It looks like Hibs will take 7,000 fans to Celtic Park for the Scottish Cup quarterfinal on Sunday, which will be the biggest travelling support to visit in many years. It also equates to around half their average home supporter attendance; there is belief and commitment to the Hibernian cause, with good reason.
Bayern Munich’s progress to the Champions League quarterfinals looks assured after a 3-0 home win over Bayer Leverkusen last night. The German league leaders relied on a last gasp equaliser at home to Celtic last month to reach this stage of the competition.
Four clubs from outside the big five leagues reached the last stage of the competition. Each of them lost at home this midweek. PSV Eindhoven take a 1-7 score to Arsenal on Wednesday. We have our hard luck story in this season’s competition, but the reality is that the resources needed for a genuinely deep dive into the Champions League only exist in the monied leagues.

We don’t need no jose Mourinho….

John Burrowes Irish is a great read of how the irish made Scotland their home.well worth the read.
It was also documented how the irish spread the faith by helping build Chapels, giving a days labour free of charge on a sunday which enabled them to send monies home in trust with the local priests
Many who worked at Mickeys dam(mick being derogatory term for irish) would havedone that at Strathblane(built this way)
There are good talks taking place at Coatbridge irish festival by John Kelly and Joe Bradley on the irish over here, you should check it out

After another Huns impressive away performance we should give some thought to the 16th .
We still need to turn up to win and we will win if we play well. However, if we turn up like ibrox we wont win
its in Brendans hands
That awkward moment when Trump signs a proclamation celebrating Irish-American Heritage Month.
Good result for hun – I didn’t fancy them before a ball was kicked.
They’ll be dancing in the streets of Queens Park tonight.
An Dun
Spot on. Rangers got the benefit of an away draw and a bye by getting top 8. They deserve their luck of the draw. Anderlecht was an easy option for the Turks but still a good win to be fair in previous round.
If only we had beaten Brugge and Zagreb.
That awkward moment when B78 praises the huns again, and continually undermines our Manager, it’s all about the money….
Brugge knocked out last season’s europa winners…
Hopefully Man Utd will pump Real Sociedad and that will be the end of thems Europa dream in the quarter finals …remember Europa league winners go into next seasons champions league so big incentive for Manure 🤔
What can we do to show our US enemy we mean business?
An alliance with the EU and China must be considered.
Just saw the result tonight fornthe darkside. All football supporters like winning games and a win away in europa league is decent. But the europa league is a consolation prize is it any wonder that lot do well in it, given their fast experience in that area 😉
Anything can happen in a two horse race. It did tonight.
Mourinho a man of the past. Very short spell at the top has kept him in decent managerial gigs.
SIONNAIGH re: An alliance with the EU and China
Some might slate you for that, I will not.
China are not the bad guys of the world, they just want to do their thing and be a successful nation. OK, Taiwan aside which is a little complicated.
Lines are being redrawn.
Fener, sit behind Galatasaray who were pumped 6-0 by AZ.The Turkish league is a very poor league.Full of rejects,,cast offs, over the hill ,for example,Kent,.Barasic, event took Boyd for a while.Huns have played 3 decent teams,2 defeats and a draw, against ,a totally depleted Spurs, the worst Man U side in memory, and Lyon who put 4 past them at Ibrox.
Dont be fooled. They are among a lot of teams equally as bad as themselves.

I’m thinking outside the box (playing Yang from the stat kinda thing)
A potential trade alliance between the unthinkable, behind the scenes, might be worthwhile. From a negotiating stand point.

SIONNAIGH re: Yang from the start
Hilarious line there, well played.
A lot of stuff is now on the table. Maybe even things I would have been against in the days of old.
I shall.
My dad used to send me over Private Eye magazines inside wee parcels from my mum over the years. Think I still have them all tucked away somewhere. I subscribed this year as wee Christmas gift to myself.
*I had done nothing to deserve a gift, never mind from me.
Anyway. I took an issue from the wee mailman the other day and he said “This for you buddy?” “Yes, yes it is.” says I.
“Good man” says he and delivers a wink, a smile and a nod of the head.
I think he thought I was getting a scud mag delivered. It comes in a blanked out shipping sheet so that you cannot see what it is and has inch and a half high lettering saying “Private Eye.”
Point of the story?
I’m embarrassed to think my mailman thinks I haven’t heard of the internet.
AIPPLE, your mailman must think you like the ‘scratch ‘n’ sniff cards’!

BURNLEY78 on 6TH MARCH 2025 7:19 PM,
Barry Ferguson jumping about like a poor man’s Simeone but still interesting to see the passion. Celtic Park in 10 days will be fun.
BURNLEY78 on 6TH MARCH 2025 7:34 PM
Team coefficients only matter for qualification for the tournaments now, it is country ones which count. So them winning is not so bad. Although at this rate they will have a very easy Thursday night before playing us on the Sunday.
BURNLEY78 on 6TH MARCH 2025 7:48 PM
Incredible performance and result by our co eff monkeys.
Jose is yesterday’s man.
If they play against us like that then it will be a real challenge for us. As it has been the past 2 games.
THE BLOGGER FORMERLY KNOWN AS GM on 6TH MARCH 2025 8:04 PM
B78 – he was given a dress rehearsal then torn a new one.
A three-peat would not be a good look.
It’s a massive game for him.
=================================
This is spot on, Rangers have proved yet again they are the best Scottish team in Europe.
Rodgers should take a leaf out of Jose’s book and realise that Bazza will bring real passion and fortitude to Rangers.
The League is not close to being over.
If Rangers win at Celtic Park a week on Sunday, it will prove that you have been right all along and that Rodgers like José is a busted flush.
This Rangers team is the real deal and Rodgers got lucky that philip-flop was grossly underachieving with a top side and making him look good.
He will be facing a reality check on the 16th March, when the Orish will be crying into their St Patrick’s Feast Guiness.
Good Morning Fholks – Grand Say To Be A Tim
CELTIC40ME @ 5:41 PM,
““However, so was our UCL draw this season, which was anything but easy.”
It was rated the easiest draw before the competition by the Opta computer. It was the third or fourth easiest by opponents points gained after the completion of the group stage.
As I explalned to you previously we underperformed based on the opposition we faced.
We were due some luck, Brendan was due some luck, hopefully the improvement was saw since Dortmund carries on next season, because we’re very unlikely to be that lucky again.
The play off opposition doesnt look anythink like as intimidating as we’ve been up against before, Celtic internet tells you that we’re due to play one of FC Basel, Qarabag, Slovan Bratislava, Ludogorets Razgrad, or Sturm Graz, but it won’t stop us all having that knot in our stomachs in the Summer.”
Well, you did say all of that, and using links and facts I proved it was otherwise.
The fact that you continue with this line means you are failing to understand basic truths or mendacious.
OPTA had Celtic failing to qualify before the draw was made, after the draw it had Celtic’s chances improving –
Vatican Media Live
https://www.youtube.com/live/M_W3ppj-Umg?si=4dCX-6M7wivlVUNc
Ave Ave
– Our initial 28th placing before the draw was revised to a 57.2% chance of a top 24 finish after the draw, this was based on us getting a predicted 9.7 points total.
Yet, after this clarification, it still means we got 25% more points than OPTA predicted.
So, whichever way you look at it, Celtic did very much better than OPTA predicted.
We were going very well before Dortmund and did well after Dortmund, so, that was a blip, and no matter how many times you try to rub our faces in it, it will always be an outlier.
As PRESTONPANS BHOYS @ 6:12 PM states…
…“I find that bizarre, a group comprised of CL finalist, EL winners and two ConL semi finalists 🙄”
Add to that we drew Germany’s best team in the play-offs and the notion of easy seems ridiculous.
The fact that Bayern got through by the skin of their teeth against us, again suggests we were punching way above our weight.
Try to drag us down all you wish, but this is turning out to be a great season for Celtic both domestically and European wise.
Hail Hail
Apologies for the split comment, premature postulation…

Good morning all.
We concentrate on our goals, a treble yell.
Back in the CL next year, strengthen squad and move forward, get some good quality additions.
HH
Ps hope to see some of you drunken bums later.
D. :)
Sevco ability to get decent performances and results is a strange as it is impressive. Clearly a bang average team on a good day domestically they continually to achieve results in EL.
There are clearly caveats to that – the level of EL is far below CL and that gap is only getting bigger but how does the team that loses 3 in a row at home in the SPL consistently raise levels in EL? The teams they play are rarely critiqued and often lauded for there historical performances, such as Man U, but still winning in Istanbul is never easy and we would do well to consider that we are likely to face the best version of them, not the one that loses at home to Motherwell etc.
Now……my preference is always for a Hun-humpin’ especially in Europe but fair play to the Teddies with THAT result.
The Turks musta been Turkish….but 3 goals is 3 goals………………
At least it keeps Son-Of-Indulged-Ned in the picture…and the mouth-breathers relatively docile.

BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL @ 7:38 AM,
Actually to the land of nod ZZZZzzzzzzz
A while back I fell down the stairs and imparted a TBI on myself*
One effect was I used to wake up during the night and sleep during the day…
…not great
So I’ve done various courses/clinics, one on sleep.
Now, I’m not supposed to look at screens when I wake up in the night – get up and do something that won’t stimulate my Brain
However, I often scoot back on CQN and maybe start a comment that I cut – to paste and finish in the morning.
This morning though, instead of “cutting” the part comment I mistakenly posted it….
Decided to finish it off before going off oot to nod.
Apologies again…
*Tramatic Brain Injury – Explains A Lot Eh!!:))))
Hail Hail
I think we’ve got so used to the farce that is R2ngers that some are surprised when they turn up and perform.
And some actually get worried by it.
Which is a shame, IMHO.
Maybe we’re spoiled.
Freely admit I enjoy a chuckle at their expense.
For those expecting the blue bogeyman to trip over their untied shoelaces everytime they cross the white line?
Prepare to be disappointed now and in the future.
The data disagrees.
Celtic and R2ngers will play roughly the same number of competitive games this season (in the high 50s).
Not fully like for like but close.
Each will play 38 league games
Each played 4 games in the league cup, Celtic won the cup, R2ngers were losers in the final.
Celtic will play more matches in the Scottish Cup after R2ngers lost to Queens Park in the early rounds.
Celtic had direct entry into the Champions League.
R2ngers played a qualifier (2 matches) losing to the Kyiv team who would finish 34th of 36 in the Europa League.
Celtic had a 2-leg play off against a top 5 powerhouse losing narrowly while R2ngers had a bye.
Celtic didn’t play this week while R2ngers had a game against the team who finished 24th in the Europa League.
So, mixed compositions but roughly the same games – high 50s.
R2ngers will fail to perform in approximately 15-20 of those games across the season.
For Celtic, that number will be single figures.
That performance level of Celtic’s …
… playing to a slightly higher standard much more often?
… is the difference between being a champion and being an also ran
Think about the numbers, particularly those of R2ngers.
If they are NOT getting it done 15-20 times a season?
Means they ARE getting it done (playing quite well, well, or sometimes VERY well) roughly 40 times a season.
Statistically, that is success in the majority of outings.
Roll it all up though?
Doesn’t get the job done.
There’s an old saying in business.
“Good is the enemy of great”
R2ngers relative statistical success is also their biggest curse.
They can get it done often enough (just) to keep their idiot fans’ delusion – “we’re coming” – on the tracks.
They’re not.
When you remember it’s all the Huns have to hope for this season, their passion in the Europa League is not that surprising.
CB – sorry to hear that.
Rest up.
Picking up the phone is addictive.
I’m addicted.
If i am awake late at night – I try to pick up a book.
Although finding good ones seems to get more difficult as one gets older?
