Moussa’s violation

632

When the players arrived at Lennoxtown for training yesterday morning, Brendan Rodgers had no intention of allowing Moussa Dembele to leave the club.  Such was the player’s behaviour over the following two hours, the manager’s view changed to “Get him out of here.”

Yet again, the days ahead of an important game were clouded by distraction, but this time it took the form of insubordination against the manager.  Brendan’s view changed from not wanting to be left with only two strikers, to insisting the player was shipped out of the club.

One photographer, there for the press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game, told the manager, “I’ve been doing this for 30 years and never seen behaviour like that.”

You and I have seen many come and go over the years, so losing one is nothing new.  Receiving £20m also breaks a barrier in what we can ask for our players in the future, but the manner which this came about is a source of regret.  Moussa is a great player, one who delivered for us when it mattered most.  His goals and swagger were a joy to watch.  Now, the memory of his achievements have been violated by his behaviour.  Having a go at the manager on Twitter, where he talked about being lied to (utter rubbish) and ‘Liked’ a comment from Chris Sutton saying he was targeting Brendan, all while playing to “Bhoys and Ghirls” is deplorable. I’ll get over it and applaud politely when you do the Paradise Windfall 15 years from now, but we’re not buying it, Moussa.

Lots to say on the transfer window, but I’ll pick up on it more next week.  We have a game tomorrow against an outfit who think they can win the league.  This is a day for Brendan and Scott Brown, Dedryck, Kieran, Callum, Tom and the others to do what they do so often against Newco.  It’s a day for you and me to lift the team and paint Glasgow green and white.

Last month was traumatic, but it was also cathartic.  We are a united club with a bit of an edge right now.  Do your thing, Celtic.  Spank this lot one more time.

There are to many of our players out for prolonged periods.

Should we sell anyone who does not appear at least 80% of the time?

Both our remaining strikers have been absent plenty through injury.

There is something troubling at the amount of manpower we have through the treatment room.

Is our training regimen an issue, are our medical and physio staff staff just crap?

The way refs allow our opponents to hammer us does not help but our issues are wider.

Won the league that day Joe, my Auld mhan said I was 2 young to go to that game, ffs I was 6 what was he thinking ?

  4. I thought the Oz coach said Rogic has a problem behind his knee that is causing a problem with his hamstring, I could be wrong though, I am glad Dembele is away and he has left in a bad way with the support, he was seldom fit anyway and 20m is a huge amount of cash providing the manager gets to spend this on the team, I really do hope there is a critical analysis of what is happening in the scouting and signing of players as this window has shown us to be woefully unprepared to get our targets in, I would change the Head of Recruitment now and I hope DD has a meeting scheduled with his CEO and Football Team Manager because if these two are not working together for the betterment of the club, it’s goodbye. The CEO will be due plenty from his Long Term Investment Plan though.

  7. Dembele said: “I was determined to come to Lyon, this is the option I wanted. But Celtic needed a replacement, well that’s the excuse they gave me.

“We tried to find a solution, we did not succeed. But I was determined to come to Lyon and I let my bosses know and they gave in to let me go.”

    Fits with Paul’s article

How many games have Stephen Gerrards Rangers won ? from what I can see they have drawn more than they have won. I think if we can match them for enthusism and will to win we will come out on top. I am also looking forward to seeing what team Brendan puts out will any of the new Bhoys make there debut. H.H.

So, where do we stand this morning after that window?

*while I agree with most of what you say I must question the following:

“Midfield-wise, we lost out on our top target, McGinn, a natural replacement for Brown and future captain-for-life. This transfer collapsed due to our arrogant low-balling of Hibs, and our complete failure to anticipate other clubs being interested in him. A real amateur hour fiasco and a mistake which I believe we will be talking about for years to come.”

*As far as I can see not so, there wisnae a chance that wee scheitd putrid or dumpster would sell tae us, he has a history there, only the strong willed WGS and Broonie, 2 real hibbees, thwarted one of his attempts, the best 5m we will ever spend for the latter.

Incidentally, like his ceo he was never a hibbee fan and only got appointed tae the board after as managing director of investment bank Quayle Munro advising good guy Tom Farmer, a supporter of the international development charity Mary’s Meals, in his his rescue of the club from receivership in 1991.

BTW Jock was after a few Hibs players after he left them including Peter Cormack, the only one he got was Pat Stanton in the twilight of hi career after he fell out with turnbull and Dixe Deans signed on a Saturday night was NOT Jock’s first choice, that was Drew Jarvie but there was no way that shower at broomfield would sell him tae us.

  14. Looks like McGinn might be having dinner with a new Manager sooner than he thought.

A bit of homesickness and he will be doing a Moussa to force through a move in the January window.

  15. We had to let Moussa go. Great player but AWOL for big chunks of any season. If he had stayed he’d have done another Bobo

The toxic tendency on here will welcome this news as further evidence of failure but, then again, they are quite unrepresentative of the Celtic support. I used to recommend this site to friends but they were put off by the hate mongers. That’s a pity because there’s a lot of good stuff and a lot of good people on here.

    FAN-A-TIC @ 12.31

I disagree, you’ll not be surprised to learn. I’ve spoken with a lot of Celtic fans today at work and elsewhere, anger is for the internet, perfect for venting there were only so many letters of complaint that could get printed in the Celtic view in 1964

*excellent post, there’s too many on here think they speak for Celtic supporters, they don’t. Hate tae be pedantic but the view didnae come out until 1965.

Incidentally the day it came out I was walking through the Renton when I met a former-Tradamus Lampada, he asked if I had bought it, before I had a chance tae tell him he then related about a “good” Tim fae Dumbarton that said it was a lot of scheitd, even back then amidst the euphoria of Big Jock and our first trophy in 8 years there were moaners.

  18. Big Stevie Clarke dizny wear a mibbery muzzle, no chance of him getting the Celtic job, when Brendan’s dismal European performances continue, and they will.

My dad God rest him, would not buy the Celtic View. He called it Robert Kelly propaganda.

He did buy Morning Star though. :))

  22. As someone who thinks the Willo Window explanation for a lost league is a Myth, I , nonetheless, accept that this transfer window has been very poor.

It is not just the loss of Moussa- we can survive that. It is more to do with being left with 2 inconsistently fit strikers for the next 4 months. Jack Aitchison’s loan approval could and should have been left until the last second of the window. He could have, at the very least, provided last 20 minute relief for our injury-risk strikers in those games where we were well ahead. At best, he could have been given a breakthrough chance.

But, worst of all, is the pall of rancour and disagreement that exists within the club. We are rivalling Mourinho’s Man U in the matter of having a bad smell hanging over the club. Of course results can change our mood but it cannot change the overall assesment that this summer has been a very bad spell for Celtic.

As for results turning it round, there is Good News and there is Bad News.

The Bad News is that we play Sevco tomorrow. A resurgent team with a feel good factor. A team that qualified for EL with a good defensive record and survived in Russia with only 9 men. They will really fancy their chances and will not settle for a park the bus approach to the game.

    The Good News is……………

we play Sevco tomorrow. A perfect fixture for focusing minds- both amongst the team and the fans. I doubt we will indulge in booing and self-harming behaviour when we face the newly-established traditional enemy. Of course, if we go a few goals down, that will change but I think the fans will go with the intent and desire to support, regardless of our off the field failures. And, if they do adopt an aggresive non-park-the-bus approach, it will play into our strengths.

We want to put them back in their box.

We still have enough good players to do so.

And I confidently predict that Mikel Lustig, hunskelper, will play. We cannot risk Gamboa in opposition to Laffert- we have seen that movie too many times (Parlane, Johnstone and Hately peeling of to outjump our RB on deep crosses- seared in my memory- they are.

2-0 to the good guys (Ollie to score first) BUT……..

If we lose or drop points, please spare me the post that tries to argue that they told us so and we were all too complacent.

That is another Celtic Myth- and a self-serving one to boot.

  23. BMCUWP. I’m having same issues.
