My knowledge of Chinese football since 1979 is limited, and I don’t watch a lot of Brighton or Huddersfield, so I’ll need to bow to Ange Postecoglou’s judgement when it comes to Australian international midfielder, Aaron Mooy.
Mooy was a mainstay in the Huddersfield team that won promotion to the English Premier League, stayed there, then were relegated after two years. His form won a move to then-EPL side Brighton, where he stayed for two years before the lure of the yuan.
20 games in 18 months in China ended at the turn of the year. Since then, Mooy has played only internationals, including three games for Australia last month. The reported one-year deal, with a one year option, for a free transfer, is low risk for the club.
Celtic have cover in the wide positions but central mid is an area where the headcount is down, after the departures of Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic. Rogic is easier to compensate for in the existing squad, it’s the No. 6 position, where Ange is limited to Callum McGregor and largely untested Yosuke Ideguchi.
Some of us will have a Pavlovian reaction, Mooy is two months older and has the same positional profile as James McCarthy, who signed a year ago but looked short of fitness all season. There is certainly reason for caution.
Celtic faced a genuine battle for the league last season, and I expect nothing less in the season ahead. Getting the mix right in central mid is one of my biggest concerns. This feels like a pivotal decision.

Dalriadbhoy …your point about Billy Stark exactly mirrors my earlier midfield point ( Callaghan , Sullivan , Rogic) …if the jersey fits wear it well as Rod would say …however spectacular own goal by you in your later text ..when you failed to identify a Celtic legend…oh dear …some of us were present when 10 men won the league and GEORGE was instrumental ..,poor show sir 🤔

NOT THE MALVINAS
Mid nineties was working in Argentina south of Buenos Aires and had a discussion about the Malvinas with rig manager.
” We won the war” ! Said he.
” how did you win the war”?
” We got rid of our dictator, You (uk) got one”!
Shook his hand and made a cup of coffee
Away from politics, he is a supporter of his local football league team, Bolton Wanderers,[39] and Rugby league team Warrington Wolves.[40]

Not the first time i have made a mistake and won’t be the last.
I am dyslexic and have some other neurodiversities, mind like a steel trap or sieve with no happy medium.
It was your post that made me think of Billy Stark.
Please don’t hesitate to put me right in future
I will always take it in the spirit intended.
That did make me chuckle though.
Away to watch Les Visiteurs with my family and teenage son as he wants to see it, he has decided to study French next year instead of Spanish
Looks like we were after Jenz last Summer but ended up with CCV

Moritz Jenz supposed to be a done deal. Loan with option to buy.
Own up, who edited the wiki page…
Moritz Jenz (30 April 1999) is a German, Irish professional republican and footballer who plays as a centre-back for Lorient. He is believed to place an ice cold pint of Guinness on wee Gio’s head as he relaxes in Kitty O’Sheas.
P.S. He is a 6ft 3 inch CH, well I’m just quoting from a text I just received from a mate ,
Just arrived. First post. But real old-timer. Love the diversity. It screams authenticity. True, vibrant voices. Multitudinous opinions, many oppositional. Good! Nothing to say at this juncture to provoke backlash on any particular topic. That will surely ensue. OK. Try this. I think Mooy is a shrewd low risk signing, but clearly not a game-changer. Head down, now, and wait for the flak!
