St Johnstone (through manager Steve Lomas) and Kilmarnock, through Rangers supporter (literal sense) Michael Johnston, have both declared their vote to allow a Newco to take Rangers place in the SPL next season. Celtic will vote against and Dundee United appear open to persuasion. The next most important team in the country is Motherwell.
Motherwell, alongside Celtic, Dundee United and St Johnstone have a place on the SPL board. They are migrating towards ownership and control by a large number of small supporter-shareholders, they’ve benefited from Rangers demise and in July will feature in the Champions League qualification draw, broadcast live from Monaco.
On the downside, despite their on-field success this season, the club will have to trim football budget for the coming season as Champions League qualifying money does not make up for earning less from cup runs this season and inflation pushing costs up.
Motherwell fans seemed to enjoy their visit to Ibrox on Saturday but does anyone expect them to vote against Rangers?

I’m Neil Lennon (tamrabam),
They are an SPL member and so will have a vote. I would assume that D&P will vote on behalf of the club – but that’s an assumption. Anyone know for definite?
How much do you think a Celtic season ticket for the third division will cost?Years ago members of the board stated:season ticket money hardly covers the wages(not verbatim).

Anyone given any thought to the impact that allowing a Newco into the SPL would have on the blog as well as the match going support? Sort of thinking out loud here.
Whilst unlikely, if a Newco were our main competitor and continued to get the benefit of referee decisions, what would be the point of complaining then? It would simply be a question of this is how it is, like it or lump it. After taking a few lumps and arguing over what should be done and then realising it would make no difference, interest would fall away because the realisation would be there is no point on trying to stick anything on Teflon Rangers .
Allowing Newco to continue relatively undamaged simply takes away the whole point of playing the game, which is to win on sporting merit. All arguments on players, performances tactics, Celtic’s spending policy etc would be undermined by what difference does getting these things right make if Rangers are always going to win?
However a weakened Newco, with an obviously weaker less experienced squad who were being beat or drawing with other competitors on a more regular basis than has been so since Smith arrived and put them on financial steroids, would in fact become a source of enjoyment and their supporters’reaction a source of entertainment, jelly and ice cream until we got sick of it. our GoS (Generation of Schadenfreude)
The key thing would be that they returned financially weaker and that punishments make this so.
The right answer is still DIv3, even for Rangers, but a lot will depend on who goes, who stays and how they are able to fill the gaps from departures.
It may be that the end of the day reality would render any vote to allow Newco a place in the SPL an irrelevance. No UEFA money for three years, football debt still to be paid, Ticketus arguing that what is owed them to watch football is the same as football debt and taking their slice after court action, no bank limitless credit line and falling gates because the squad is weakened and they are playinf for a top six place or even better battling relegation (even though we know it will not be allowed we would be popcorn spectators enjoying the spectacle)
It might be we are all getting our knickers in a twist because we fear the first scenario and cannot believe the second will be allowed to happen.
It all went pear shaped in the pursuit of CL money, and with that out of their reach the ones complaining about referee decisions will not be Celtic supporters, it will be the teams lower down perhaps vieing with Rangers for a place in the top six. It will be their supporters who will know what being cheated is really like, but will know they are powerless to stop it.They should be more concerned than we are.
The first scenario could kill the blog, the second envigour the whole Celtic support enjoying Europe. Hmmmmm the right conditions for a Membership Scheme?
To add to that since last night if Newco get voted in and avoid sanctions Celtic have some explaining to our support to do that will take some convincing so I’d rule that out.(This will apply to all clubs.)
If a Newco are allowed then it depends on what financial punishmenst are applied because the less they are the stronger Rangers will be. The key factor is the crippling of Rangers (as we were crippled by them for years) and Celtic should be demanding the sort of finacial sanctions that were in Doncaster original proposals MUST be applied to Newco or Celtic walk away from the vote to consider their position legally. A bit of fillibustering.
If Scenario one applies then Div3 meets all integrity and punishment requirements BUT Oldco must also be stripped of titles because of the financial advantage EBTS and unpaid debt gave Rangers since 2000. (That will stop the SPL/SFA saying improper registration was clerical oversight)
Summing up. No Newco in SPL- fine
Newco in with punitive financial conditions – not so fine on full integrity grounds but more palatable to our support given the GoS.
Newco in with no punitive conditions – to the car park to find out why.
Ernie – I’ve seldom seen the terms “Scottish football” and “worldwide impact” used together, well I was going to say “so eloquently”, but I think I’ll settle for “at all”!
Maybe they’ll get voted straight into the Championship play-off final. Biggest cash prize going for 1 game. Will let them play in the EPL next season, AND wipe out the majority of their debts from just one game. Seems as plausible as the SPL voting against them phoenixing…

The point is though, and it’s one that Alex Thomson has made, and is the reason why he’s covering the story in the first place, is that it’s not just about football.
It’s much bigger than that.
It’s a parable for so much of modern life.
delayed again quelle suprise :/
what exactly are they waiting for?

Adjourned until the 30th. #SPL

O’Neill was explicit on Novo: he was never offered a deal with us. Even Novo admitted this in his bio. So tax/no tax was never an issue with that little runt.

Do any of you understand the concept of staying strong together……
something inside so strong.
I see a rift that is weakening the strength we have, I see those who cheated for 15 years or more potentially getting away with it, its of course a worry, but stay together on this Celts.
CFC have not had their say, UEFA have not spoken and the tax man has a view, oh did I mention the police may be interested.
waiting on Hector to kill them
no need to make any decisions that will have der hun posting your addresses and threatening you and your family on the timternet

30th May !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
That gives them 24 hours to provide
A stadium
The name of the team
The colours of the home strip
The colours of the away trip.
Financial reassurances (stop laughing at the back)
and for the SFA to verify it and reply in writing
Hail Hail
Negligence or cowardice?
Staring contest continues. No one wants to blink first.
WTF???
Adjourned to the 30th??
Right, when, when, WHEN does this become an issue on which we can no longer stay silent? Clubs have to sell season tickets, a TV deal has to be signed, clubs have to start preparing budgets etc. When are the new fixtures released?
This is a shambles. The SPL looks dithering and without scruples.
How can any of us trust the right thing will be done here?
Paul – MTH @MTHForum
Today’s adjournment opens the door for Rangers to finish the season and also to get NewCo in before sanctions can be installed. #Corruption
jake the snake @celticservant
SPL meeting adjourned until the 30th. 18th May for Celtic season book deadlines. Better extend that date too.
How do I feel in a strange way that is good news THAT THEY DONT WANT TO BE THE ONES TO SHOOT THE BEAST IN THE HEAD………

and you honestly think that that hasnt been going on since Feb when they went into admin?
Well it appears the powers that be are still sitting on the fence and any decision on newco rangers put of until the 30th.The fact that Rangers had no one turn up for the meeting speaks volumes about there contempt for the rest of Scottish Football.H.H.
The decision is no decision – not exactly a shock either.
So is it:
a) A good thing that the rules have not been changed. How can a Newco application be considered when this issue is on hold?
– or –
b) A bad thing as it continues the uncertainty?

it does not need considered. The satus quo still stands. I.e that Rangers can swap their share without penalty.

Off topic…
Just seen the 50/50 on hutton in yesterdays villa/spurs game.So nearly a broken leg for him.Anybody heard how bad the injury is?
Something is very weird in this!…..clear as day corruption.
Hopefully the huns not attending might force some clubs to think again about siding with Newco.Their arrogance knows no bounds.
