Mourinho and pleasures delayed

For those who like their pleasure delayed, there is something wholesome in the wider awakening to the traits and abilities of Jose Mourinho.  The Portuguese inherited a squad at Porto in 2002 that would achieve great things there and elsewhere, notably against Celtic in Seville a year later, then against Monaco in 2004, but Mourinho’s principle contribution to results was his indulgence in the game’s dark arts.

Later in his career he would achieve while out-spending competitors, or by ‘parking the bus’ while still outspending most.  His temperament has always had a question mark over it.  Never has he won a league after his second at a club, by then, the impression of brilliance has always unravelled.

He made a barbed comment aimed broadly in the direction of Brendan Rodgers last week, although the Celtic manager was not mentioned, before picking on his own squad this week.  All will serve to divert attention from the fact that his spending is eye-watering and comparable to anywhere, but he will never get close to Manchester City.

I bought a bottle of Noe 30 in Madrid airport, about 30 years ago. Found the open bottle during a recent house move, about a tenth of it left. Thought I’d give it a wee taste to see if it had survived. Sensational. Like liquified raisins and prunes and Demerara sugar. Amazing stuff.

You are correct. The semi final against the rotten mob would be the perfect game to boycott. Imagine no Celtic fans in Hampden that day?

Golden Rule of life — Be comfortable in your own skin and point your boots in the direction you want to go.

Great story about the two guys turning up with the prayers all written out.

There are some wonderful people in this world and they are sometimes found in the most unlikely of places and circumstances.

    We should always remember that.

I hope you are well and walking forward.

I spent many happy years in White Street and could name just about everyone who stayed in the block right opposite St Peter’s Primary School at one time.

  6. Goooooooood Evening CQN

Some very powerful and personal posts today – wow, fantastic reading, and knowing you can share with your fellow Bhoys

    Hail Hail

TET, there was another reason S Clarke was taken out the running for Celtic role, I believe, I will drop you note

Now I will not set foot in Hamdump, until there is a clear out at FtSFA

And will not attend another a game against Sevco at Celtic Park, until our club treats them the same as any other club – they are NOT rangers, so do not deserve 7500 tickets for our ground

Hope our own ( another abstainer) Lionsroar67 is feeeling better

    FtSFA and Hail Hail

PS – just to think the gate receipts at under £20 a ticket on average is shared by the 4 clubs in the Semi Finals

Nae Luck Sevco if looking for a wee financial boost – haha haha hahahahahaha:-)))

  17. ACGR, did not make Mulu this time, ran out of time. Did Kuching and KL twice and of course Miri again. The youngest Bhoy went to Mulu with the Frau. Have booked Darjeeling for October, when I am back, seeing I like tea and mountain railways.

I used to like tractors but no longer do so. Does that make me an ex-tractor fan?

Hope you are good M. Was speaking about you earlier wi your namesake fae Swindon.. All good chat. Glad I am shite at topping myself too. Ma weans are looking after me. Poor weans. Hard shift. Are you up for a Coia munch pre Ross County match?

  19. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan on

Good to hear from you. I don’t recognise that surname – but then again I could be going further back in time than you. I am talking late 60’s and early 70’s.

  20. ACGR, my Bhoy came back to Dundee for a week so that he could go to the Paddy‘s Day celebration at the Uni. Unfortunately I didn’t see much of him as I was in Rome. He‘d been looking so forward to his year in Finland but his parting words this morning were “I wish I wasn’t going back.“ Well I told him he’ll be back in 6 weeks.

  21. Delaneys Dunky on

If you want a season ticket next season you will be accomodated. Don’t believe the Celtic shite. There is no waiting list. It is a marketing tool. If I am wrong? You can have my seat G.

  22. BRTH,

I will be in touch with you this week regarding my two guests for the do on the 25th May. Been travelling a lot recently and need to chill. Will there be a vegetarian/vegan option available as one of the guests cannot eat meat or fish – my Bhoy? Not through choice but through genetics, he can’t eat eggs either, lol.

  23. BRTH

late 50’s early 60’s – my grandad lived there – think it was first close on the left on the other side of hyndland st
