More wingers mitigate Celtic risk

Having signed two wingers in season 2022-23 (Jota – on a permanent contract, Haksabanovic) and four in season 2023-24 (Palma, Kuhn, Yang, Tilio), Celtic cut back on their most persistent transfer fix and limited the arrival of wingers to Jota during the season just finished.

We are again reported to be in the market for a winger; there are reasons.  Jota is out injured until the end of the year, Daizen Maeda has two years left on his contract, which he has so far declined to extend.  While Nicolas Kuhn will attract more attention than anyone else in the squad, in particular from his native Germany.

With Kuhn and Maeda under contract, Celtic have a degree of control ahead of the Champions League qualifiers in August, but that is not complete control.  Players who are attracting attention seldom perform at their best near deadline day.  Even if we resolve to keep both players for the season ahead, at this stage of the summer, there is reasons to be concerned about how focussed parts of the squad will be in August.

More wingers is one way to mitigate the risk.

    I am unsure if it was a catalyst for chat about teams not playing vs Israeli clubs of drawn in CL but I did say I felt Pep backing his recent public utterances by instigating a stand by Man c might be a lot more powerful than should Celtic boycott as some were suggesting. It certainly is not a likely scenario although who knows what to expect.

     

     

    For 50 years or so I wondered how ordinary Germans could stand by and let genocidal Hitler do as he did. Now we see ordinary Americans and British folks and Europeans stand by and watch the Israeli leadership and the American leadership do as they are doing and we do so little. Our media even supporting what is going on.

     

     

    Personally I have only attended 2 demos and written 3 letters to our MP. It is a pathetic effort in the scheme of things. In 30 years it will be interesting when grandkids etc ask my age group what did you do about it ?

    Thanks for your considered reply,i was just wondering where all this chat arose from.i seen Peps speech recently and brave it was too,meeting a backlash from the genocidal maniacs who want you to normalise death and destruction,wave after wave of death atop wave after wave of zionist propoganda.

     

    Pep speaks personally,Man Citehs owners wont speak out for diplomatic reasons and Citeh like all clubs will follow the sleazy hipocrites at UEFA who oversee corruption(including citehs when CL champions) at every turn.

     

    Celtic cant act as in 67/8 the world has changed since then,we do not have the political clout we once had.

Why do I turn up for the demos. Well on the demos they sometimes speak directly to Gazans or Gazans turn up live. They ask us to keep turning up. That’ll do for me.
