Mouyokolo and the Perrier-Doumbe path to immortality

768

Steven Mouyokolo’s last two permanent contracts were for clubs playing Premier League football in England but after joining Hull City as a 22-year-old and making 21 appearances in their relegation season, his move to Wolves bombed amid a multitude of injuries.  The player has made four appearances for Wolves and four for Sochaux in the last three years.

He no longer has the profile which would be considered in the English Premier League; which is why he’s pitched up in Scotland.  If his knee passes a medical this week, he’ll become the latest 6’3” defender on the Celtic books, competition for Kelvin, Virgil, Charlie, Efe and the rest.

Competition is good but Steven’s chances of edging out the competition to become a first team regular must be considered slight with his injury record, whether he passes the medical or not.  It’s more likely he’ll follow the path of Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe, although Champions League football and a Cup Final winner is not a bad return.

O’Dea have several years to establish himself, never did work out, same can be said for rogne. does not make either of them bad players does not make them good enough for celtic either. neither were shamefully overlooked, there are many good young players overlooked when they have the ability, that is the nature if football. o’dea is lucky in that he actually got to make a good living out of the game and got to pull on the hoops.

IMO, Dungcaster was easily the more preferable of the two. I thought in his interview on SSB last season, he came across as a generally genuine guy, and I felt that he answered everything put to him very convincingly!

    ——————————————————————————————————-

I wouldn’t trust either of them to wash my car.

Doncaster genuine??? The guy who replaced the Sky contract (which had three years left to run) with a new one which was based on having four “old firm” games a season AFTER Whyte had told him Rangers were insolvent?

The guy was clearly hell-bent on trying to get them in the SPL.

aye, maybe the new centre backs fit better with NFL’s football philosophy. seems he wants us to be playing more on the floor and picking out passes from the back, and he wants lots of physic throughout the team. all of which requires the right type of players.

MON rarely bought a player who would not fit into the way he wanted his team to play. buying players that fit rather than buying ability and trying to get it to fit into the team.

inho the more NFL’s teams evolves the more we are seeing the influence of MON, no bad thing

Neil and the Bhoys had a successful season last season and have set quite a high bar for this season, we all watched the highs and the lows of the games and I’m sure Neill will be looking for more overall consistency this time around.

We’ve added to the squad and until now haven’t lost any first team players, I would love this team to grow together but modren fitbaw being what it is maybe that’s a pipe dream. It’s a good place for the Bhoys to be trying to better the last 16 of the CL, what a target to be at after a few years of Neil’s reign…

My dearly departed oldest sister (Irene) was a downs person.

    She was also Celtic daft.

She also liked to sing in her local bowling club in Denbeath , Fife.

Anything by Daniel O’Donnell or the Alexander brothers.

Her party piece was ” I’m nobody’s child”.

I still can’t her that tune without having tears in my eye’s and a lump in my throat.

May your friend Jim rest in piece for he was already selected and chosen as a special individual.

My Auld mum used to say that Irene had been blessed.

She never knew a worry , and laughed like a cackling child all her life.

They are both in very good company and probably singing right now(:-)
