Sevco were a minute or two away from dropping two points to Killie , who themselves were dumped out of Europe by minnows. They then had a convincing sounding win against a Hibs side who apparently were well in the game until the ordering off.

They have probably improved but we should not be shaking in our shoes just yet. Our will and drive to get to 9 needs to be better than their will and drive to stop us . We have the better players and manager.

  2. My friends in Celtic,

I have no doubt we will add some quality to our squad. No matter how good some individuals are we need competition for all positions.

We could not have asked for a better start to the season however NFL will be looking for more, and that is only correct.

For many of us the hun results are no surprise. They are genuine challengers and we must embrace and welcome the chase ( which I’m sure we will )

    Its all about the Celtic

    HH to all.

  3. I bet that on inter quick news on 24th May 67 they would be saying ‘ who in the Celtic team would get in the inter eleven’

    Just saying

  4. Will be feeling a bit happier about the season ahead when we actually see some work done by this Nick Hammond bloke who will be leaving in september.

Not sure who he has been responsible for signing so far but I am sure it is not many if any.

We need to recruit well over the next three weeks.

Pay the money Celtic. Now is the time to even possibly smash the weekly salary limit.

I would imagine Callum and French Eddy will be needing pay rises ASAP to keep them settled.

Thats how football works. If you think you have players worth 20million plus you have to pay them accordingly.

    We have the money .

We actually have the makings of a decent team with 3 or so quality additions.

I would for sure add at least 2 first team defenders.

Hibs were not in the game at all first half, except for one clever pass from Scott Allan (who not surprisingly was boo-ed every time he touched the ball) that setup the hibs goal.

Mr Bean (cheatin beaton) as much as i hate to admit it, surprisingly had a good game, booking five players (hibs 3 sevco 2) and the sending off (result of a deliberate handball, second yellow) was deserved. Only player that i seen who was particularly good was the ex-killie guy Jones, none of the others fill me with much confidence that they can turn us over, at the hate dome or otherwise.

I am confident, they will drop points this year.

  7. Hunderbirds are Gone on

Given the year we have had financially, I am flabbergasted by the suggestion that we are waiting until our European destiny is err… crystallised, to decide our budget on new players this window.

I don’t normally make this point, but if we cannot purchase the players we need, this year, then it will never happen. Summer after summer the PLC have “dicked around”, claiming, they cannot spend the money, without knowing our CL qualifying fate. Until now I have reluctantly accepted this financial reality, although it impacts negatively our qualification success.

The obvious solution is to increase our CL qualification chances, is to shop early. To get players in in the January window or preferably the previous summer.

I have always thought of course, that we would only have to do this once, to get ahead of the game. Find the money to do it once, and it should be possible to repeat every season after that, spending no more money than we currently do to get players in too late to gel, or too late to make a difference.

If that year is not this year, then sadly I believe it never will happen. We normally look to guarantee a payment of around £30m from a CL campaign, to release the investment (because an investment it is). Well this year we have £25m from the KT sale, £9m from the Fraudgers deal. We have been unusually successful in shedding some of the dross. As a result the playing staff wage bill must have been slashed. I assume the current management and coaching staff are not as well rewarded as the previous one.

    If not now Celtic… when?

  8. Maybe the players we want, those that can improve our first 11, don’t want to play for us.

I’ve always thought that one of the reasons Rodgers got in a huff is he just assumed that we could attract players of a certain quality to Scotland, and the reality was we can’t.

We can splash the cash on projects but no one wants projects any more they want ready made first team quality. And that sort of quality has better offers than Celtic.

    ============================================================================

When was that claimed ? By whom ?

Is it possible , just possible that agents and their players would be reluctant to sign for us and would wait until they knew that we were participating in the C.L. group stages ?

    Window still open.

    Let`s see .

  10. Who was the last “quality” player to be signed by a Scottish team? A player that had a real reputation, established career.

Rodgers signings at Celtic in truth were mostly mistakes. Rodgers hasn’t much of an eye for talent. Top coach that will improve players but definitely not to be trusted with a big transfer kitty.

  14. MACJAY ONE FOR NEIL LENNON

If agents and players are waiting around to see if we participate in the CL Group Stage, they will have 3 or possibly 4 days to persuade Celtic to act before the window closes. Cutting it a bit fine, don’t you think? I can’t remember us making a significant purchase in a similar position before.

    Can you?

I tend to agree with Hunderbird’s post. Why does Neil repeatedly say we need to offload players before we sign anyone else, when we are in our best financial position for decades? It makes no sense.

Agree about Rodgers ability to improve players.

Do not agree about his general tactical Philosophy.

An alarming lack of willingness to change a tactic which is patently failing , during a game.

Absolutely. I don’t care what comp. they are in, I want to see them pumped…….same as the original team.

The more games a team plays, the more they start to find a winning formula and the momentum continues. I don’t buy this too many games tires a team. They are bloody well played professionals at the end of day

    I take your point.

I just don`t think that these issues are as clear cut as some make them out to be.

I get the impression that Neil plays mind games with the media and I hope his pronouncements are well thought out before he makes them.

An improved Scottish coefficient helps Celtic .

For that reason , I can tolerate limited ( very limited ) success for the hun in Europe.

    That`s a first for me.

Sadly , it would appear that the Dons European campaign is kaput..

  24. bluegrass celt on

Can’t believe anyone would give that mob backing in any competition…..seriously?

If Celtic had speculated now and again instead of buying a token gesture when we’d scraped through to the CL , we might be less reliant on any other mob’s progress.

Get the money spent pronto ya tight arse git!

  25. Hi Bluegrass if your family was on the end of Aultbea St then I’ll know them. Never posted before but been a lurker since the start of this site, just don’t think I could add much to the usual stuff as only support the team on the pitch and have been disillusioned by the reaction to the cheating by the SFA and the lack of any other team and ours seeming to care

  28. Good enough performance yesterday . But Motherwell caused us problems , for me the defence is still a bit shaky . Big julienne like boli doesn’t in-still much confidence in me AT THE MOMENT . Still finding his feet I hope . Watched them today god they get the breaks , but have improved a fair bit I hope our three new defenders are up to speed and settled before we play them . They are an aerial threat . I also noticed when they hit the byline there are at least three of them looking for the cutback . But all said a few bits of quality brought in and we should be ready for them .

  29. Ok; given the amount of help, thull get from the ” authories” how much do the Ghood ghuys of Scotland, – ( Celtic!¬) need to buy to obviate the amount of skulldugery in scoddland???

I enjoyed their death, reincarnation and their Styx journey in the nether regions of Scotland.

I wallowed in their failures, their managerial messes, their financial ruin and their label as Scotland’s shame.

Does this schadenfreude make me a bad person or just a dyed in the green Celtic fan?
