We can debate which result last night would have been best for Celtic’s chances of winning the league was, although we don’t have enough information to answer the question completely yet. Forward projections is a different story.
Win or lose the league, Celtic will remain solvent without a drastic cut to expenditure, as will Hearts. Not so much Newco. Winning the league would almost certainly see them progress to the Champions League proper without having to go through qualification (the same is not true for Celtic and Hearts). For an organisation which has been subsidised by loans and capital injections practically every year since its inception, that would be a rare respite.
Losing the league means their current budget is unsustainable. That will have an impact on what happens next season and beyond. Last night’s Hearts win will have multi-season consequences.

Those welcoming yesterday’s result because ‘Rangers are now out of it’, overlook a rather salient fact. Given how few goals we’re scoring, it is entirely possible that Hearts can lose to Motherwell and then lose to Falkirk and, despite us winning our next two matches, Hearts can still win the league with a narrow win at Celtic Park.
We need to rediscover the “Regulation 5-0 win”. Or even change the regulation to a 3-0 win.
Seems Welsh is ref on Sunday with Beathun on VAR. If so, neither should be anywhere near this game.

If only we had Kwon
Unless one of us is on their board then we’ve no idea of what the sustainability of their budget is.
There could very well be more equity releases and more money ploughed into them.
It doesn’t make much financial sense to me but it doesn’t have to.
So unless we know what the appetite actually is for more hun cash injections by their new owners, we can’t speak about their budgets with much confidence.
If Hearts lose to Falkirk and then lose to Motherwell there isn’t a snowball’s chance in Hell that they’ll come to Celtic Park and get a narrow win. They’d be absolutely desolate and their confidence would be in tatters if they lost their next two games.
Why do people torture themselves with these highly unlikely scenarios. One game at a time. Huns up next. Focus on winning that.
Hail! Hail!

Been weighing up the negatives of short-term disappointment against the positives of long-term transformation.
Still want to win it, but if we do have to loose a league to bring the wind of change., maybe that the best outcome?
Nah…still want to win it.
Hertz fans full of bluster last night, going to win the league, only 3 to go!
I reminded one of them, who has had his gob shut until last night, that they are the only team to lose by goal average and also goal difference. However a unique treble awaits if you lose to us on ….most goals scored. Gob shut!
The Battered Bunnet @ 12:01 pm,
Well, that’s an eye opener…
Also…
If Hearts win against Motherwell and Hibs have beaten Falkirk earlier in the day – we are in a tough spot the pressure is on us at the Glasgow Derby.
R2ngers will really want/need!? To beat us…
Motherwell will need points before they face Hibs on the last game of the season otherwise Hibs could leap over them with a win.
Hearts will really want/need!? To beat us…
Tough few weeks, however, what I really want to know…
Whit are the R2ngers dae’n!?
Hail Hail

This ia achieved with possession football. Celtic supporters complained loudly that keep ball horseshoe fitba is not for them.
allegedly ITS BORING.
we have only won in the league 4 games by a 3 goal margin.
last season it was – 19 games including 3-0 v Rangers and Hearts.
I hate them high scoring record goal difference seasons, all they do is win the leagues in april. boring it was.
Last night on social media Hearts fans were celebrating that the job is done. Fans of Celtic (!), Rangers, Aberdeen, Dundee, Burnley, Wolves, Sunderland, Newcastle were congratulating them on winning the League. Everybody knows that we’re still in it. Someone on here posted that their probability is now 75% and the bookies have them as clear favourites. That’s with three games left to play, two of them away, including a visit to Celtic Park with 60000 Home supporters in attendance and about 500+ Hearts fans.
Can anyone imagine what would happen to the probability, the bookies odds and the wishes of those fans from around the UK if Hearts were to lose those next to games?????
Would you like Celtic to win the league

Surely the difference in budgets between us mean Hearts can’t win the league? That’s how football works according to our board

Hearts are in a good position, no question. Sky Sports calling them ‘Champions elect’ last night is however way premature. It’s almost as if they are desperate for Celtic not to win the league. I noticed quite a few on here yesterday had also thrown in the towel.
We have to win all our 3 games – nothing has changed since we beat Hibs. Nothing will change regardless of how anyone else does from here on in. Hearts have been battling for wins in each of their last few games. Good fighting spirit, but they are running out of gas. Add the pressure of being ‘Champions elect’ and it all leans to them dropping a point or 2. We might have to beat Hearts 2-0 on the final day. That’s a 4 goal swing in the all important GD column. Probably would be enough to secure it.
Celtic are the team coming into decent form. It’s been tough to watch but it’s coming good. I can sense another Albert Kidd type day at Parkhead in front of 60,000 fans on the final day. Most on here will be delighted.

Yer a cruel mhan….
I’m still elated that the huns are out of it. I desperately want us to win it now but can live with Hearts winning it. The huns winning it would have been a disaster.
The feckless fecks in the boardroom have lucked out again.

Correct AT. It’s all about having faith in your team. Why spend time dreaming up scenarios involving other teams that will deprive us of the league title.
Be positive and get behind the Celtic.

Very unAlberto yesterday…
Still, sets us up nicely for the finale…

you cant, it is 2 or 3.
there are more permatations that mean it doesnt go to goal difference than does,

Sensing a wee bit of a worry that Celtic might actually win the league this season.
Hopefully this will become serious concern after Sunday and you can head back to wherever you hide when Celtic is winning leagues.

How exactly can Hibs catch Motherwell ? 6 points gap and a trip to Ibrox for Hibs with inferior goal difference. And a trip to Falkirk who might also catch them. Desperate stuff.
Paul 67,
If the huns downsize will our expenditure take the same travel path.?
At the end of the day all we really care about is how we perform.
Are we optimising our resources? Most definitely not.
Every domestic home game we should be playing two upfront.
Entertaining attacking football is the Celtic way. Tippy tappy football is done. Surely we can all see that.
HH.
Within touching distance of another old firm championship! The national one looks a real stretch now – likely to require winning our last three games by 2+ goals each. But that’s small fry anyway – the old firm title is the big one – the one with the bragging rights.
I see that, although Hearts still have their +5 GD advantage over us we still have scored more goals than them, though our +4 has now reduced to +2. It still could be of great importance to us though on the last day.

The week before Albert Kidd sank them, the msm papers were full of them being champions elect. Wee Ronnie Corbett in a centrefold wearing a Hearts strip. A glorious ending, of course and great memories of that day at Love Street.

I remember they beat Dundee Utd at Tannadice a couple of weeks before the last game. Everybody had them winning the League. Alex Cameron wrote in the Daily Record, “Wrap up the flag and give it to them now!”
Premature ejaculation then, premature ejaculation now. H.H. 🍀
Math not your strong point Hoochmon.
Hearts could easily beat Falkirk by three. Winning on GD is a LONG shot. If they get past Motherwell it’s pretty much done.
Both last night’s teams are bang average.
A well run club with superior resources & folk who know what a fitba player resembles should overcome them without much trouble.
This title is like a competition to see who’s the most sparkly jobby.
Yet i’m desperate to win it. And still think we will. Fitba makes ye mad.
Get Scratchy in the team, ffs! 🍀
As I see it, we, the supporters, the manager, the players, deserve to win the league, no doubt in my mind.
However sadly, the board most certainly do not, and that is utterly on their heads, no one else to blame.
And if we fail to win it, then there is no doubt ALL the board should go. But if we do fail, it will be our fault, the players and MON and maybe Brendan, no theirs surely, of course no way.
that’s it

GLASSTWOTHIRDSEMPTY. Only joking but seriously why do this to yourself? Celtic could have another St. Mirren moment and score 4 goals inside 6 minutes against Motherwell.
