as such.

  7. A pessimist is capable of experiencing a range of emotions including disappointment and elation as well as leading a somewhat normal life. It’s just a different way of thinking and managing expectations.

Both attained national hero status which meant some of their poorer performances were overlooked

  9. just got a text in there – apparently the stage has been dismantled and re-erected inside a BIG marquee next to Slater’s so that when we “unveil” Big Yee-Ha him and his agent Ya-Hoo…….wull emerge in matching outfits.

So the DR says that Andrew Gutman knocks back a MLS side for Celtic. Then says the lad had a trial with the Hun’s and that’s the end of it. No , “lad snubs Hun’s for Celtic headline”, now if it was the other way around………

Becham was a very good player.

His or publicists social media skills elevated him to way above his a actual ability.

I know many people who worked o this and they are talented and all agree he was a genuinely nice guy.

Here in the USA i expected him to be a slight disappointment to football fans as most were not aware of what type of footballer he actually was.

Many thought he would dazzle with his ability to dribble round opponents and show off an array of tricks.Another Messi or Ronaldo so to speak.

The general consensus was he could hit a pass and not much else.

It was an excellent business move for him and Major League soccer as it created a whole new audience for the game and increased his and the wife’s media portfolio in America to add to their brand value.

  16. Viv Richards in his prime was probably the most imperious sportsman I ever saw.

    Black power personified.

Knocking the bowlers out the ground while big Joel, Michael Holding and Malcolm Marshall did much the same to the batsmen!!

DAVID66 ? but I still want to know is yaya better or worse than McKenna.hh,

Kolo Toure is better than McKenna….

  18. “It is a very exciting move for him from what I have seen of his talent he has everything to go and be one of the top attacking players in Europe,”

“It is a good move for him, a good move for Celtic as they are getting such a big talent, and also a good move for PSG because he has a chance to get experience and games and come back to us a more complete player.

“He did have options – but he chose the right one. Celtic are a big club, in their league they attack a lot and score a lot of goals, and also they are still in Europe – so they offer him much.”
