MORE ANGUISH FOR HATATE

REO HATATE suffered more anguish when Burnley threw away a one-goal advantage to draw 1-1 at Wrexham last night.

The Turf Moor club are still looking for their first Championship win after six games and are anchored joint bottom of the league on three points.

Hatate ended his four-and-a-half-year Celtic career when he joined the struggling Lancashire club on deadline day last week and made his debut in the 2-1 home loss to Bristol City at the weekend.

The one-time Hoops fans’ favourite started last night’s game on the substitutes’ bench before making an appearance in the 78th minute.

His new club had taken a 26th minute lead through Zeki Amdouni, but that was wiped out by Jacques Ekomie’s effort 10 minutes after the turnaround.

HAPPIER TIMES…Reo Hatate squeezes the ball past Jack Butland for Celtic’s equaliser in the 2-2 Premiership draw at Ibrox in March.

Remarkably, Burnley, who were relegated from the top flight last season, have not won a league game since October last year. To complete Hatate’s misery, he was booked in the fading moments for a bad foul.

At the opposite end of the table, the Japanese ace’s former Hoops team-mate Arne Engels helped West Ham to take over in pole position following the London club’s 3-2 victory at Bolton.

The £22million Belgian international set up his side’s second goal for Konstantinos Mavropanos with a trademark free-kick.

The Hammers’ are now ahead of Swansea City at the top on goal difference after the Welsh outfit, with ex-Celts Stephen Welsh and Adam Idah in the line-up, lost 3-1 at Southampton.

Sharing joint-bottom position with Burnley are Preston who crashed 2-1 at Watford.

Johnny Kenny, who joined the Deepdale club in a £3million switch from Parkhead last week, started the match, but was withdrawn in the 66th minute.
