“Mr Flanagan” has his court name reprised

176

I read Newco’s statement last night with a meme, “She’s turned the SFA Review Panel against me” buzzing around my head.  Jon Flanagan was offered a retrospective two match ban for elbowing Scott Brown in the face.  The panel reviewed video involving Jozo Simunovic and Jermaine Defoe and found there to be no case to answer.

The resulting Newco statement referred to Flanagan as “Mr Flanagan”, his court name (yes, he has form), as the club promised to “vigorously defend” their client, sorry, player.

All of this is calculated to inhibit the SFA Review Panel from curtailing future transgressions by Newco players.  The club have a dreadful disciplinary record this season, and instead of reflective consideration, they clearly have no intentions of curtailing physical assaults on opponents and would prefer to attack those who hold them to account.

All a bit sinister, but when you have nothing but bluster and indignation in your trophy cabinet, it is better to have a jaked up loon leading the charge.

The hospitality auction for Celtic FC Foundation, courtesy of Intelligent Car Leasing, closes shortly after noon today (Wednesday).  You can keep an eye on it here.

On behalf of the many recipients of the work of the Foundation, thank you!

I did not take it as a dig. I just thought you might have mistaken Peter Houston’s views for mine. Happy to see that you had a bit more inside info than I had.

I don’t normally get excited by matches not involving Celtic but the pace of that match was very impressive. Bielsa, who is seen as a modern progressive coach, lost out to the rookie Lampard- maybe it’s the backroom coaching from Chris Jones that made them so impressive.

Efe Ambrose can’t make the match day squad at Derby.

  2. I find it sickening the vitriol being directed at Neil Lennon from some Celtic supporters on the Internet.

For what I do not know.

All he did was step into the breach and ensure the club secured the title, and steered the team to the cup final.

Even notice they now constantly reference a Celtic legend – Lennon this and Lennon that.

At least show some respect for what the man has achieved, regardless of how you rate him as a manager.

CQN is relatively tame compared to some of the lies and unfounded rumours on that Twitter – Neil let’s the players go drinking whenever they feel like it for example.

They are demanding a Mourinho or Benitez for crying out loud!

Jose Mourinho whom spent Celtic’s yearly turnover on one player, yet complained that he didn’t get enough to spend whilst at MUFC.

    Deluded.

    Indulged.

  3. Unfortunately, apart from our game @ Grayskull; this last 10 days or so has produced some of the best live games on TV.

Entertainment makes football sooooooo much more attractive.

Thank the proverbial Lord, or whoever, that t’internet was not about when The Lions ruled the world.

Enjoyed the English semi final play off matches, lots of talented players on show. I’d say both teams would be looking for 8m+ for nearly all their young players.

There is an ex-Championship player striker currently playing in Spain for Girona, who are all but relegated. Cristian Stuani, ex Middlesbrough, 40 goals in 65 games for Girona and wouldnt cost a fortune. May be worth a look.

  7. morning bhoys from another lovely Cheshire day. scaniel, how are the animals keeping.hh.

  8. If Neil Lennon is not to get the managers post…then Celtic surely should consider Michael Caine ?

He did a good job against those nasty Nazi’s as Player/Manager in “Escape to Victory”.

Surely, he would do an excellent job against those Goven Nazi’s ?

I was thinking that Celtic have never had a Player/manager before…and then I remembered Liam Brady.

HH…….( Thats not Hiel Hitl…) LOL

  9. Good morning, friends, one last day in the paradise that has been Benalmadena, an area of Spain where clouds have been banned completely. Apart from my trips to Turkey this has been my first ever 100% (so far!) wall to wall sunshine.

Another thought on the permanent manager post- it would surely be ludicrous to announce any new manager until May 26th (caveat – unless it is Neil). Equally, any remaining uncertainty beyond the end of May would be very disappointing. We have had 3 months at least to do all the necessary planning. Not sure how long a break the players will get but when they return it must be with the certainty of who is then in charge.

    No chance.

He was originally offered the part of Liam Devlin in The Eagle Has Landed but refused as he didn’t want to play the part of an IRA man. He preferred to play a German officer (albeit a non Nazi one).

Not a lot of people know that.
