MONTY ON THE MOVE

CELTIC teen defender Adam Montgomery has been linked with a loan move to Championship side Kilmarnock.

Ange Postecoglou is eager for the emerging left-back to get game time and new Rugby Park gaffer Derek McInnes is planning a swoop before the transfer deadline a week tomorrow.

Liam Scales, the £600,000 summer arrival from Shamrock Rovers, has edged ahead of the 19-year-old defender and played in last night’s 2-1 Scottish Cup win at Alloa where he set up the opening goal for Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Montgomery was missing from the squad for the match against the third-tier team with Greg Taylor among the stand-by squad.

McInnes, who has replaced Tommy Wright at the Ayrshire club, is looking for new faces after his side’s 2-1 loss to Dundee United in the national competition.

The former Aberdeen boss, speaking to the Scottish Sun on Sunday, said: “We have got enough numbers, but I believe we are maybe one or two different types away. That could help us.

“Maybe one or two going out will give us the freedom to get more in.”

McInnes has already signed Kyle Lafferty, Ash Taylor, Daniel MacKay and Dylan Tait in this transfer window.
