Murray’s ego surely not this dysfunctional?

272

The most interesting thing about news (cough) that David Murray is considering investing in Newco Rangers, is that the club, chaired by Dave King, is in such a dark place that it will countenance doing business with a man King has so publicly vilified.

You can imagine a whole list of people they would rather approach for money before getting to Zsa Zsa himself.  You now know all you need to know about the response they got from those more palatable than Murray.

My principle concern at this story is that Dave King’s enormously important work at Ibrox will soon come to an end.  It is difficult to overstate how important King has been to the corporate health of this football club.  From the club’s inception in June 2012 he campaigned relentlessly to usurp several iterations of owners, invoking internecine strife at the heart of the club.

Now, three years after taking control, the harsh realities of what he has done and what lies ahead – having to compete with Celtic and what will be close to a £100m turnover, with a club that will turnover in the region of £30m this season, will be evident.  Even to King!

Due to his past form, David Murray will not get near an official position at Newco, but things can happen in the shadows.  It is not beyond the possibility that he will find a few million of conscience money, but for all I think of Murray’s ego, it is surely not dysfunctional enough to see him move into this firing line.  Surely?

“Long live the King!”  Oh how we laughed.

Excellent summaries by Mahe @ 4:46 and Auldheid @ 4:52….

As Auldheid says, we always suspected we were cheated, but now we KNOW.

For me, when we cut through all the crap, Auldheid sums it all up in his last sentence:

“it should just be a matter of Celtic doing the right thing.”

When the huns were in their death throes, I was always of the opinion that Whyte was a patsy and what you posted earlier was the planed outcome, to dump well over 100 mill of debt is no mean feat, there has to be a sacrifice or two along the way, they have managed to dump the debt without if the truth be known too much bother, the media, the judiciary by and large, the football brokers at home and abroad have bent over to accomodate them, the tenticals sure do reach far and wide.

Such a shame that our version fights with each other all the time, just imagine where we could be if we were together.

You said earleir that if DD knew they were cheating he would do something about it, I must have missed something but didn’t the highest court in the land tell the world they cheated all of scottish football and especially Celtic, that is proof positive imo.

My integrity is intact; I respect your stance but don’t agree with it. I don’t endorse the songs of hate, the honest mistakes and the biased SMSM. They will happen and will continue to do so, not because of Celtic, our support or our PLC; but because of the sense of entitlement “they” have in this country. Only a sea change will remove that.

Until that happens, I will still choose to support my club even in this rigged game.

    AULDHEID on 8TH MARCH 2018 4:52 PM

I knew and I suspect you knew too. As did thousands (if not millions) of others. The recent ability to document that evidence just verifies it.

My feeling is that Celtic are striving to do the right thing, but as you know they are constricted by the way Scottish football is run. I don’t have as much knowledge of what is happening as you do, but I suspect that they are pushing in the background; time alone will tell.

As far as what happens with another ill-gotten 9 in a row, I will continue to support Celtic as I did during the last ill-gotten 9 IAR, though I suspect I will be well gone by the time the current (or next) club playing out of Govan ever achieves that.

In the meantime, I am enjoying the good times because they don’t always last forever! Alongside that, I hope and pray that Celtic are working away in the background and are and will continue to do the right thing!

  6. Those of us who still go to games know we have been cheated but we still are able to triumph over the dark forces in Scotland because of our support. We support our club in large numbers home and away, when Fergus asked us to invest our money in shares, we did that in thousands, not for financial returns but for emotional returns. We shared Brother Walfrid’s aims and we continue to support the Celtic Foundation and other charities every week. We support the Green Brigades collections for Palestine and for the food banks. We still sing the songs of Rebellion and we support the Irish struggle in songs and deeds.

We know the MSM is against us as is the Football establishment in Scotland. When referees cheated us, then Big Jock told his players to take matters out of their hands and that they can’t chalk off every goal. We know that they lie to us but they don’t fool us into thinking it’s true. You will never hear a Celtic fan say it must be true ,its in the paper. Rather the opposite

We have faced the biggest cheating in any league short of the match fixing in Italy and you know what, we are still winning. We are just out of a record unbeaten run and on the way to back to back trebles.

Dr Joseph Venglos came to be our manager and this Veteran of football in 11 countries who is one of FIFA’s top Technical experts, told people he was astonished that the local Press were hostile to Celtic. He knew of no other example of a local press being against a local team. The Liverpool Echo reports on both Liverpool and Everton with equal interests.

We have attracted admirers from other European clubs who get our ethos and like St Paulli torn out and support us. Villareal, Dortmund etc have a number of Celtic admirers.

We don’t accept what we are told and what happens but struggle against this infamy.

The Rangers cheating and Sevco cheating will not be accepted and we can continue to overcome them due to the depth of our support. We will rail against injustice and confront the lies when they are presented.

Barcelona claim to be more than a club and we are too.

Press on and a hard won victory is always sweeter that one that was handed on a plate

Celtic acted pretty quickly in July 2017 after the Supreme Court ruling and were basically told to FO by the SFA although the latter did concede the CO investigation.

That is still ongoing and Celtic are keeping an eye on it for a very good reason. It’s a gunpowder trail.

As explained on yesterday’s blog by Big Bhoy (?) Celtic are constrained by due process but that does not mean not using it.

In fact the outcome should strengthen Celtic’s hand and I have reason to believe DD is well up to speed.

Have a good look and by that I mean with an open mind, at the exchanges between Celtic and SFA from July to September posted on Celtic Web site.

Some really interesting stuff in there that supports letting the CO investigation run its course.

  11. If Celtic hadn’t pushed the issue i don’t think the UEFA Licence issue would have made it onto the Compliance Officers desk. Lets face it the SFA nor any other Club will have pushed for an investigation. The fact is has taken 6 months and not a peep as yet tells me the SFA are having trouble putting a lid on it. I have good faith that Celtic have pushed for an update and will review the outcome whenever the review is completed. Someone very senior at Celtic described the new evidence from the Craig Whyte trial to me as a ‘game changer’. I don’t know if Celtic will do the right thing but i have good reason to believe they are watching events closely. With what intent, if any, remains to be seen.

  14. If Derk Boerrigter could persuade Murtinho to sign him his career would not only be saved but would skyrocket.

He could dive with impunity and every time he pulled the old tripping over his own feet trick the ref would use the Laudrap rule book to award him a free kick.

Would only be a matter of time before Real Madrid or a Chinese club would come in with a 50 million pound bid.

I will have a look see later, I always read things with an open mind no matter my default position :-)

You will have to forgive me but I keep reading and hearing that things are ongoing etc, am just not seeing any evidence of bringing anyone to account, it’s getting worse in reality, they have appointed a tax cheat as head of football operations FFS.

But Celtic didn’t do the right thing when Ronnie emptied the park did they, they just used some of the hoarded money to hire Brendan.

I doubt they will do the right thing come what may, the right thing being standing against the cheating and the corruption, all they will do is join it, so mi amigo, what is the point ?

  17. Mahe, So much in your post to me, I don’t know where to start.

I’ll just stick to the part of where you personalise it and ask me about looking in the mirror etc.

Apart from the extra wrinkles etc I have no problem looking in the mirror and yes I believe my integrity is intact.

I’ve had a lifetime of involvement in struggles far more important than football & I can tell you if you allow rage & indignation to constantly dictate your mood & actions it will destroy your life.

One needs to compartmentalise their emotions and in my opinion it is reasonable to be angry at the SFA etc & indeed the Celtic Board whilst still being 100% supportive of the Club & the team.

Lots of emotional words are bandied around here about collusion & betrayal by the Board, and yes the Board do operate on a different set of Principles to the Supporters and that is as it should be.

Their approach is more pragmatic & they are more constrained by what they can say or do.

Yes the Celtic Board, could start issuing Statements & playing to the Gallery as King & Traynor have done but what would that really achieve.

I long for the day when we could get out of Scotland & play in a European League and I believe it will happen but in the meantime we have no option but to play in the SPFL.

Accordingly as long as this remains the case, I want to see a well managed prosperous Club, with a dominant team ram their bigotry & cheating down their throats.

To me every victory & trophy is all the sweeter given the History of what we have to endure, our revenge is definitely the laughter of our Children.

Problem is Res 12 is but a small part of what has gone on before, the BTC should have been the trigger that Pedro has always asked for, add in the illegal registration of players for ten years at least, the 5WA, jeez you know as well as I do Res 12 is just the tip of the iceberg, for a period there was stuff coming out on a daily basis about the shady dealing behind closed doors, they should have been sin die from the game, yet they are coming back as if nothing untoward has happened, is it any wonder so many are deciding enough is enough.

You know me and you know I am a gambling man, I will lay odds now that nothing will happen that will have any bearing on the years of cheating and the ongoing corruption.

That was done for obvious business reasons to get a commercial return

I was speaking about ethically doing the right thing with no other motive than it is the right thing to do.

Our claim to be more than a club rests imo largely on our ethics and that rests largely on the ethics of our support who do some amazing things because it is the right thing to do.

Going back to the business angle, it will be bad business if an ethical disconnect between support and club were to happen, so ethically and commercially Celtic’s future depends on doing the right thing.

Not the Scottish Scheister surely? The Charlatan from Charlotte Square as was. A man who in the 19th century would be rotting in a Debtors Prison but here in the 21st remains a Knight of the Realm. A travesty in every meaning of the word. Take a look at the most recent BDO creditors RFC 2012 report, 05 December 2017, realised assets of just over £14 mil, and debts/creditors of just under £170 million. (And do not ever mention MIH, Lloyds Bank won’t that is for sure.) Anybody expecting a “windfall” should look out for a gale force 8, because that is as near as you will get to one.

And as for Murray’s favourite bank, HBOS, well nearly ten years down the line, the latest version of the City of London’s “rubber stamp”, the Financial Conduct Authority, (previously the FSA) investigation into the actions of HBOS directors and corporate managers is “ongoing”. The FCA’s standard response to the question, what’s going on?

Why wouldn’t Murray be welcome at the SFA, he is only a handshake away!
