Motherwell game encapsulated much of our season

382

After exploiting the inadequacies of Aberdeen and Newco with 10 men in consecutive league games, it was all a bit ineffective against 10-man Motherwell yesterday.  This game encapsulated so much of the football we watch: how to generate clear scoring chances against defences that stick to task and do not make mistakes.

The one gilt-edged chance we made was a late counterattack, when Motherwell had the audacity to try to win the game.  The script was written for Scott Sinclair, whose first touch was sublime, but his shot fell victim to a lunging defensive block.  The lesson, surely, when facing Celtic, is not to venture too far up the park.

Brendan should reflect on this when next we face tier-one Champions League opponents.  If Motherwell can stop Celtic, Celtic can do likewise to the PSGs of this world.  How to unlock a packed defence is another story.

  1. i find it inexcusable for a ream as big as celtic to not have cover at rb or lb.

we keep playing players out of position, please try and go north and south instead of accross the pitch all day.

teams know how we play its time to change before we fall asleep.

centres have to get the ball on the move before they can score.imo.

I loved Cardinal O’Brien and trusted him with my children. I felt a cold shiver when I learnt of his behaviour. Too close to home. I still practise my faith but will never trust a priest fully again. I do not go to confession because of O’Brien. I confess to JC. The top priest in Scotland has driven many Catholics in Scotland away from our faith sadly. Unfortunately that is his legacy.

Give him time, bud. His age, turning your back for good reasons is a natural thing. Happens all the time.

As we get older,it comes back. And even if he has turned his back on The Church, even now he won’t have turned his back on belief.

    He’ll be fine,G.

That campaign started long ago, King and his paid hands and errand boys just the latest version.

How do you kill the cancer without killing the patient?

What we do know if you do not intervene, the patient will live a bit longer but they inevitably will die.

From the accounts, to the Close loan, to COS/TAB, the cancer is spreading, with no signs of abating.

ST sales will be the sticking plaster, not the cure and the sticking plaster this time around much thinner, due to the greater liabilities that need servicing, so the wound will seep and spread even quicker.

I did previously state that we were locked into a cycle of diminshing returns, not that anyone would notice, but it is the duty of the board to break us out of that cycle, of which they are clearly incapable of doing so for whatever reason. Maybe they themselves have had enough and are trying themselves to hasten an exit strategy, whatever that turns out to, but again what we do know is that ST money alone does not keep the lights on, so unless there is significant investment (and king cannot fund any gaps due to his problem with COS/TAB) or radical cut backs. Without either, the cancer will kill the patient.

So, what say the chances of the patient?! What actions/interventions needed for it to survive?

We get a serious injection of cash, or we radically cut back our overhead in players/staff to live within our means, problem solved. Ignore it, the patient has little chance of survival.

All this talk of a new manager and players is commendable, but it will all be so pointless if we do not find a solution to our financial woes.

If no significant cash injection is forthcoming, would we accept cut backs, putting us further behind our greatest rival, or would we indeed be compelled to take action to remove this board?

The scenarios moving forward could be many, but what we do know, the status quo is a road to nowhere. Change is an imperative.

To trust a priest then learn the truth about him made me realise that I am a better human being than a man who became the leader of our faith in Scotland.

I despise O’Brien and think he will get a KB fae Saint Peter today.

Callum Mcgregor has his detractors in the stands and on this site , why play him at left back . In my eyes you lose out further forward with his runs behind the MW defence and lose out on playing / giving gametime to someone like Calvin Miller at left back .

Thank you father. You are one of life’s good priests. My anger at O’Brien was he taught and watched my children in Fife. I loved Keith, but he took the piss out of the Catholic faith in Scotland. He is going to hell today I think.

  18. Our opponents have now sussed that our possession obsession is working in their favour as long as they just hold position.

Our players almost always take the highest percentage pass rather than an effective one.

This caution has led to our off the ball movement slowing to a trickle as they find a safe place to give and make passes.

It is noticeable how often our players with acres of space in front of them pause and then make a sideways or backwards pass.

In our last 5 league games we have won 2 drawn 2 and lost 1.The Rangers have scored more league goals than we have.

We have strikers with vastly more talent than any other team in the league but frankly the service to them has been awful.

Our defense is vulnerable due to constant change.uncertainty and a lack of protection in front of them which is the reason we shipped so many goals in Europe.

There are issues with this team and our coaching system this season.

A lot of people need to take a realistic view of their performances this season and address them before they impact our chance of continuing success.

    Arrestment At Ibrox

In an exclusive for this site I can reveal that the following missive has been sent to all staff in a major retail bank. As I am unable to copy the original document I have chosen to transcribe it word for word:

” If any of the parties has a connection, kindly inform Arrestment Team Customer Delivery immediately by telephoning 01475- xxxxxx (I chose to withhold the full number).

Give details of types of accounts and securities held, quoting balances of any joint account holders.

If there is any doubt about the extent of funds to be attached, withdrawals should be stopped pending further instructions from Arrestment Team Customer Delivery.

The arrestments below are for £10k or over:

Oh deary, deary me. Some of the banking natives are growing restless. Blowpipes are being greased as I write. If an enterprising journalist wishes to contact me I will happily furnish them with the redacted phone number.

However if the word ‘investigative’ is a foreign field in a foreign country, then take pause. If one prefers to solicit Yuanker Traynor to offer his first draft on your reportage, then don’t be surprised should I spurn any purported journalistic curiosity.

Are we about to witness Sheriff Officers beating a well-worn path to Ibrox?
