Moussa, forget Ibrox, concentrate on trip to Brussels

226

We have a lot of football to play between now and our visit to Ibrox in just over two weeks, but perhaps the most important game of the month comes immediately after that match, in Brussels against Anderlecht. Moussa Dembele declaring himself ready to face a team he spent last season punishing in ruthless fashion is welcome, but without being disrespectful to our domestic opponents, a point in Brussels is far more valuable than a win at Ibrox.

Three games, against Hamilton Accies, Ross County and Dundee, stand out as opportunities to get Moussa and Odsonne Edouard match-fit Brussels. We have the opportunity to bury a weak-willed performance there in 2003, when Larsson, Sutton, Hartson etc. went down meekly to 10 men.

The PSG game will take care of itself. We have a punchers chance against an outrageously (and, some allege, illegally) acquired football team. I’ll take our chances against anyone at home, but if we can’t perform in Brussels, nothing we do against PSG will matter.

NEW CQN PODCAST OUT NOW – LISTEN BELOW

In this week’s Centenary Special, Paul John Dykes speaks to Republic of Ireland internationalist, Chris Morris, about his Celtic career, what the club means to him, and the part he played in introducing ‘The Fields of Athenry’ to the Celtic fans’ songbook.

  1. Rangers players can help Scotland by

    …. counting the bibs

    …. taking out cones

….. boosting 1st confidence by playing them in a bounce game

Surely not even the dumbest of the dumb is taking this horseshit anymore

Biggest help would be if they played for Slovenia or Slovakia.

Was impressed by Slovakia against England – they all looked comfortable on the ball with the notable exception of Weiss – he was mince.

  4. We are going behind the scenes on Friday evening with BT Sport at Hamilton. Paul Dykes will be with me and we will be doing a podcast.

We have been promised a chance to chat to the pundits, Chris Sutton and Ally McCoist.

    Should be entertaining.

  5. Thanks FRIESDORFER, but Mr Google says you’re about 106Km away on the North coast of Crete – I’ll be in the south east !!

  6. A wee update for those going to Munich.

Both of my contacts tell me the game is a sell out with no sign of spare tickets. I hope the Munich Bürgermeister gets wind of how many Celtic fans are going to his city and organises a fan zone with bratwurst and beer stalls and a couple of large screens.

    Just been reading back.

The guy who is in that story and owns Speedy Dentures has been working illegally for decades, as only a qualified clinician can put their hands in a patients mouth to perform any form of dentistry. Most of the dental profession in and around Glasgow knew what he was doing.

This is a warning shot across the bows of those providing tooth bleaching who are not qualified to do so.

In a similar vein you should only use a proctologist if you want that sort of service ;-)

BTW most people who come to see me leave looking like Methadone Mick. :-)))

  10. Bada Bing,

Many of us have had a right good laugh at McCoist over the years, but we should be civil to him. If only to respect the trust and faith that the Burns family put in him.

Anyway , maybe the podcast will be discussing winter preparations for urban gardens.

I know some of talk a bit of crap on CQN, but that is a bit literal… or have things really gotten that bad with the NHS?

He and Smith also attended the funeral of Sean Fallon.

None the less, I`m not too fond of either .

re: sally … I dont see that being polite and asking tough, but fair, questions are mutually exclusive … I say ask away. Inquiring minds want to know. And even if they dont, I do!

I have always wondered why NFL has not publicly discussed this. Maybe feels like he would not have been hired at Hibs had he stirred up too much crap? I’m only speculating….

  14. McCoist, F’N McCoist?

Thank Feck I don’t listen to ANY podcasts but????

Ask him about his goal celebrations against us? Did he constantly have a KNEE injury, was blood leaking out?????

Ask him about 1994, eh, it’s none of our business but, it is funny looking on! Oh Feckin Really?

A hard day at the orifice.

  16. Spending this “International Week”on a wee break in Dublin, been on a number of occasions in the past, but always by air and then walkabout in the city.

This time I done Cairnryan,Belfast,Dublin by car,Jeezo,a whole different world !!

Dublin a nightmare for the un-initiated,must have broken every traffic code in the book, with bus lanes, cycleways ,tram only streets, one way streets, permanent loop round St.Stephens Green, drove past my accomodation (unknowingly) at 9:00am,got there at 1:pm,I pride myself with built-in GPS senses, crestfallen, the wife thinks i need anger management due to road rage.

the car hasn`t moved until today, when we drove to Bray for a great time on the seafront chilled out big time!!.

Oanyways, the Cellick game got moved to the Friday night tv slot.which torpedoed my carefully arranged timetable and now I`m looking for a friendly pub in Belfast on Friday, within striking distance of Belfast Docks for a ferry which departs at 23;30,

I cant remember the pubs mentioned in the past, anybody??

    MIT,

I don’t think you would want a proctologist bleaching your teeth, you don’t know where his hands have been :-))

    **

    Pog,

this is one of those rare cases where I think knowing where his hands have been is just as bad as not knowing …

    :)

Shuggie … you should have waited a week to go … we could have said hello!

  18. I see a wee bit of the long-term attitude in this Celtic squad and management.

What I mean is there is no-one imminently agitating for a transfer.

With that I think there is a 4 year plan with these players.

We have no relationship either way with PSG ( 2nd best away team I ever seen in Paradise in, 1995, rite enuf ).

For that reason and the fact I feel an inner confidence with this team of ours, and I honestly believe the noisiest ever paradise in history, I honestly think we will win.

After that the momentum and the Spirit of Lisbon will see us to the final,

Celtic minus 2 is 33-1 on Tuesday.

    HH

PS- Apologies to my pal KevJ— Haste ye back
