Just as Celtic’s injury problems appear to be lifting Spartak Moscow’s are getting more acute each passing game. Their cult-hero goalkeeper, Andriy Dykan, was substituted after picking up an injury in yesterday’s win against 10-man Amkar Perm and is unlikely to face Celtic. Already injured, Pareja, Welliton, Parshivlyuk, Jurado and Romulo, never made the squad.
The goal Spartak lost to ninth-place Amkar, is worthy of note. It was the eighth goal they have lost to a set piece in the last 10 games. Celtic have been particularly effective from set pieces in Europe already this season and will see an opportunity in corners and free kicks deep in opposition territory.

Just reading the Sunday Times sport section article on the Celtic game yesterday…. talking about Hoopers goal and the link up play with Commons, “The two englishmen had been threatening such damage.”. Is this the reason Levein isnt picking him I wonder?

If you should meet Phil Mac when you are over tell him I was asking for him!

KTF ……. Under NEIL’s leadership anything is possible ……. I have a dream …….. for this dream team ……. And with no bhuns anymore, we can put all their shoite behind us and move forward, concentrating on SPORT….
In the second half alone I counted 19 goal attempts from Celtic, eight of them on target.
Some of the passing sequences were a delight to behold, the record being a string of 39, culminating on Kris Commons being fouled on the edge of the Motherwell box, although we didn’t get the decision.
Tallybhoy-Would be a pleasure to meet the man.HH

Any truth that the divers spontaneously started chanting “John Greig…John Greig” ???
ONE win in their last TWELVE CL games at home.
Mon The Hoops!
I was very pleased with yesterday
My view is we now have nearly all injured players back, but more importantly they are finding their fitness from last season. I think a lot of the players came back in a shocking condition and given how important the CL qualifiers were then it is unacceptable.
I think Lenny should consider shortening the summer break for the players and demand they return for at least conditioning training as soon as their annual holiday is over. Given who increasingly important those qualifiers now are for the for future years.
The players will have to maintain their core fitness and if they cant be trusted to keep themselves fit then their extended break will have to be much shorter .
The club can be flexible over the holiday period but we need them fit and ready well before the qualifiers start.
But I think now we are up to speed we can now go unbeaten in the league, with a long stretch of wins.

Interesting comment on the BBC about Griffin
DUP councillor and Orangeman, Christopher Stalford, said the “values the BNP represent are the antithesis of unionist values”.
“Unionism is open and inclusive, you can come from any background and be a unionist. I don’t believe that Nick Griffin had any place being there and this is exactly the sort of stunt that he thrives on,” he said.
“The truth is, there were 35,000 or 40,000 people out on Saturday having a very positive and happy day.
“One knuckle-dragging MEP turning up does not mar the whole day. I just think it’s sad that it has received the attention it has. That’s probably mission accomplished as far as he is concerned.”

navanbhoy’s right. Glenveagh is a very special place
For those tempted by Celtic at 5/1, you would maybe be better to look to the exchanges,
They are currently 7.2 ( 6.2 /1) with Betfair.
Good Luck.
It really is an ongoing pleasure to not have to even envision playing them (Whatever corpse they inhabit) for the foreseeable. A cup tie being an exception, not a rule. That mixture of pride and dread and the often later released stories of terrible violence.
I could not care if we never, ever played them again.
I truly hope we don’t.
Watching the Benfica game on TV, seeing how truly showed and awed their players were of our support. Seeing the massive display the GB had organised?
It truly is a golden time for us and our support.
A lot of folk should be congratulated for their efforts and their seemingly effortless loyalty and fealty.
I’ll start.
Thank You.

I did a wee bit of walking in Glenveigh Park a few months ago.
It is hauntingly beautiful.
If you get a chance, I would recommend you pay a visit to Ardara.
Lovely town.
Good Luck.
Did anyone think that we should have been awarded a penalty around the ten minute mark.
The move that saw James Forrest slip in Gary Hooper, keeper saves and the ball ended up back with Gary on touchline. Gary passes back across goal to Kris commons who, to my mind anyway, had the legs taken away from him before he could connect with the ball.
I thought it was a blatant penalty.
I only saw it on Alba and they never replayed it, and since i dont speak Gaelic I dont know if it was even mentioned.
Maybe someone can put me right.

Champions League: Celtic’s Adam Matthews is doubt for Moscow
Celtic remain hopeful that full-back Adam Matthews will recover from an ankle injury in time to face Spartak Moscow in the Champions League.
Striker Lassad Nouioui will definitely miss out with a calf injury.
But Wales defender Matthews, who also missed Saturday’s 2-0 win over Motherwell, arrived at Glasgow Airport with his right foot in a cast.
“It is really a precautionary measure,” said Celtic’s assistant manager, Johan Mjallby.
Matthews wears a protective boot around his injured foot at Glasgow Airport
“We are still hoping he will be in the squad, but it’ll be touch and go.”
Matthews rolled his ankle in training on Friday and missed the victory at Fir Park that took Celtic to the top of the Scottish Premier League.
Striker Georgios Samaras and midfielder Joe Ledley continued their comebacks from injury as they appeared from the bench.
Israel midfielder Beram Kayal, who returned after a month’s absence against Raith Rovers in midweek, was an unused substitute as his side leapfrogged Motherwell with a game in hand.
“Sammy is really important for us, especially in Europe,” said Mjallby.
“He has legs, which is important when you are playing against top teams.
“It’s a bonus for us to have him, Beram and Joe back as it makes the squad much stronger.”
Celtic drew their opening Group G game 0-0 at home to Benfica as Spartak gave Barcelona a fright before losing 3-2 at Camp Nou.
Since losing in Spain, Spartak have won three domestic games in a row.
The latest was a 3-1 win away to Amkar that lifted the Moscow side to fifth place in Russia’s top flight, four points adrift of leaders Anji Makhachkala.
Former Celtic winger Aiden McGeady was rested for that game, but the Republic of Ireland international is expected to return to face the Glasgow side.
T4-Alistair Campbell is one of the guys helping out in Pedal for Petrov,to raise money for leukaemia research. He said Celtic and a few others were fantastic, but he said the response from fellow pro’s has been embarassing .
“Sammy is really important for us, especially in Europe,” said Mjallby.
“He has legs, which is important when you are playing against top teams.

VP – legs are very under rated in the modern game!
Bada Bing – I saw Campbell on Soccer AM and heard him say that. Fair play to him for the fundraising he’s doing.
