  1. DOC!-`GG-for me-the frightening thing is i personally cant imagine experiencing any joy or positivity from the misfortune of others-its the way i was reared-this crap is perverse-a balm for an imbalanced mindset-a stain on the beautiful game-i hope i live to see the day it stops

Despite viewing the Pen.events live only when seen your clips did it reinforce what I thought I had seen without benefit of replay.

In my view by keeping the game at 1-0 he was still managing the game and could have influenced it to our detriment,no doubt in my mind this guy cannot bring himself to award Celtic anything.

Not for the first time I will write to the guy supposed to be in charge of this shambles.

  3. Jeez wish I was a rugby man this game and the whole World Cup is awesome. Our game coulearn some lessons from it, not least how it,s reffereed? H H Hebcelt

The bosses are in their kips so got the iPad back, Roy C, Mark McGhee was a great signing for us, he knew the way to the goal, was mentioned last night about Davie Dodds nearly signing, but I think back in the 80s Paul Sturrock would have been a great signing, not as good as many others but he would have been great in the hoops, one of my favourites was the ghost Billy Stark, he moved effortlessly into the box, his goal against the BoS mob on his old firm debut was when Thierry Henry must have learnt to bend the ball around the goalie with your instep

Thunder Road…. Working on a Saturday you must be minted !

  5. I have no idea if Alan Muir played football at any level. I say that because it has been a gripe of mine for years at CP-sorry to those sitting near me-that most referees don’t understand the game. Usually this is for the nit pickers who clamp down and book for things that should be allowed to run especially as a game lasts 90 mins plus and they have a job to manage it.

However, guys like him have the laws of the game to fall back on for the really big decisions and this is where he falls down badly. Too many times now he has failed to react to and deal with some of the clearest cut decisions any of us have seen. I understand Celtic will not call him a cheat but they should call out his poor abilities. I believe his default position is not to give Celtic a decision, he’s a cheat, he was our biggest threat today and he almost cost us.

  6. We have enough genuine grounds for grievance with the non-handball decisions at ICT and, again today, to make a limited case on some refs but we can exaggerate the amount of corruption and cheating that there is.

I saw a lot of comment about the number of Red Cards and pens suffered by opposing teams playing the deid mob, so I decided to research what was behind it and whether it was statistically significant.

They have played 14 domestic fixtures and lost only one of these. Going on the BBC Match report data it show they have had (Deid club figures followed by opposition figures) :-

    YCs 17:42

    RCs 0:2

    Pens 8:2

    Foul Count 152:193

This is not compelling evidence of a helping hand. 4 of their penalties came in 2 matches which they won by 5:1 and 5:0 respectively, they were hardly crucial. One of the 2 reds occurred in a match they won by 5:1. Only in the win at Dumbarton by 2:1 could the red be claimed to be highly influential and, in that match, both teams got penalties, albeit the Sons got theirs in injury time when 2:0 down.

The only statistically significant element I see is that their foul count is discrepant with the number of YCs (and reds) awarded. Opposition teams have almost 2.5 times the YCs that Sevco men get but the overall foul count is roughly 3:4.

My reading is that the deid team have not needed any help this year as they are walking their league on merit. In the only fixture where they needed help, the St. Johnstone defeat, no pens or reds were awarded and though St. J. were deemed to have fouled twice as often, the card count was 3 yellows to the Saints and 1 to Sevco- hardly match changing.

My analysis does not mean that they do not get assistance or that we do not get a rough deal. It just means you have to be careful to balance your data against your perceptions and justified paranoia.

I would still be wary that, in matches where they need some assistance next year, should they survive, they will get some. It will not be enough, however

Hope your mum gave you as hard a time as you expected, just remember, like you said, you will miss those hard times so, as I know you do, enjoy the grief !

  8. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Brogan, if some of support think its cliquey on here, I wonder what they think of our refs.

The majority of refs are in what are referred to as professional occupations like lawyers, accountants, surveyors and a number of polis are refs. Steve Conroy is a doctor. He fell out with the ref inner sanctum after he was given lower league games for about three months .

The knives were out for Conroy after he sent Mendes off at Rugby Park and booked about five or six sticky buns in the game. He also sent the loyal Cardigan wearer to the stand for his less than dignified reaction to Mendes being sent off.

Conroy was lambasted by the media for ruining the game by booking so many players. Compare that to the media reaction to McCurry booking nine of our players at Ibrox.

When we played the liquidated mob a few months later, Conroy didn’t send Lafferty off for an outrageous tackle on Andreas Hinkel and denied Fortune a legitimate goal. I feel Conroy did this as a result of being slaughtered by the media after sending Mendes off at that Killie game.

Steve Conroy eventually chucked after being exiled to lower league games and him not being supported by the refs boss after that Killie game.

  9. PETETHEBEAT I agree they seem to have commonsense rules and embrace the use of technology. what I find most pleasing is the discipline of the players,I think I,m becoming a fan , just need to learn the rules. H H Hebcelt

Although I know next to nothing about rugby I know when I see a sport played well – all blacks are different class

  11. Bhrutus, a wee vino calapso for me tonight, I generally don’t need any to talk past, it’s a gift.

Roy Croppie, Muir was Motherwells MoM.

They didn’t ask him to play for them, he just wanted to.

    Shocking display.

  12. don’t know much about rugby at all, but I do know a good team when I see one. The All Blacks have just raised the bar above the level set by the Aussies, The guys Reid , McCaw and Carter are the Ronaldo , Messi and Griffiths of the egg chasing game.

See my earlier post about Andrew Dallas & co, who grows up wanting to be a ref ? This is a young guy who would rather referee than play, I know loads of Celtic fans that never ventured into Celtic park until they stopped playing football, why not offer guys who finish even at a lower level a crash course in refereeing and give them what 35-45 ten years reffing, far better than eijits with whistles, Mr Collum didn’t even like football, that was my nieces words who doesn’t know the difference between Celtic and Boston Celtic…..another wummin in my family that doesn’t like fitba

  14. Well done Celtic!

    R D Edwards – a pratt!!!!!!!!!!!!

Belfast Tele – you think think Daily Reord is bad ?????????

BTW – No real interest in rugby but lots of my friends want Ireland to do well – – – me, if they gave up ‘The Soldiers Song’ , f*** them – I actually wanted Wales to win it – my second favourite national anthem.

BTW, if they gave up our national anthem, why not change the name of the country too???????????????????

  15. DOC-oh i love wine too-but i still drink it like beer- thankyou kind sir and a hearty Hail Hail to you

Brain McGinlay reffed a schoolboy game we played in, on the road to the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden.

Red ash at All Saints behind the old Barmulloch College.

    He was total mince.

Either the professional game and its rules are different (have you noticed how many foul throws pros get away with), we were wrong or he didn’t like All Saints.

Always remember opposition player being outraged at our dissent/cheek to a top class ref. Loads of sweary words aimed – kn0b.

  17. The fields of athenry being sung during the NZ France game. Got to love the Irish willingness to party.
