Motherwell inflame and fail to learn lessons

369

Two games into a three game run against Motherwell I would expect to have a bit of claret and amber fatigue. But frankly, I can’t wait to get stuck into them tomorrow. I know we took the cup on Sunday, and rescued our Invincibility-ness on Wednesday, but their manager’s inappropriate reaction after the final, then the club’s statement, where they assert referee decisions affected both games, whereas “should any evidence exist” that missiles were thrown at Celtic players, they will act.

So evidence might not exist? Maybe Leigh Griffiths brought that bottle onto the field himself and the coins dropped from Mikael Lustig’s waste-band.

Very clever, Motherwell. What actually happened was your manager inflamed your fans ahead of Wednesday, then your stewards failed to even look at the crowd while missiles were raining on Celtic players. Then your subsequent statement assured everyone that you had no evidence of wrongdoing.

You condoned the actions of your players, who learned nothing after Sunday and repeated the same mistakes on Wednesday. You fail to condemn your fans after Wednesday, who will learn only that there are no consequences for their actions.

Can we talk about Celtic for a moment?

If Celtic is your thing, and you will be at tomorrow’s game, you can contribute to the Foundation Bucket Collection. The Foundation feeds the hungry, shelters the homeless and comforts those in deprivation, all in your name.

It is a magnificent gift to us as Celtic supporters. Nowhere else in the football world does an organisation of such scope and action exist.

Bring some cash and join the Movement.

    Morning Tims.

Part 3 of the trilogy of tears against Mwell today.

If I wisnae going a last minute penalty win would be a laugh for us, but as I am going I want a good few in the well pokey.

Although I also hate the games prior to European games, seems as though the old expression “wan eye on Europe “has never left me.

Jimmynotpaul, I’m off this monday. I have been advised I am going christmas shopping .

Today ,I’m torn between rotating the team to prevent any possible injury to our main men with our huge game on Tuesday or playing our strongest team to cuff today’s opposition which would delight us all after the amount of bilge they have come out with over the last week.

Is Paddy’s game on today? .

  9. For me,strong team today and, obviously, again on Tuesday. Likewise v Hibs. After that, Hamilton, Hearts,Thistle and Dundee offer opportunities for squad rotation.

My own view is that we do not weaken the team to any great extent by playing the likes of Ralston and Svietchenko whilst in the midfield, only Broonie is a certain selection in our strongest grouping.

Rutherglen main st closed today folks for those that head that way to the game.

Give yourself a bit more time to get there, usually when main st is shut, the rest of the area is murder.

  11. It’s been 32 days since our last game at CP against Bayern and now we have the first of 6 games at CP in the next 28 days. The fixture scheduling is a joke. Hh

  12. Ntcham for Armstrong and Sinclair for Roberts should be the only two changes from Wednesday’s starting 11.

They are still mouthing off in press about what they’ll do to us and our players so time to give them a hiding. Minimum 4-0

  16. Charlie Nicholas sold his soul decades ago when he appeared in support for Thatcher in the 1983 election. Anyone who could support that cow will do or say anything for money.

Had the world at his feet as a young player and made loadsamoney at Arsenal and now as a pundit, but he could have been really special had he not been such an arrogant, brainless feckwit.

  20. i got my healthy suspicion of referees and their motives from my dad. Bobby Davidson and JPR Gordon to name a couple who really did their bit for the cause in our days following the hoops together in the 70s.

I got my cynicism about the media bias in coverage of all things Celtic from my mum. Latterly she would be constantly observing how ‘sick of it’ radio Scotland folks always sounded mid week on their 6.30pm programme.

This week has seen the level of bitterness reach a new level. Despite Aberdeen being kicked off the park and suffering 3 glaring and significant errors of judgement at critical times at Ibrox on Wednesday there has not been a cheap about it from the media. Operation establish the old order is in full force. Mum would have had a view for certain today.

Today though wee Morag will be looking down on us from the big screen at CP at Half Time and from on high. Hopefully enjoying Scotty Sinclair and young KT, Broony and Griff put Motherwell and the snivelling media in their place.

Not normally one for predictions but 4-1 Celtic feels really good for me today.

I think our resolve as a team needed little in the way of revitalising but anything it did need has been provided by our club, fans, players and integrity being challenged this past week. The odds on a second invincible season seem more attractive today than before the Motherwell trilogy in my view.

  21. JIMMYNOTPAUL

Hope your wife and wee one make a quick and full recovery!

I will remember them (and you) in my prayers.

    Take care.

  22. Today I would like to see the whole team getting stuck right in . On Wednesday night , we had players who more than showed they don’t like the rough stuff . Been saying for years we are too soft , too many harry hoods and vic Davidson’s in the team . Did anyone notice as sinclaire lifted the ball to take the penalty ,it was punched out of his grasp , then he was surrounded by Mother’s players , only broony came to his aid . I’ve been watching football for over 60 years , can’t name a great team who hadn,t steel in the ranks . Time to get them toughened up Brendan , let you Ralston loose on them .

  23. ps, on charlie nick how any man could spout support for thatcher speaks volumes about his character and his greed.

  24. On the road again.

Big queues heading out of Granite City….due to either the bypass roadworks, or more likely that people are getting out of town early to avoid the appearance of busloads of sub-human vermin who will come to pollute our streets in the next 24 hours.

Really hoping we hand out a Deila-style beating today to this odious crowd of bad losers and make them STFU. Sick of hearing over the last 7 days what they’re going to do to us only for them to s*** it when they have the chance to live up to their lunatic mutterings.

See y’all in Paradise, God willing.
