Bad mistake from Mccourt gives ball away – murderwell shot saved by ZuL
Son of Gabriel on
Hooper for several weeks now (Much to the annoyance of many) keeps dropping deep to get the ball, often in line with our midfield.
All I can assume is that he has been instructed to try playing as the “false 9” position used throughout Europe at present (See: Di Natale, Messi + Co.)
As has already been suggested today, it is now about building for next season. We should not be worried about such things. When him + Stokes play together it is more often than not it is Hooper who plays deep and Stokes who stays on the shoulder or drags it wide (why he is usually offside, a pet hate of mine) so it is only natural for him to be the managers choice to try this tactic.
Players need time to learn how to play certain ways. It is no different from bedding into a side or styles of play. How many times have we seen a top player put out of position and suddenly looks completely different.
Could also be argued that if Hooper is playing the False 9 then Commons, by playing in the hole and often overlapping Hooper is instead of playing as a regular attacking mid or even a central winger is infact playing as a “false 10” (See Fabregas, Sneijder + Co.)
Can we complain to SKY about their commentary team? They are obviously pandering to them. But none of them will be watching. We should bar Walker from ever entering Celtic Park.
Among other of his gems, when Higdon huckles Mulgrew from behind, he can see why the ref gave a foul. No mention of a mandatory yellow for tackle from behind.
Celtic with six changes from a first choice eleven, well and truly on top of Motherwell, could be in front, and firm favourites to take all three points in the second half.

HT no goals no football.
No cutting edge up front to underline some attractive inter passing.
Six changes, different formation and a game we don’t really need to win.
Sounds like we had a lot of posession and made a fair few chances though.

Typical post-season friendly first half. We should still have too much for this lot in the second half.
Ex-Hun and Motherwell player in the studio – think I’ll switch over till the second half starts.

I won’t criticise Brozek for his performance first half.
He missed one chance, but show me a striker who has never missed a chance.
He showed great footwork to make a chance for himself at the end of the half, and the keeper was fortunate the ball came off his foot, otherwise it was in.
He deserves more time to prove himself.

Brozek has good feet and balance, but he looks rusty which is understandable.
He’s only here for game time before the European Championships in his homeland and I would have expected to have seen more of him.
Well it’s not as if Hooper and Stokes were on fire….!

For a change this game is not full of Motherwell fouls.
One or two but nothing else.
Cha is a waste of a jersey. He loses the ball far too often and his crossing is abysmal for a guy wide right.
Sorry Ki got injured but in truth I think he needs a break. He has looked poor for weeks now and hopefully this rules him out for next week. No passengers next week assuming there is a team to play against.
Pawel Brozek is either not match sharp, trying too hard or not very good. I’d like him to do better but he really is not winning a lot of people over.
Perhaps with a run in the side, he’d do better.
Commons is playing well but he needs to make better decisions when he has the ball.
Hopefully we can come out and win in the second half.

So much for assuming it was 4-3-1-2!
Listening to shortbread, so difficult to tell, but the 3-5-2 has seen us relatively comfortable at the back, dominating possession, but blunt up front with Commons and Hooper having to drop deep.
Has McCourt’s introduction changed the shape?

Celtic Playing Well..
Finishing is ..Poor..
Brozek,is Man oan the spot.. He is Nervous.
Ah Like his style..
He gets , where the action Is..
Ah like that.
Will not condemn him because of his Misses..
Needs a Goal tae settle..
Ah repeat. Ah think Brozek has Strong Possibilities.. Wouldn’t be surprised if Neil. Agrees..
We will Break down this Motherwell loat,in the Secon Half.

PS. I’m sick of these commentators.
Commons shoots wide with his swinger, after Andy Walker puts the boot straight into McCourts first touch.
wouldn’t like to run in to Commons..
Paddy loses frat possession Lucas saves
Vic runs down right commons shoots wide
Great run and cutback from Vic, Commons hits it wide

Ki off.
Another typical performance. No tackles, scared to challenge in the air, unwilling to come deep and take possession, looks panicked on the ball.
He’s a great passer of the ball though, apparently.

Fantastic sliding tackle first minute. Never bullied, all over the pitch, assured on the ball….and a great passer.
It’s all about opinions.
The screw is a turning.
So close
Brozek does better – nearly scores
Unlucky Celtic – more like it decent effort from Brozek
Brozek unlucky, keeper gets a foot to it and it squirms past. Brozek did really well to make the space to shoot.
Great run from big Vic
Unlucky Commons
Broz almost scores after good work by Commons
Odd choice of song from fans of the, ahem … ‘family club’.
Another chance missed by Brozek after showing some good footwork to create the opportunity
Playing great stuff now
HT 0-0
Brozek shot saved
Paddy crosses but ball high and could awarded to Mwell
Unlucky there Paval. h/t 0-0.

Brozek ran through, past two but hit it close to the keeper. HT
Wow, why has there not been any goals?

Zaluska doing well..Pavel B should be kept on – I think he’s doing ok – a goal will sort him

0-0 at h/t. Poor game.
Richie – agree, Ki looked pretty good
Half time 0-0

Commons must surely score 2nd half.
Pawel has shown that he can read the play up front and get into position very quickly. Has fast feet in tight spaces.
Is he better than Hoops and Stokes though?
I think Brozek has something different about him and could give us something.
