Motivations of Deans, his journo and others

267

You know what side of society you live in when the print and online media carry claims from former Hearts chairman, Leslie Deans, that a football game should be replayed because a player was hit by a missile.

It is to the credit of the player in question, Barrie McKay, that he made nothing of the cup thrown at him, but when we have seen actual assaults on Celtic players on the field at Ibrox in recent seasons pass with scarcely a mention, you see the context of life in Scotland.

Digging out these relics of a former era to make completely untrue allegations (that Celtic have not issued apologies) is the extent to which some will go to establish an impression that Celtic and their fans are dishonourable beneficiaries of illicit gains.  Before you get into it, all charges against solicitor Deans were dropped five years ago, there are no criminal charges outstanding.  His character remains as it was.

The motivation of Deans, the journalist who quoted him, or the many others who make a living by having a kick at Celtic, are different, but the effect is the same.  To win as we have in recent seasons, Celtic need to be exceptional.

    anyway

i dont think Higgins is getting appointed anyway

this whole thing is a smokescren and it is actually the Green Brigade drummer who is gettiing the job

which i will be delighted about if it shuts that drum up

though there would be many cops very qualified in drum playing to take over from him!!

  2. Guys,

Police Scotland is a single nationwide force set up by the Scottish ” Government ”

It does not swear an oath of loyalty to the crown. It is responsible to the Scottish Police Authority quango under direction of the Scottish ministers.

Higgins reported directly to the Scottish government ministers who instigated the OB act and demanded its subordinates to implement it.

Not depending Higgins, but behave and face reality.

I’d love to find video of naiscum’s tackle on johnny hayes and ask the minis of they think that match should be replayed.

Higgins reported directly to the Scottish government ministers who instigated the OB act and demanded its subordinates to implement it.

is it unusual for the senior police officer to report directly to politicians?

the head of the Met reports directly to the home secretary and the mayor, both of whom appoint them in the first place

and they police a much bigger population than the whole of scotland

this angle about the single scottish police force when there used to be regional forces is a bit of a red herring when it comes to how the police mistreat celtic fans,

whether it was a good idea or not is neither here nor there

were there still regional forces then i cant see how our treatment would be any better

in the end there would still be a senior cop reporting to the government one way or the other

    LADTH,

Not much of a coherent denial or counter argument there.

    i wasnt trying to

i was just pissing myself at Park The Bus saying the government hate Jesus

It’s relevant when considering how much influence and control a government has, and would seek to exert, over its police force in implementing its legislation.

And this was very much the SNP’s legislation. They were the only political party to support it.

  8. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    I blame the interweb.

“I / we have an opinion ergo I / we MUST be heard”

Ange (and all his predecessors this millennium) have said publicly the noise from the crowd benefits the team.

The Green Brigade make a lot of noise on match day (genuine compliment BTW).

Ergo, it logically follows that the noise from the GB benefits the team.

Ergo, it further logically follows, that noticeable silence from the GB will NOT benefit the team?

    For me this is simple.

In my lifetime of supporting our beloved club I’ve been hacked off at various times with players, coaches, managers, the board, individual directors, other Celtic fans, the police, stewards, guy selling food, the Celtic View, Celtic TV, Celtic Shop, ball boys, opposition players and management, media, the weather man, train drivers …

    … to name a few.

If you’re a fan you suck that all up on match day and SUPPORT THE TEAM…

… By doing the small bit you individually can to positively affect the outcome.

The Green Brigade play it emotive (which I actually respect) but I see little evidence they play it smart ?

What’s wrong with a silent 30-minute protest in the Celtic Way starting at 2:15pm?

  9. park the bus>blootir it>goal on

The tears of Stratton are because she was “grassed up” having a laugh about how they’d tell further lies to the public.

The last two years, have been like the last 70 years, filled with media lies.

If you want to stay sane, don’t listen to corporate msm.

Its so simple, and much better for your wellbeing.

Some amount of effort to show off your total lack of ambition.

As I said earlier, never mistake Positivity for believing it guarantees a successful outcome and, while you’re at it, don’t confuse Realism with negativity. You want to put me into two competing boxes – today I’m Eeyore, usually I’m dismissed as a Happy Clapper.

    Perhaps, the confusion is yours.

I often find that with people who dress themselves by putting on their shouty mouth before they apply their listening ears.

    —-

so to go along with that

would we really want such a weak individual in a senior position in our.club then?

someone who is scared.to speak up to his bosses and move in a direction they sew fit?

thats what they get paid the big bucks for and people in senior positions generally have a lot of freedom to shape set the direction

unless thats what the PLC see in him – a yes man

    that would make sense

but would be even more of a reason to oppose his appointment

which i dont think is on the table anyway

as far as i know the silent protests arent 3 line whips so feel free to give it plenty if you want to

  14. SFTB @ recent times

You have been a happy clapper for the board on quite a few occasions.

Now you seem to be Dr Doom telling us to stop having dreams.

To me it looks like more pro board trouser snakery.

Currently the board want us to have a shallow / joyless little life.

And they would have pulled it off if it were not for AP and his plans.

AP is out front fighting the fight.

The board are hiding away hoping the results don’t improve.

TFOD2.1 need next season’s CL money to survive.

The board need the TFOD2.1 to survive so that they can live of the OF pound.

  16. Bada Bing,

Just how does that help Celtic? It actually works against us.

Maybe the rules should be changed to the Butcher misses the next three games against us. ( Even if he is transferred)

    HH.

  17. SFTB @ Pedant Central

You are a pro board trouser snake who spends far too much time trying to educate the rest of us that we need to be happy with our lot and forget about dreaming of the CL and all such Euro nonsense.

Not sure if you are driven by ego and your supposed intellect or you are driven by some connection to the board or the G74 5** postcode.

    Growth is the future.
