More injuries and set-piece woes for Spartak

1051

Just as Celtic’s injury problems appear to be lifting Spartak Moscow’s are getting more acute each passing game.  Their cult-hero goalkeeper, Andriy Dykan, was substituted after picking up an injury in yesterday’s win against 10-man Amkar Perm and is unlikely to face Celtic.  Already injured, Pareja, Welliton, Parshivlyuk, Jurado and Romulo, never made the squad.

The goal Spartak lost to ninth-place Amkar, is worthy of note.  It was the eighth goal they have lost to a set piece in the last 10 games.  Celtic have been particularly effective from set pieces in Europe already this season and will see an opportunity in corners and free kicks deep in opposition territory.

Tuesday is the day…..

    Really feel for him.

I liked him as a player but thought that he wasn’t cut out for the rough and tumble of Scottish football.

  14. Real Madrid are winning 4-1 at home to Deportivo La Coruña, who are currently letting the pan-Celtic people down, but that’s by the by.

A lot of talk on Radio Nacional about Mourinho alienating the senior Spanish guys in the Real Madrid team. Xabi Alonso, dropped, but came on as a sub for Luka Modric on 58 minutes.

Big Sergio Ramos, started tonight, but previously dropped and previously at the centre of a public slanging match with Mourinho.

Iker Casillas hasn’t been dropped, but he caught the Radio Nacional eye tonight because when the fourth goal went in, scored by Pepe, a Mourinho favourite, Iker didn’t celebrate the goal. Pepe made a bee-line for Mourinho on the touchline.

Real Madrid is a soap opera. That’s not meant as a compliment.

  15. Some cracking photos there CRC, looks like you all had a great time. Where about is the Pheonix? Took me nearly a year to find the whereabouts of Sharkeys!!
