More fantasy about a miracle rescue

742

I was out of mobile phone range for most of yesterday and returned to read more histrionics.  On Tuesday I wrote: “Whatever ‘good news’ Duff and Phelps come out with later”, knowing full well (you all knew too) that news of Bill Miller’s departure would soon be countered by a fantastic (literally) piece of optimism from Rangers administrators.  They didn’t disappoint.

Today’s Guardian tells us that one bidder has “proved to Duff and Phelps they have a means of securing current owner Craig Whyte’s shares.”

Administrator, David Whitehouse, explains:  “One of the bids is for a stand-alone CVA and there are a number of hurdles which need to be overcome. Our view is that it is challenging, but it is not impossible. The purchaser who is talking to us about a stand-alone CVA has demonstrated to us that they have got a mechanism where Craig Whyte’s shares are not an issue.”

Ah, the illusive mechanism!  So Craig Whyte is irrelevant again.

We are three months into the process, Craig Whyte is no more irrelevant today than he was on 14 February, he remains the Only Show in Town.  Once he stops being the main event, HMRC take top billing.  After them, the players will have their 15 minutes of ‘action’.  Then you will hear more of the story.  If there is anything left after all this, the SPL and SFA will have their say.

Prior to appointing Bill Miller preferred bidder Duff and Phelps explained why a stand-along CVA was no longer possible.  No amount of creative thinking will change this fact.  The season ends on Sunday, Rangers last chance to pull a deal together passed on Monday, when Duff and Phelps were unable to present a proposal to the SPL.

Even IF a phoenix is assembled for next season, or the season after that, it will be a humbled shell of what was once Rangers.

Rangers Football Club is disintegrating and will do so at an increasing rate in the weeks ahead.  Again, cease and desist with the adolescent hysteria.  Chill. Go for a walk in the rain and spare a thought for those football fans with genuine worries.

possibly mate. Awe Naw lived in the town next door to my wee village, a bigger place obviously. I wonder if he has a different experience, although, I should mention he is a bit younger than me so different era’s by a decade or so.

    Awe Naw? Any thoughts?

  4. Paul67 – well done on radio Scotland tonight. You were a credit to yourself, family and football club.

Having said that nothing has made me change my mind that the Hun will be in the SPL next season. In terms of sanctions I suspect this will be a ban from Europe (probably 1 season) and not much else.

I hate the thought of that but I think we will have to live with it.

Big cup winners. I am the same opinion as you in my neck of the woods it allways has been as it is today bitter. My first recolection was age 7 or 8 being punched in the face because of my primary school tie. From then on because there were very few Catholics in the village I lived in in Ayrshire I had to be very carefull who I talked to or where about I went and until I left that village at age 18 I got regularly assaulted and name calling.I wish I could say different but that is my experience of them as a young lad.H.H.

  6. If not already mentioned, the Thai Tims are on BBC Alba tonight. The programme starts at 9pm.

  7. I was curious to read how Bears on Rangers Media forum were interpreting the stories surrounding D&P and new bidders. It was kinda like this:

I hope they can get us into the English league and leave all these back stabbing t*****s up here.

London based,Epl and Rangers connections and plenty of cash, what about Joe Lewis and Levy at Spurs.Just a guess but maybe Lewis feels he can get some of the 20 mil he lost back.

    Good LORD(sugar) hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Well 5 or 6 weeks ago he was talking about us…….thought hmmmmmmmmmm why is he putting his tuppence worth in.

Jim White on SSN saying they are well funded, dont want liquidation and meeting with D&P later today hoping to be PB by tommorow. Sorry have plenty EPL experience as well

Previous EPL experience? Im hearing could be Elton John

Ok make of this what you will lads my mates uncle whos a taxi driver in london had a high flying buisness man in the back of his cab and overheard him say on the phone that he was really exticted as it was his first time getting involved in football and hoped to make it a global brand as i said make of this what you will

    RICHARD BRANSON?

    Its obviously Milan Mandaric.

Gordon ramsay part of funding consortium? ???

the only one i can think of that fits the bill is alan sugar, he tweets abotu football non-stop and tweeted about Bill Miller pulling out the minute the news broke. His net worth is around £700m+ which officially makes him a billionaire (as it’s over 1bn dollars). Although he is a spurs man through and through so you also have to wonder if he would be interested.

    Fergie

i’d thought of Fergie as well – he said a while ago that he would be looking to buy a football team when he was finished with Man Utd (lesser team than Rangers though but now the opportunity is there …..), he’s also a Rangers man, knows football and the scottish game inside out, has fantastic contacts within the EPL and his brother was at a game a couple of weeks ago.

William Lomas (steves dad), Ken Bates (ex Chelsea), Donald Deveraux (CEO of Rtc PLC) and Obviously Sir Walter

    and so it goes on.

I have just had the pleasure of watching the Thai Tims on BBC ALBA. The unbelievable hard work that Paul Lennon and his family has done to highlight the plight of down syndrome children is brilliant as is Neil’s face as the kid’s all charged him!! Just fantastic. My girlfriend is from Issan in Thailand and this is a daily national news story. Because of this Celtic are a huge story!! So well done to the Lennon’s (Thai ones) and me and my family will see you on Sunday at the Park. Khup khun krup.(excuse spelling!) Hail Hail. HH.
