MORELOS BRANDED ‘A CLOWN’

FORMER Scotland international Alan Brazil has branded Alfredo Morelos “a clown” after the Colombian’s red card in his side’s 2-1 win over Celtic at Parkhead yesterday.

The Ibrox striker was banished for diving in stoppage-time as he attempted to con referee Kevin Clancy into awarding the visitors a penalty-kick.

The match official, who had earlier booked the controversial hitman for a foul on Hoops skipper Scott Brown, immediately produced a second yellow before dismissing Morelos.

It’s the SEVENTH dismissal of the hot-headed forwad’s Ibrox career and he’s now been sent off on his last two starts after being banished at Motherwell for making gestures to the home supporters.

He was also sent off against Neil Lennon’s side last season as the champions won 2-1. On that occasion, referee Bobby Madden reacted to an off-the-ball incident with Brown.

The 23-year-old could also face retrospective action after appearing to aim a throat-slitting gesture towards the home crowd.

TalkSPORT pundit Brazil, a Celtic fan, admitted Steven Gerrard’s side deserved their victory, but backed the champs to recover and secure a ninth Premiership title on the spin.

Speaking on his Sports Breakfast show, Brazil said: “I’m not going to make excuses, they deserved it and, to be honest, they were the better team in the Cup Final.

“Celtic had two cleared off the line and missed a penalty. But, for me, for a good hour Rangers were better.

“Celtic have got to stop the midfield and they just cannot defend set-pieces. They have got two big centre-halves. Ajer, he doesn’t head the ball.

“Morelos again. He’s a clown. I don’t know what’s wrong with the guy.

“I think Celtic will still win the title. They are still two points clear, by the way.

“Rangers will slip-up. I am going to get slaughtered by Celtic fans, but we need Rangers back, we need a fight right until the end.”
