CRAIGELLACHIE10 this enough to make you want to give up watching/attending football- perhaps!!! H H Hebcelt

Naw, Eden Park is a wee bit far for home games:)

NZ are the Brazil70 of the oval ball game. But the spirit in which the game is played is great as is the commitment of the players. But could they do it at Bayhead on a February morning after a rough crossing?

Rugby is gash, I just like the fact the refs explain their decisions, quite refreshing, imagine honesty in football

Efe is an easy target at times, the commentators also mentione what you said today, if that was John Terry for Chelsea the commentators would be commending hi for dealing with such a difficult ball, sometimes it’s easier picking faults than giving praise, Boyata is now getting to grips with marshalling his defence, Efe for me comes under the banner as a player the manager trusts, by the way I know you are not having a sig at Efe but concentrate on the fact it didn’t go in the top corner, apart from that did you enjoy some of the one touch fitba today ? Got a feeling we will beat Molde on Thursday as well…….. Switzerland next May ?

  6. RC thanks for the KInks ,my fave band could you dig out Cupid,s Inspiration “Yesterday has Gone” and/or The Showstoppers “Ain’t Nothing but a Houseparty” Thanks in anticipation. H H Hebcelt

In terms of accountability and transparency Scottish Rugby is years ahead of Scottish football and in turn the referees receive higher respect and trust.

It is a question of wanting to change or being forced to change for the better.

Does Scottish Football have the appetite for this? I have many doubts

I hated playing Rugby as a schoolboy and would do anything to get out of playing.

At anything other than International level in those days the gane was crap to watch as well.

The game of Rugby in general has taken huge strides in the last thirty years becoming a far better game at various levels including club level.

This game is fantastic to watch, but the whole tournament has been like that.

There are also significant undercurrents going on in the game.

Ireland are a significantly improving nation with the aim being to have two key players in every position.

The Australians and The All Blacks are always among the best in the world while the French in the last few years have lost their flair going for heavier and heavier forwards.

The game in Scotland continues to improve at club level while the international team can be inconsistent.

Right now they have a couple of world class players and the best back division unit they have had in years.

England massively under perform given the number of people playing the game in England.

The Argentinians and The Italians will continue to improve and get better as the game becomes more popular in those countries and everyone I speak who plays rugby says the day will come when the Italians in particular will suddenly step up a gear and be nobody’s whipping boys.

However, what I like most about Rugby is the crowd and the spirit it is played in. Whist it is more professional now the game retains an atmosphere and a sportsmanlike spirit that has to be admired.

Having said all of that, I remain afraid of the game. At one point there were more people in Stoke Mandeville hospital with spinal and paralysis problems as a result of playing rugby than as a consequence of any other kind of incident including motor accidents.

It is a great game to see played brilliantly, but I am fearful of spinal injuries at all levels and potential early dementia among the very top players – and i know I am not alone in my concerns.

  10. Before the QF many kiwis were anxious about their bogey team France. I have had a bit of fun winding them up. On this form they will be unstoppable. Richie McCaw is an inspirational Captain, turned down a night hood last WC but won’t be able to avoid it if , sorry when they win this one. Good to see Celtic back at number one position in the league. We will stay there until May now. Hail hail.

  11. Gordon 64

You mean they did not squeeze each other’s testicles in the front row? I heard that from a Scotland RU captain

They did not undermine support for S. African sanctions by going on tour there and inviting their teams over? I must have mistaken the protest marches I went on and mis-remembered Jim Renwick’s sneering face.

They did not split with Rugby League because they wanted to keep it a “gentleman’s” game and not have paid oiks who could not afford to retain amateur status, like they tried to do with athletics, the Olympics and golf too?

They did not refuse to accommodate state schools in their historical private schools competitions?

And England did not blame two rugby league guys, Burgess and Farrell for their failure to get out of the groups?

You mean, apart from that, it was nonsense.

The middle class, curtain twitching attitudes that led to the OBaF Act came from people citing Rugby as the superior sport played by superior people. I won’t kowtow to them

  12. Gerryfaethebrig on

Bhoy I went to school with (St Ambrose) was stiff as a brick tryin to kick a football but when it came to rugby he was in his element, said to me one day wee man you would be a magic winger at rugby, none of them would catch you ??? I was about 8stone soaking wet, my answer was what happens if one of those 16stonne bams catch me, ah you will be fine…….. Funnily enough I told him to stick his rugby ball where the sun didn’t shine……by the way it’s not even a blinking ball !

  13. Gftb I did indeed enjoy some of our football especially in the first half. Our passing and movement was quality. Ill skip the atrocious refereeing decisions. As the game wore on RD did his usual. He became over cautious and we ended up holding out for a 1-0 win. Celtic teams of yore would have scored 5 or 6 today. HH

Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan supports Oscar Knox, MacKenzie Furniss and anyone else who fights Neuroblastoma on 17th October 2015 9:47 pm –

Good post! The size and pace of the players is leading to hits on a new level and there has to be concerns at the long term health implications. Scrums have long been a concern particularly for younger age group rugby, on the other hand the game played as it was tonight is spectacular.

  15. Sftb compounding nonsense with even more nonsense is not helping your argument amigo. But I get your drift. HH

  16. If there wasn’t respect for the ref in rugby, it would be a 23 a side punch up.

Having said that, i would love to see Mourinho coach a rugby team.

Imagine the stunts he would pull.

  17. RC and leftclicktic thanks a million for that brings back some special memories – great year ’68 H H Hebcelt

  18. Never Watched Rugby in my life, but im Enjoying this World Cup, Especially since englund got put out, Love to say i feel their pain, but i Dont..Fk em..

  19. I think Celtic SHOULD send a letter to ST and Share holders. They should explain that they pursue many matters in private in relation to fan treatment with the police.

That they do the same with the SFA about referees.

They should also explain why they allow SKY and the DR to be anti Celtic ( the rest are not much better but these 2 are just blatant in your face hateful of all things Celtic ).

Until they do fans are justified in thinking they don’t care.

Sevco are DEFO finished. The running costs alone are slaughtering them, never mind all the other sh. That John James guy is good reading but his only solution for them is for someone wealthy to bail them out and bankroll them And HE’S CLEVER.

Anyway a win on Thursday and we can have a good season. Still need a player with some tricks in the hole role.

Keep The Faith and God bless Brother Walfrid.

My Celtic nemesis ……. Obviously only jesting, 2 pens Motherwell down to 10 maybe 9 if the first guy was already sent off, Commons off the bar, game opens up’ we could have scored plenty but 3pts is good enough for me’ hope that Ronny guys keeps doing what’s he is doing

I will be here for you to come back when you think we are not performing but glad you enjoyed some of the game today
